  1. One Year Surgiversary! 119 lbs GONE! I feel better than I have in years and years! Only regret is that I didn't do it sooner when the band failed 5 years ago. I want to thank you all for your encouragement, your stories, your advice and just plain sharing the good, bad, ugly and the HOPE we all have.

Wow! Congratulations on such a huge milestone! I like you, wish I had done this 15 years ago! I feel like I missed out on so much!

  2. Crazy month for me...finally broke into the 160's. Only 29 pounds to go. I have slowed way down on weight loss, but I have not eaten healthy. My husband had 2 strokes and surgery the first week of April. He is still in a rehab hospital gaining some mobilty back. He comes home May 4th. I will be so glad to have him home, and to return to some kind of normal. A new normal for us but with God in our lives a better normal.

I am so sorry for your struggles. Thank god he is now recovering. Hug!

  3. Barring any complications...how much time is reasonable to be off work for gastric bypass/rny? I have up to 2 weeks of vacation time, but wondered how long is normal for a desk job?

    Need Idea's

I still love my unjury brand chocolate protein shakes. They just don't have that bad after taste. You get almost 30 grams of protein in w/the milk. I use my nutria bullet to whip it up, and recently started putting in a 1/2 banana too. Yummy! I a 9 months out, and still use this for a great breakfast start to the day. Good luck to you!

    Tomatoes and/or Fruit

I am 9months out and I eat fruit and tomatoes. I do not eat fruit by itself. I always eat it in greek yogurt or with some cheese or with peanut butter. I have not had any dumping, but I do not want to chance it, so I make sure I have protein with it to ward off the sugars in them.

    Stalling for weeks on end

Wow it looks like you are doing great to me! Just keep on doing what you are supposed to be doing, it will move. I get a slowed down some now too. I got stuck at 211 for about 4 weeks, then it finally went down. Then I got stuck at 196 for about 2 1/2 weeks and finally the scales moved today to 194. Also, I try on clothes that are too small and re-try them...that is where you see the change in inches you were talking about. Hang in there and keep up the good work.
  19. I do have to chew very well, and slowly. I don't get nauseas too often, but as soon as I have not chewed/ or eat too fast....it's like my throat fills with mucus and it feels like I am full to the top of my throat....and you guessed it! I have to go throw up until I get the un-chewed portion out. But I do not have any more nausea like in the beginning. Thank Goodness! I had a band revision to rny bypass in the same surgery, and I believe the extraction of the band, port and scar tissue really made my stomach extra sensitive in the first month or so. Definitely keep drinking your fluids, and keep trying your different protein choices...you never know what day your tastes will change and you will be able to tolerate the new foods. Hang in there.

    Taste in mouth

I did at first after surgery. I even took my toothbrush and toothpaste to work the first month back. Seemed to go away by 6 weeks post op for me.
