That is awesome! You have met a major milestone, and you look great! Keep up the good work.

    Popcorn? Okay or Not?

Will be good to see what everyone says here. I LOVE popcorn, but have not had any for fear the kernels will tear my pouch up! And it is just carbs, so really no nutritional value. I have been using almonds as a snack when I get the craving for munchies ..... at least they are protein!! I am 3 1/2 months out and have less than one pound to my 1/2 way goal of 73 lbs!!
  4. I took off a week, went back 1/2 days for the second week...developed UTI, and had some really bad constipation issues. Missed nearly all of the third week completely! Finally back full time at 4 weeks, but was tired for a while. I have a desk job, but there was a lot of stress, as I came back the only other person in the department left on maternity leave, so was on my on as well.

    Protein bars INSTEAD of shakes?

Roostertail2, Do you eat greek yogurt? I know it is not as much protein as the shakes, but it does have a lot and you get calcium as well. My first 3 weeks were miserable. I couldn't stomach much at all. I was so sick to my stomach I had a hard time getting anything down. Somehow stumbled on the crystal lite pink lemonade (settled my stomach). Was able to do yogurt, ate it a lot. Had to hold my breath to get the shakes down. Now 3 months out, and I can drink them, so it really changes. Try again a little later. Hang in there. It will get better.
  6. Almost at the half way mark! 4 lbs to go.

    Frustrated

I remember the time dragging while awaiting my revision surgery. Insurance issues, dates missed and moved. Took at least 3 months later than it should have. I feel your pain. Just keep on keeping on, it will come. I am happy that you have made a decision to better your life.
  8. 3 month check up yesterday. Down a total of 67 lbs from heaviest weight. 46 from surgery date. All blood work good. So glad to have made the decision for wls.

    need prayers.

So sorry for your loss. God give you the strength, comfort and peace that you need now.
  12. Started training for the 1/2 marathon this week. 3 miles Tuesday and 3 miles tonight, then Saturday morning! I am a walker, so no speed records. Looking forward to beating my last years time with some of the excess weight gone.

Do you have a specific plan on how to work up to it, or are you winging it?

The YMCA is sponsoring it. They have a 13 week training session leading up to it. (they even had a 5 week jump start, to get people ready to go from 1 mile to 3 miles. the 13 weeks go 3Xs a week. 3 miles, 3 miles, 3 miles. then 3,3,4. then 3,3,5 eventually getting to 5,5,11. It is great fun to train with up to 500 people at a time, and so much encouragement, you can't believe it. I have re-injured my knee, and may not get to do it, but will be walking at a slower pace for less time until then.

  13. So sorry they weren't able to the RnY. But healing is a good thing, even when it isn't what we expected. Praying for a quick recovery and your next surgery as soon as possible.
  14. I experienced a lot of the same thing after my surgery. I had diarrhea the first week, then nothing!!! CONSTIPATION!! Oh, it was horrible, nearly impacted. I also tried to go back to work too soon. I ended up dehydrated, and had a bladder infection. Soooooo after all of that (plus constant nausea) passed....I am now back to work full time. I take 2 stool softeners a day. Have been moved to soft foods and they added lettuce! I have some every day, and my bowels move pretty good now. I did not have a drain..no problems there. They are right, you could have become lactose intolerant. That does happen. Just keep sipping the water, try crystal lite for a change. The one thing that helped my nausea was and is pink lemonade crystal lite. I have no idea why, but it worked. Hang in there, you can do it, It will be behind you before you know it.

    pissed

Don't do that to yourself! I gained 7 lbs from the surgery (IV Fluids,etc)...took over a week to lose that, then started to lose real weight. My weight loss is slower than some, but definitely coming off. Give yourself a break....and don't weigh but once a week. YOU CAN DO THIS! Hang in there.
  16. FINALLY!!! I feel human again! After 2 weeks of nausea, constipation, blood pressure bottoming out, dehydration, bladder infection, potassium too low.....TODAY- I feel normal and GREAT!

    BCBS INSURANCE

I am post op about 2 weeks for a lap band removal/revision to rny gastric bypass. I have Anthem bc/bs. I had them for the original surgery in 2007. Really didn't have any trouble, once the communication was open from my Surgeon's office and Anthem. I don't recall any lifetime max on my plan, but maybe others do.

    Extreme fatigue and low energy

Are you on blood pressure meds? Just a thought. at my post op appointment with my surgeon at 10 days out, he actually cut my bp med down by 1/2. I couldn't believe my bp was only 100/68 ! WOW! Hoping this will give me a little bit more energy. Just make sure to let your doctor know how you are feeling, so they can look into it.

    Overate and threw up

    Thank you for sharing.
  21. Post Op Day 8! Back to work 1/2 days started yesterday. I am worn out so easy (wierd to feel this way), but I have made it, I am trying to just drink one extra protien shake to max my total for now. Even went to Bible Study class tonight. I have dropped the 7lbs gain from fluid at surgery plus 4 more. Friday will be my post op appt with the surgeon, excited to see where I am then. Good night all.

  22. Tomorrow Post Op day7..going back to work for1/2 days. Did well today, got out and did some errands. Walked the store...didn't make it to Lowe's for grad present. But overall felt like I have the stamina. Wishing the rest of you May's continued good luck!

Congrats Jodie! I can't even get all the shakes in for the day and I'm a say behind you sista. We are doing fantastic! I'm so loving this!

  24. I made it fellow bypassers! Was a bit of a rough ride, be surgeon was able remove band and do bypass in one surgery. My scar tissue did make for a tougher surgery. Had on bad spell w/lack of gas passing. But seem to me the nausea is worse than pain. they kept it down at the hospital, have to deal w/it more here at home. I am free at last! Thanks for all your prayers, kind thoughts and encouragement.

  25. Surgery tomorrow morning! Looking forward to this journey to a healthier, better lifestyle.
