Does anyone else feel like they're always eating? I know I only eat about 850 calories a day, but they come in so many tiny meals, it just seems like I'm eating or having a shake about every two hours! I guess that's a good thing. But it's so funny, I thought my life was all about food before, but now it still is, just in such a different way! I certainly wouldn't go back, but it's just a bit funny I suppose.

I know there are other causes of nausea, but my only problem was when I was transitioning into solids and I thought I could have solids in Soup. I found that I was eating way too much in volume than my teeny tiny tummy could handle, not to mention, some were pretty rich. I went to basics and followed the 30 min before and 30 min after eating rule for liquids. As to what to eat? Experiment. My Fitness Pal has been a great tool once I was on solids. Protein first, then a veggie, then and only if there is room, starch/sweet. There has not been a food that I cannot eat, but the quantity is very small, to that end, I really have to focus on my protein. chicken, eggs, fish, beef and lean pork. cheese and deli meats are my quick go to.

Terribj reacted to SnohoGal98296 in I would have quit 1,000 times by now...
I came to the realization this morning while driving to work that if I was on a typical diet that I would have 1,000 times by now. From the night on my pre-op diet when I came home to my husband who had made Spaghetti and Meatballs for the himself and the kids to the 4th of July BBQ this weekend where there was homemade macaroni salad and every grilled/bbq'd meat known to mankind and lots of icy boozy drinks available. I would have quit - I would reached for that plate and loded it up and eaten myself into a comfort food coma each and every time. My sleeve is doing it's job and I must give myself some kudos to sticking to the recommended foods list - but my sleeve is training me on portion sizes (post VSG sizes too - tabelspoons instead of cups) and keeping me honest. I am so glad that I made the decision to get my sleeve. The first few days were tough and I have had dreams about eating food (my subconscious just doesn't understand why I am not eating like I used too!), but as I sit here wearing a new pair of pants that I bought in October and got home only to figure that I had gone up another size and was too regretful to return them (they were the largest size Lee makes in that style 24W), I am pleased with both myself and the outcome of my sleeve.
This is what I thought I was buying when I selfpaid for my sleeve and it is working as expected - sometimes slower then I want - but it is working and I will take slow and steady any day over "I will just start again on Monday!"

It takes your brain 20-25 minutes to register you are full. I try to eat slow so my brain can keep up with my stomach. I don't want to over eat and I'd like to feel full for as long as possible.
I don't like eating slow - i mean really - how long does it take one to eat 4 oz of food - most people that is two bites, for the rest of us it is the whole meal.
I do find it difficult to make 4 oz last 20-25 minutes but each meal I try. I notice the slower I eat the fuller I feel longer. As everything else everyone is different - find what works for you.

I can't handle sweets any longer. I had a bite of a birthday cake..and when I say bite I mean a baby spoon bite. I had to spit it out. I couldn't take it. pudding is too sweet, I have't even tried chocolate and won't now, same with ice cream.
I'm very much OK with my new found aversion to sweets

I'm 3 months post-op and I still cannot eat Pasta or bread. I only eat 2-3 oz at each meal still. I think you will be surprised at how full you get how quickly.
I do eat Busch's baked Beans but in a very small amount - maybe a tablespoon. While it is good in Protein it is very high in sugar so I limit that. I'll have cottage cheese with the Beans along with lean hamburger or chicken.
Remember once you are ready for solid foods (6 weeks for me) Protein first, veggies second, carbs third.
I can eat Peanut Butter, but I put it on saltines, not bread. and I've been transitioning to PB2 which has far less fat and calories. My NUT recommenced staying away from low fat pnut better as well - it is very high in sugar.
I don't think you'll be able to eat the mac/cheese and spaghetti for at least 4-6 months.
Everyone is different, but if there is one thing everyone on here would probably agree with is don't push it. Don't push your stomach to more than it can handle. Try something new each week. For the past 4 weeks I've been trying to eat a piece of cucumber, and each week my stomach says "not yet".

A CUP of food? Good grief! I'm almost six weeks out, and I'm lucky to hit a quarter-cup at a meal (although I generally have something small mid-afternoon to hit my protein). My NUT mentioned that according to our plan, we should eat up to a cup of food at between six months to a year out (she also said that's a maximum, not a suggested amount.)
Are you hitting your numbers otherwise? Protein and hydration amounts? If you're getting those in, I wouldn't worry about striving to eat more than you're comfortable eating. When in doubt, let your NUT know that that's all you can manage to get in. I can't imagine they would want you to force yourself to eat more.

How about taking the only out of that sentence and maybe add a exclamation mark at the end. "I lost 13 pounds in one week after surgery!" This is pretty amazing. How many weeks in your life were you able to make that statement? Try to enjoy the journey.
The speed at which you lose depends on many factors, but try not to compare with other people.
    Good Luck!

This may not be stupid advice normally, but my coworker (who had lost over 100 lbs post op) and I were in an elevator at work the week I returned after my VSG surgery. I had already lost 42 lbs in the 7 weeks I was out and people assumed I had surgery, too. So this girl who knew my coworker had surgery looked at our cups and said, "Yall need to quit drinking your calories!" We both just laughed because we both had unsweetened tea! WTH?? Combined, we had lost over 150 lbs and you feel the need to try to tell us we are drinking our calories (when it was unsweet to begin with)? Unsolicited advice is the worst!!!
