    fullness

HI everyone, I am a June Sleever (June 10th), today I am 3 weeks post op. Except for excessive gas, I feel great. Here are my stats, HW 278, SW 265, CW 239- I am thrilled. My question is how do you guys gauge when you are full and should stop eating. I get some gas pain, is that it? Thanks friends, Marilyn

    Train of thought

I think that what you're feeling is normal. For me, there were times when I questioned what i was doing. Was I ready to deal with the possible complications? Was this decision too drastic? But I had a breakthrough, during my pre-op diet, that I hope will help you. (BTW my surgery is this coming Tuesday) During my pre-op diet stage, I have had to avoid all my favorite foods. But there were times when my husband would make some delicious dishes. I mean the family's got to eat, right?? Anyhow, I was looking and smelling the delicious meatloaf that he had just made and I thought, "Wow, if i could just have a serving? a small serving?" I suddenly realized I love this dish so much that I would not be able stop at one serving and would probably eat at least 3 servings. At that moment I realized that having this surgery was not an option for me. It was a must if I wanted to have any control over my life and be there for my family. Perhaps, next time you are famished and looking at your favorite meal, you can ask yourself, "Can I stop at one serving?" If you can, then perhaps you have the discipline needed to lose the weight naturally. For me that moment convinced me that I needed serious intervention. I hope this helps.

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

My surgery is on June 10th. I am so afraid that part of me want to back out, but i know that i cannot. I have 4 daughters and the youngest is 4 years old. I am so scared about the dangers of surgery. How are you post-ers feeling? what has been the most challenging part of your recovery?

    Any 2014 June Sleevers

Hi all, My date is June 10th in Mexico!
  6. Pre-op diet...I now realize how truly addicted I am to food...

  7. I live in Austin, Texas and I am really concerned about my follow up visits. Does anyone have advise about how you followed up after surgery in. Mexico? I am particularly concerned about a doctor accepting my follow ups?
  8. I used Dr. Fernando Garcia and had great results. No issues. Good Luck

    No regrets?

Hi Everyone: I cannot express how much i appreciate all your wisdom. Its bad enough that my weight is the daily monkey on my back, but to not have anyone who understands and deals with my issues of pain, fits of self hatred, etc. is so hard. I am so thankful for those that have responded to my concerns and have taken the time to guide me. Your words put things in perspective for me. I cant wait to share my journey with my new friends.

    No regrets?

I am 5'4" and I weigh 272 lbs. I have hypertension, plantar fasciitis, stress incontinence, low self esteem and I can't even toss and turn in my bed without feelin as if my spine is going to separate from my back tissue. Any hoo, I was about to schedule my surgery and I am paying out of pocket (my teacher's insurance has an exemption for weight loss surgery...so much for molding our future). I am now reconsidering it because I am fat and already have lose skin...I can't imagine what my body is going to look like when I lose weight. I am, particularly concerned about my boobs and tummy. If I pay for the surgery then I will not be able to afford cosmetic surgery later, but if I lose the weight on my own then I can use the money for cosmetic surgery. I do not trust myself to be able to lose 100 plus lbs. on my own. Is the sleeve the "easy" way out? Should I be concerned about not being able to afford cosmetic surgery? I need overall advice.
  11. hi bob, I am planning to have surgery spring break or the summer. I am considering Dr. Ortiz. Are the facilities as they appear on the website? Also, I am in the process of saving up my money for surgery and expenses. Can you please share how much the surgery was in total and how much should I bring for expenses? I am afraid I will not save enough...Thanks.
