I'm 9 wks out and I crave stuff all the time, but I KNOW I can't eat it. Every night I rattle off all the things I want. So I let my mind crave whatever it wants. I gave in to a bite of pizza, threw up. One bite of a chicken nugget, threw up. I refuse to feel like crap. Nothing is worth dealing with a bellyache. If you have a craving that is just driving you crazy, try it. You'll see if it sits well. Pizza doesn't sound good at all now. The cravings will subside because your mind will catch up to your belly. Good luck. ❤️

Lots of sleevers lose weight and do not exercise. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. You don't have to exercise but..
Most people are following their doctors plans though, and all doctors tell you to exercise. My doctor did tell me they try to do gastric bypass only on older less active people, and the sleeve is a better option for younger people that can be physically active.
If you are losing weight for health purposes, you should be active and work out.
I have an associate that had the bypass, they are young, and they worked out heavily in the beginning. Easily dropping weight, getting up to running 5 miles a day. Later, almost 2 years down the line when this person was able to eat more and ravenously hungry, the fact they could and did workout daily prevented them from regaining.
Working out is your insurance plan against regaining and also to maintain/improve your health. The sleeve and bypass, are not going to be as magical after the first year, you have to build habits that will help you maintain your weight loss.

I was on full liquids as soon as I could pass my swallow test. In the hospital less than 24 hours after surgery, my "food" tray had a Protein shake, Jello, and broth.
You can't heal without Protein, it is a building block of the body. After any surgery or injury protein is essential.
Reading these boards and others I really hate how unregulated WLS surgery is and how so many doctors have such different care instructions.

I'm a clinical psychologist who works with adolescents.
Also, @@skyjones, you are sooo NOT too old! Go for it. I started my doctoral program right after I finished my undergrad. Would you believe that I was the only grad student who entered straight from college? So many of my classmates were in their 30's and my best friend ended up being a 40y.o. woman who had gone back to school in her late 30's! Do you!

psylocke72 got a reaction from KeepCalm in 5 days to go. Should I cheat?
I had one "cheat" dinner 3 days before my surgery. It was fried chicken. I didn't eat a crazy amount (two pieces of chicken) and ate veggies with it (trying to keep it low carb). I talked to other friends who had WLS and found that this is not uncommon. I am glad that I did it, otherwise I might be going crazy right now with fried chicken cravings (I'm in the soft foods stage).
It may be a very long time post-op before you can have those foods, so I say enjoy yourself (moderation, portion control)!
    Good luck!

How's all the post ops doing? Pre-ops, I genuinely believe in putting out good vibes and thoughts. Be positive on your decision and that your experience will be awesome. I had so many negative thoughts with my gallbladder(1st surgery, ever) as well as my wisdom teeth extraction(1st time to be put asleep).. Guess what, both times I had severely negative experiences. This go around, not so much. I put it out there that I would not be in pain, I would walk hourly, and I would breeze through recovery and.. I did.

psylocke72 got a reaction from Inner Surfer Girl in Did anyone fake their 6 months supervised weight loss?
My doctor had a thorough history of my decades long struggles with my weight (e.g. past significant loss via WW, followed by regain+, etc.). He had a good sense of all that I had and was currently trying to lose weight. He then provided a plan that made it possible to do the 6 months without making me crazy or broke.
I met with the nutritionist at his practice 1x. One co-pay.
I went to my doctor's office for monthly weigh-ins for 6 months. Most of those visits I did not see him, thus no co-pay. He treats many bariatric patients and has instructed his registration staff and medical assts. to register us w/o co-pay and just weigh us.
When I did have true visits, he always interviewed me about what I was doing, but I never provided "proof". Good luck to your friend!

@@LisaLouBop , thanks for the tip. I will try using the thermometer. I've learned to enjoy the chicken Soup flavor at room temp. I am curious about the suggestion from @@MOMMY2MGM to heat it up....might try it. Thanks ladies!

I tried a GNC brand that I thought I liked for a while until I didn't. I got a sample of unjury from my nut. and loved it. In fact, I started having an Unjury shake for Breakfast a couple of months before my pre-op diet (which I am in now).
You might like the strawberry sorbet (which I think you said you have) and can be mixed in Water or crystal light, etc. Also try their unflavored and the chicken Soup. I don't like so much sweetness so the chicken Soup has been a life saver. The only problem with unjury is that it doesn't do well in very warm or hot Water so you can't make a warm soup or add it to hot tea or coffee. I tried the coffee thing and it was a clumpy mess!
