1newday2 reacted to Babbs in Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?

You know how I feel, because I said it before....
But your words "But every day I can get on my scales I have quantifiable proof that I'm not worthless anymore " made me CRINGE.
If you're putting all your worth to the number on the scale, I feel sorry for you.
So if you gain....say 20 pounds...does that mean you're worthless again?
When I weighed 235 pounds, I was still smart, funny, kind, hard working, patient....I had lots of qualities that the scale didn't define. And I'm still that person. There's just less of me now. Which is a shame because I'm pretty awesome.
I see too many people on this site put all their worth into how much they weigh. And that's just sad. And wrong. And not healthy.

1newday2 got a reaction from msfitn2014 in Feel like im losing slow
I had the revision done 12-28-13 starting weight 246 and I'm now 206. I feel like my weight loss has been slow. Keep your head up and continue to move forward and we will get there.

1newday2 reacted to klelly1 in Feel like im losing slow
I am now 4 months out and have lost 40 lbs. I feel like that is kind of slow as my doctor said I would average about 15 lbs a month . But that's an average of 10 lbs a month so I will take it and be happy! could I have done that on my own..... Yes and I have done it on my own! Question is could I have done that on my own and kept it off? absolutely not or I would not have had a band and I would not have had a revision to sleeve. Although I feel like it's a little slower than I had hopes for I finally feel like this is it for me, I finally found a tool that will help me keep the weight off ! Can't wait till another 4 months to see where I am at! :-) another 45 lbs or so and this girl is going on one Gigantic shopping spree!

1newday2 got a reaction from livelyterry in Bye bye band
I had my band removed and revised to the sleeve but had to wait 6 weeks before the doctor would sleeve me. I was afraid I would gain weight although I had already done that with the band. I didn't gain any weight in fact it felt like I still had the band. I trust my surgeon. So if he said I need to wait then I needed to wait even if I didn't like it. I knew a lot of people that were had their band removed and sleeved same day. My surgeon told me my stomach needed time to heal.

1newday2 reacted to RunningA5K in December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log
At the suggestion of a fellow sleever (thanks DeezJeans) I'm starting a post-op success story thread. This can be a 'numbers' thread...when you do your weigh in's, you can post your pounds lost here, and we can keep a running total. We can use this thread JUST for pounds lost!
Looking forward to the thousands of pounds we WILL be losing!
Here's what we would like to do. Please send me a private message with your goal pounds lost. (Meaning, if your goal is to lose 150 pounds, just jot that down in a quick private message and send that to me.)
Then we will compile all the pounds from everyone who wants to participate, and post the full amount, and then work towards those goals with weekly updates. We will be recording those pounds lost AFTER surgery!
You will still post your pounds lost on this forum here so we can Celebrate all of your victories (and I will keep track of them on my trusty spreadsheet, and then report the weekly pounds lost)
If you have any questions, please let me know!

1newday2 reacted to Lisa Collom in What ya eating tonight?
1 head of broccoli, florets trimmed and stalk peeled and chopped
3 slices turkey bacon
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp dried tarragon
6 cups low sodium fat free chicken broth
1 cup fat free half n half
1 Tb cornstarch made into a slurry with 1 Tb Water
6 oz shredded chicken
4 oz low fat sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Cook bacon in pan coated with cooking spray. Remove when crisp. Add onions and broccoli stems. Cook over medium heat until onions are translucent. Add garlic and tarragon, cook one minute. Add chicken broth. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer for 15 minutes. (At this point I purée the Soup because my daughter won't eat the broccoli stems, but you don't have to.). Add half n half and cornstarch slurry. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce to simmer and add chicken and broccoli florets. Cook 10-12 minutes until florets are tender and Soup has thickened. Add cheese and reserved bacon. It's so good. I attached the mfp stats.

Dr. Kuhn at Medical City! I am scheduled for my sleeve in early November but I already went to my pre op appointment and pre admitted to the hospital. Him and his staff are fantastic and I feel so informed and comfortable about the surgery.

1newday2 got a reaction from 7 Bites_Jen in I'm approved revision gastric band to sleeve
Good morning,
I have great news. I’ve been approved for my revision surgery from gastric band to gastric sleeve. I was initially banded on July 28 2006 with little to no weight loss. My band slipped and my stomach as turned. I have a great surgeon that I trust Dr Joseph Kuhn out of Dallas Texas. I’m new to this site and can’t wait for my new journey to start .
