  1. Hi - what is the 5 day pouch test ?????
  2. Hi, I am about 6 weeks out from surgery, and I must say that while I have been very very good with my food intake, I have had Starbucks or coffee shop drinks a few times a week for the last several weeks. I do have skinny lattes, but I often order a grande, and it takes me well over an hour to finish it. I feel like that is some milk Protein intake, and it goes down so easily, with no side effects, that I don't intend to give it up. I often have that as lunch. Maybe this is bad, but it is my only caffeine intake for the day, and I am not giving it up!! I have resisted the pumpkin spice or gingerbread lattes, because the 300+ calorie count is just too much to think about (oh how I used to down those before surgery !!). I am down almost 30 lbs... so happy with my sleeve!
  3. Hi there ! I had my sleeve on October 21st. It is about 5 weeks out from that. I am very happy with my weight loss, but even more with the adjusting of my attitude about food. I think I know what you mean about the discomfort in your throat... what I have found is that the whole rage of sensations is very strange and really takes some getting used to. I am not there yeat at all. I was placed on full liquids for 2 weeks, then purees only for two weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks ( I am still in that stage), before I can add any other foods. Definitely I have struggled with the speed of eating - too fast creates a bad sensation, like pain in the upper stomach, lower throat, almost like you have swallowed air. So I am trying to eat more slowly, which is difficult when you feel hungry. Also I have noticed that hunger and too full feel almost the same in my new stomach. It is strange how those signals communicate with your brain, though - not at all like it was before! try softer foods, more purees, and eat slower - see if that helps. It definitely is a journey. I am so happy though! Good luck to you guys!
  4. Hi all. I saw Diet Coke and knew I had to reply. Pre-surgery I LOVED Diet Coke. Infact, back in Feb I broke my ankle and had to have it surgically repaired. I was so thirsty before the surgery, and as soon as I was in recovery, the first thing I said was "diet cooooke!" And they did give me one soon after that. So getting ready for my sleeve, which was on October 21st, I felt like it would be terrible to have to give it up. What I can tell you about my experience is this: I have had a remarkably easy recovery, no problems at all and very little if no pain. BUT what I did have alot of was gas - lots and lots of burping in the days following the surgery, and if you don't expel it, it will hurt your new stomach. Therefore I have not had a single craving for diect coke or anything with carbonation, at all. Can't even imagine drinking it. Will that last forever? I don't know, but the habit gets broken for you - just like alot of other bad food habits, once you are post surgery. And that is the beauty of the sleeve. You start your relationship with food over - a clean slate. Good Luck !!
  5. Hi I am wondering the same thing. I had my sleeve done on October 21st. At my highest weight I was 210. (I am just over 5'1". Presurgery I was 197. The day after I was released from the hospital I was back up to 204 - from the IV fluids. Then the rapid weight loss started. This morning I weighed 190, and am losing almost 2 lb. per day! I am doing pretty well getting my Protein in, though I never thought I would be keeping a food journal to be sure I was consuming enough !! haha. I am wondering how fast is too fast a weight loss? Anyone know?
