I really hated to see this post I quit smoking 2 years ago because my son was diagnosed with asthma. Although I didn't not directly smoke in the same room as him or around him, the smoke was on my clothes and was affecting his breathing when he hugged me! I had no idea that could affect him just being on my clothes. I threw the cigarettes straight in the trash on the way home from the doctor and stopped and bought a electronic cigarette and used it for one month. Let me tell you it helped a lot! It was more the habit than anything. Every time I felt like I wanted to smoke, I took a few puffs off of it. I loved smoking and honestly would still be smoking today had it not been for my son. I knew all of the affects on my own health that it had but I just didn't care. I am so incredibly glad I quit and wish I had done it long before. I was 27 when I quit and had smoked since I was 13 years old! I really hope you kick this addiction in the rear! Good luck! P.S My cross addiction has been shopping!

So please Enlightened me Alex.. In the last several days there have been new people here that do not have the sleeve.. They have the bypass. When I asked one about why she chose a sleeve forum she told me well I have the bariatric pal app and this is what it gave me (this forum)
So are we all intermixing now? Inquiring minds (me) want to know..

When searching for a Protein drink my dietician makes me use the 5-10-15 rule. no more then 5 grams of fat, no more then 10 grams of carbs, and at least 15 grams of protein. Let me just say there aren't to many choices that meet this! All the good ones have at least 20 or more carbs I have found.

CGJ picks them well. The nectar sweets are very good and mix well. They were my primary shakes for first 6 months. If you like nectar double cookie, you might also like Matrix Oreo. It is made by the same company, but is a different formula and designed to be extended release. The Matrix Protein matrix will hold you for 4-5 hours instead of 2-3 as Nectar does and costs about 10 dollars more. I just recently discovered costco Premier Protein drinks because my wife likes to drink them. I am not sure why I avoided these for so long, but they are tasty and actually satisfy as a meal (very surprised). I like to drink one right when I get up in the morning. If you like muscle milk lite, you might enjoy cake batter flavor. It is hard ( ok impossible) to find in a retail store so I order it off Amazon. It is so delicious. If you are looking for an evening or bed time shake, might I recommend Optimal Nutrition double chocolate casein. It will really help your muscles repair and aid in weight loss while you sleep.< /p>

I think that would be like going to an AA meeting and asking if anyone there is an Alcoholic. MOST people get fat by eating which in turn means your addicted. I am sure there is exceptions to the rule however like complications with the surgery itself those numbers are small. Purely my opinion though.

Oh I so totally agree with the posts here. The majority of fat people ARE food addicts and CARBS are from the devil!! I take it one day at a time and have never vomited. Slider foods I have to stay away from as it really is a slippery slope to get back on track. I love the new me and focus on my success everyday to stay motivated.

I dare say there are MANY food addicts here and almost every story is that of one, whether they own up to that addiction or not.
For me, the removal of my stomach has taken away 95% of my NEED to eat mass quantities of food because it HURTS. Eating more than a few bites is uncomfortable and makes me want to vomit. At least once a week or so, I do have to vomit because I have one bite too many or something gets stuck. Those times are getting fewer and farther in between, thankfully, and I am finding myself dreading eating even when I feel physically hungry. What's really bizarre is that I don't mind dreading food, as I am slowly starting to see it more as nourishment than anything else.
I still battle head hunger from time to time and a need for sweets/carbs/fatty foods/etc. but I am so physically uncomfortable when I indulge, it's getting SO MUCH easier to defeat the "need".
This has been a great tool for me to get my food addiction under control. I don't feel as if I need therapy, but I certainly think that's an awesome tool to go along with this if one does.

Miss_T got a reaction from gmanbat in When do the mood swings go away?
This post made me sad. I have not had any depression since surgery. If anything I have gotten a heck of a lot happier. Immediately after surgery I did have spouts of crying fits. I actually cried once because someone drank all of my skim milk. HAH! No crying over spilled milk or in my case NO milk. I struggled with depression for many years in the past and I'm finally at a point in my life where I do not feel depressed. Like a normal person I do have my down dates and moods. Anyways, I hope you find something to make you feel better!

I usually wrap one of those ab sweat exercise wraps around my waist, before I put on my shaper. It helps! I can't breath, or eat, or talk, but I'm looking sexy. Then I put on my high heels, and my toes hurt, my feet hurt and I can't walk, but hey, I'm looking sexy!

Don't be sorry for posting. Yes it happens to us all... and yes it's still a surprise when it happens to us!
OK, just follow your program. Try not to weigh every day. Increase your Water... peeing clear every hour or 90 minutes actually helps.
Remember this is NOT fat, this is (1) Water weight -- and may be cycle related, and (2) healing after major surgery.
There is ONE thing that you DO NOT do. You DO NOT give up.

EXACTLY! I have been reading all of these pre op posts about the drinks and I was thinking to myself oh my all the wasted money! I did not like any of the ones I liked and loved before surgery. After surgery they made me gag and I could not force myself to get them down. If I was able to drink thru a straw I may be able to suck them down quickly but since a straw is out of the question, I have not found one Protein Drink that I actually like AND meets the guidelines that my dietician set for them except for the CVS brand whey Protein powder. Does anyone else have the 5-10-15 Rule when drinking protein?

For those of you that are pre-op just know the way the drinks taste WILL change. Drinks I liked before surgery I cant even tolerate now and they taste completely different. Its best to find one you like for your pre-op diet then try samples after surgery to see which ones you like best post-op chances are they will not be the same.
