Hey guys - can i ask how many of you still take pariet post-op? Ive had a bit of a funny tummy of late and did some research trying to work out if Ive had a tummy bug or a reaction to pariet (too much dr google!). A friend of mine who has had the same surgery doesn't need it anymore but I still tend to get really gassy if I don't take it at night... Love to hear your thoughts? Ive asked my Dr (about gas etc post op) and he wasn't very helpful...

Hey good for you! First week back was hard for me - super tired by the time the week was over but it got easier really quickly! Good luck!!

. Hey Bec - will we lose hair regardless of the amount of Protein you manage? I'm a month post op and managing on average over 60grams per day mostly b/c I'm terrified of the hairless lol!
  4. Hey nadasmum that's awesome!! Good to hear you're up and about!
  5. Woohoo! Hope it all went well today and recovery is going well!
  6. Hey Nadasmum - so tomorrow is the big day yes? Just wanted to wish you well for tomorrow, hope the nerves are at bay, and that you have a smooth recovery over the next few days!!

    average weight loss...

Wow Miss Mac you're doing really well! I lost a bit over 23 pounds with the two week pre op diet and one week post op...but two weeks later I've stalled.. Can I ask what your diet/exercise day to day looks like?
  8. Hey Nadasmum! Welcome! Glad your feeling strong about the willpower! It's exciting in the lead up to surgery! What date is your surgery? Im exactly 2 weeks out today from mine and feeling good! Still a little sore if I over do it but driving, shopping, walking, etc no probs! Re packing for hospital - I took so much stuff I didn't need! The best thing I took was an audiobook on my iPod!! Good for when you aren't sleeping but not feeling great post surgery. I had a slight reaction to the pain meds post op so was a little sick the day after/following day so the audio book was great to just tune out to. Other things that were suggested to me were eye mask and ear plugs to escape night time Hosp noise (esp if you're public as I was). I didn't use mine but prol should have pulled them out at one stage. The other tip I'd have is that I didn't realise one of the sites was just below bra line ( think in between your boosies) so a bra wasn't awesome but I had tanks with shelf bras which have been great. Re weightloss: between the two week pre-op and one week post op I was down just over 10kgs. Haven't been on the scales yet his week but I can defs feel it in my clothes. Any more questions - let me know!
  9. Hey Nadia - just checking in to see how you're doing? So far so good here! Only one instance where I've eaten too quickly/too much and been in some pain! I've been walking and had my first decent day out today with a friends 2rd old running around and survived!! (Just one wound feels a little sore!). Had my first post op nutritionist visit on Friday - was interesting..
  10. I was at the nutritionist today first time post op... And she told me not to be so worried so much carbs... And I was super confused! Im about ten days post op but was asking about ways to take in extra protein and she suggested sustagen neutral and then was telling me to have porridge or weetbix for breakfast. When I asked her about protein vs the carbs etcetc she said not to worry about it.. I'm confused!
  11. Oh bummer on the nausea. So far I've skipped that since leaving hospital. I haven't had any gas pains as such but feel bloated at times and pretty 'burpy' at others. I'm honestly finding eating the biggest challenge - so full so quick. And of course I've begin reading the forums and comparing myself to everyone else who seems to be sculling Water and shakes like no ones business. I find I'm better with warmer stuff so once I'm driving I think I might go get some of the tony ferguson Soups for more Protein. Anyway - awkward personal question coming - but have you pooped since surgery? Sorry I know it's possible tmi but I haven't and I know I'm not really eating much but I'm starting to wonder if I should take something? Gonna try some apple purée today to see if that works for some fibre. I laughed when you said you'd already been on the scales! I jokingly asked the Dr what size my stomach was that he removed because I was curious and trying to be a bit funny... I thought I'd wait for a week after surgery so maybe tomorrow ( I think I read somewhere that someone put on weight and I'd be devo'd for that to be me!)
  12. Hey Nadia - it's Caz! I'm home and doing soo much better! Still a bit sore in the tummy - and getting in protein shakes is hard but each day is easier than the last. How are you doing now you're home?
  13. Hey Nadia how are you feeling?? I reacted to the pain pump so had a right time til today but I managed teeny amount of soup tonight and some tea so I feel like a winner!! Hoping to go home tomorrow! Learning lots about spacing out meds, liquids, and good lol. And lots of walking and napping! (Best thing I did was down load the audio book of Tina Fey Bossy pants!)

  15. Hey Nadia I was last on the list so got back late to ward. Pretty bad pain til the pain pump kicked in and now super drowsy. No shoulder pain yet! Sipping water very slowly.
