@@relentless302, I was the same way ..im a mother of 3 and my husband works long hours 6 days a week. ..but I decided that I did want to do myself or my family a dis service. .I would always have the thought of something horrible happening in surgery and I woul wake up with tubes everywhere and machines dinging. ..but I did my research and talked to patients that were in my drs office when I had a visit and even at my nut visits.. I tell u the thoughts you have u feel like you are the only one thinking this but there are others. but just thinking now about those folks I met they all went through with the surgery and are doing well no complications. I was scared and nervous all rhe way into the OR...and I had an out my surgeon was late because it started snowing ..so he was in traffic. ..but I forged ahead and I am here to tell you that it's worth it. .today I am 289 lbs from 364 (surgery on 12/17/13)...While I didn't have any ailments I had recently started bp and diabetic meds...and guess what I immediately came off of them ....jus wanted to share ...you are not alone with the feelings...you can do it!!!

Hi everyone just wanted to chime in on the Hair loss. I was sleeved on 12/17/13, while the hair loss didn't start immediately but when it did boy did it...I went and brought my Protein enriched Shampoo and treatment packets, along with my Biotin supplement. I went and had my hair cut evenly and have begun my regimen. .The shedding and breaking has slowed down tremendously and I am making sure I get enough protein to combat this as well. The good thing us I have lost 67 lbs since I began my journey.

Hi everyone! I was sleeved December 19, 2013! I had a rough time during Christmas when my auntie pulled that Mac and cheese out the oven. With my new eating habits I still eat a lot of chicken, turkey and some pork. Nothing cried which hearts my heart sometimes but it's for the best. Recently I was able to enjoy about 1/4 cup of cheese grits. It was a nice treat and so are collard greens with turkey. I am more aware of what I eat obviously, and passing on the pies, Cookies and fried foods that frequent the family gatherings. Sometimes I'll even take a tiny bit of everything and start with the Protein, by the time I get to the "good stuff" I'm full! My hair well, it's been drier than usual and my skin has actually been clearer than ever. I'm thinking it's the up In fluids. I've lost a total of 68.5lbs. My husband actually called me skinny he's ridiculous I'm 248lbs! It's been interesting to listen to family claim I'm "too" skinny or shouldn't lose anymore. I just think of how unhealthy I was before and how much better I feel now. I'm doing this for me and for my kids while I miss those fish frys I don't miss the back pain, aches, belly rolls and back fat!

Had my 3 month follow-up day, I'm down 52lbs. I need to really start working out, it's been hard with all the snow and it took awhile for me to get back to normal. I started with my trainer last week and it felt great to be able to workout and not have some if that extra baggage holding me down.
Good Luck to everyone as we all continue on our Journey!

So far I've lost 38lbs, lost a total of 85lbs, I've gotten back into the gym, I can't fit ANY of my clothes since everything is way too small, my homies tell me that my head is shrinking as well as my body (please keep it clean!!!), my blood pressure is FINALLY starting to get under control, and I've learned the following:
1 - Some folks think of what you're doing as 'cheating', which I don't understand. The only thing I think I'm cheating is cheating death, since this journey is finally making me healthier.
2 - During this journey, you find out who your TRUE FRIENDS are...fortunately most of my friends have been extremely supportive!
3 - Even at 8 weeks out, if you try to eat too fast, you'll still bring the meal back up!! I have to keep in mind that the lifestyle change is forever, so I have to remember that the old adage of always cleaning your plate should stay as a thing in the past!
I wish everyone much, much success!!!

Hi kittychick- I felt the same when I finally decided to start my process of getting the sleeve. ...I told my husband 1st what I was doing and why at 1st he was hesitant but came around. .once I got through all of the testing and NUT appointments and psyc eval I shared with a co worker and come to find out she was doing the same thing with the same dr as me...so we became buddies she had the same feelings of not telling everyone. . I only told my aunt and cousin and swore her to not tell my super opinionated uncle who would pick up the phone and begin to tell me all that I could do to "fix my problem"...I told my dad just last week only because hes older and I knew he would worry and he is already dealing with his own med issues. . so I def understand wher u are coming from. ..

Yep, it's been 8 years where the hubs and I have been the same weight. It was embarrassing!
He didn't realize how much weight I had gained since we met - I always kept my weight hidden from him. Right before surgery I told him my actual weight - he was floored. I cried.
I can't wait till I weigh less than my son!!!!!
