  1. Well folks, I gotta tell ya: there's nothing like a rude awakening to get things going. After serious discussions with my wife and doctor about my weight and health, I had decided to do my homework and see what I could do to make a change. I decided Lap Band was for me. That was about 5 months ago. I have worked diligently on not gaining any weight these past months, and now that surgery is right around the corner (Oct. 11), I'm prepping myself for the pre-op diet. I'm also gettin' the jitters just a bit :phanvan At any rate, our company had a little party the other night, and the photos were just posted. HOLY GOD. I haven't actually been in a picture for about a year now (I steer clear of cameras), but someone snapped one off. Let's just say I am ready to start my pre-op early and get this party started! I know y'all are with me, so let's do this!
  2. want_so_bad, you ain't riding this rollercoaster alone. These mini-binges are startin to cramp my style. I'm really not happy with losing my control at this point, thinkin I can do this until it's time to start the diet. The mental change needs to start happening NOW. That's why we're here, I guess: We all get by with a little help from our friends~
  3. I was a little concerned because my pre-op appt isn't until the 4th, and I'm under the knife on the 11th. I'm going to start a pre-op diet the 24th of September anyway, and I'm gonna need y'all to keep me honest!
  4. I've just gotta say, LOVE the amount of support on this board. I'm really lookin forward to being a part of this group. We're on our way...
  5. Well, there was the Alan Parson Project song "Inside Looking Out"...
  6. Right on, I'm proud to be a member of this group! I'm going in October 11. If you peeps need a shoulder, you got one.
  7. Alright! I just got on the calendar here in Seattle for October 11. I'm a mix of thoughts and emotions right now, but I tell ya, I'm ready like you can't believe. Let's do it!
  8. 300IOWA - with the exception of back surgery, you could be me! I've posted to a couple other threads (just search for 'em) on the issue, and people here have been great with their support and ideas. I think it really depends on a few things: your relationship with your family and your desire to share. Personally, as is the opinion of several others here, it's a personal decision. I'm not telling my family, as I know their reaction would not be supportive. With something like this, you need support. And remember, once you say it, you can't take it back. Best of luck to ya, pal~
  9. Sweet deal Elena! Be proud of your accomplishment. I, too, was in Greece last summer for my honeymoon; what a place!
  10. Now that's what I wanna hear...you're an inspiration to us all! Nice work!!
  11. Well Valzie, I've done everything the Dr.'s office told me to do at this point, so I hope that's it. Didn't need additional tests that he said...
  12. OUTSTANDING. My heartfelt congrats to you both.
  13. Thanks Marjon9, I'll check it out. New to the Forum, still making my way around...
  14. I'm curious: how many of you have told people you were getting/have been banded? Who did you entrust with this info? My wife knows (didn't think I could keep it a secret ) but a few months ago, I started to mention it to my brother. He's family, was my best man, and is my closest friend. And he flipped out on me. The fact that he has been in top physical condition his whole life just angered me more; he doesn't know what it's like. As I'm new to LBT, it just got me to thinking how many of you have shared?
  15. This is a great thread for those of us all waiting! I just joined LBT today, and this place is exactly what I needed. I've decided not to tell anyone my decision (when I mentioned it to my brother as a possibility months ago, he freaked out.) I started this process in April, and the wait has been a killer, but I just submitted everything to my insurance company. Keep on prayin...
  16. Well, I've heard of the difficulties insurance carriers can pose...luckily, mine seems to be cooperating at present. Keep those fingers crossed...
  17. to Tim and hello from me. I, too, live in Seattle and am in the 'waiting' stage for my insurance approval. Plan to go under the knife as soon as I hear the word "go". Best of luck!
