Feeling annoyed
I'm with the others here... Don't cook multiple choices unless you want to, they won't starve. My kids are teens now but it's always been eat what I make or you're on your own. Hubby too. I make Protein and veggie, sometimes a starch sometimes another veggie, and then I just don't eat the starch. Or a one pot meal like stew or chilli and I maybe pick out the potatoes (so does my daughter, maybe I should just start making it without now that I think about it).

How long before you were able to drink water like before your sleeve?
About six months. I can gulp away now!

Fav drinks
Oh and light lemonade. Lots of places that have fountain sodas have it. 5 cal, 1 carb.
-
Fav drinks
Double tall dry nonfat Cappuccino. 50 cal, 8 carbs, 5 Protein. Sometimes I add a Splenda pack, sometimes I ask for a shot of sugar free hazelnut, caramel or vanilla syrup.

General question -- Do they remove any/some of the fat in your abdomen during surgery?
Ummmm you're kidding right? Different surgery entirely. Different type of surgeon. Different equipment. Different recovery. What do they have to do with each other?

Protein Powder Mugcake
Thanks! Gonna try that. I've been doing versions of Eggface's protein powder cakes but this seems so much simpler!

Beans, etc.
But they are complex carbs, they aren't going to sit and turn to glucose. I'm vegetarian, most of my Protein comes from beans, it hasn't adversely effected my weight loss in the least.True, but pure protein first. Just quoting the rationale of the NUT Beans are protein. Protein with carbs though. For example a c of kidney beans has 13g protein but 37g carbs. Though I suppose you could subtract the 11g fiber for 26g net carbs. Not arguing the fact that they are VERY nutritionally advantageous, just saying why a nutritionist might prefer grilled chicken for a non vegetarian client (22g protein and 1g carbs for 4 oz)

Protein powder
You just gotta keep trying. Everyone's tastes are different. I like Syntax Matrix (PB Cookie and Mint Choc Chip are my favorites). Now that I'm in maintenance and can have a few more carbs I also love BSN SYNTHA 6 (Mochaccino! YUM)

Losing 85% of your stomach 4ever
Every bit of time spent waiting is another bit of time being obese. I am thrilled it's gone. And if they invent something "better" tomorrow I'm still fine with my choice. It worked. And I will live the rest of my life happy and healthy with a smaller stomach. People have had gastrectomies for decades for stomach cancer and lived full lives afterwards. So mine was done for a different reason, I am still happy and healthy.

Maintaining easily for over a year but a recent frustration developing. Thoughts?
I can totally relate! When I am cooking for my family (husband and two teens) it's easier because I just eat a modified version of what they have whether I like it or not. But when it's just me...he works late, they have school activities... Or it's lunch or something, I'm right there with you. For what it's worth, I say go for the insides of the pot pie. It's Protein and vegetables, right? Yeah probably more fat and a bit of carbs from the thickening flour and potatoes if there are any... But not a horrible choice! Especially if it's once a week not every day. But yeah, maybe get some staple go-to's to keep in stock. I do that, cook a bigger batch and freeze some, freeze some leftovers, etc, in single serving sizes.

Salmon?
As with everything try a small bit and see how it sits then you can eat more. Most people it seems have to issues with salmon, but I did! Hurt like heck first time I tried about a month out. Waited about 2 more months and had it again and it was fine!

10 Bariatric Mistakes - Do any apply to you?
I'm going to say again, different things work for different people. Check out some of the threads on moderation vs abstinence. Some people can lose weight having some ice cream (sugar free is what the person recommended), a few French fries here and there and, yes, pizza. Some doctors and dietitians preach abstinence some moderation, but more importantly abstinence works for some and moderation works for others. It's not a one size fits all. I am in the moderation camp about many things (sweets, fries, yes pizza)--and lost 135 lbs and am maintaining nicely using that plan. Other things which are triggers for me (bread, Pasta, crackers, chips) I abstain from entirely. Others make me sick so I don't eat (rice, carbonation). Did I eat ice cream on a regular basis to get Protein in? Heck no! But I warn against using too broad generalizations. 90% of the time I follow all the "rules" and 10% of the time I allow for some flexibility. It works for me and keeps me on plan and healthy!

What to do with clothes
I understand your thinking, and after my huge non surgical weightloss last time I did the same thing, but my therapist actually said that keeping them around is at least on some level saying to yourself that you plan to fail. You've failed before and you are planning to fail again. By getting rid of them, you are telling yourself and the world that you really have made the change for life. So, I'm definitely getting rid of mine. There's no way I'm going to go back to this. I just can't. I agree! Plus I don't have an attic or that much extra room! Why not let someone else enjoy them while they are in style!

Quest bars and weight loss
Everyone is different. Quest bars are a regular part of my diet. I consistently lost weight while using them. I'm in maintenance now and not gaining weight on them.

Salad
I was allowed at four weeks as tolerated. Lettuce was still difficult for me at that point, but by six weeks I was eating it in small amounts
