  1. I brought sooooooo much stuff!!!! All I used was: Chapstick Charger w extension cord My own pillow (they have plastic crinkly noisy covers on theirs) with a colored pillowcase so I knew easily which was mine Earplugs (though to be fair they had those there I didn't need to use mine) My glasses/contact lenses (brought the glasses in case they made me take the lenses out, but since I sleep in my lenses regularly they let me keep them) They provided everything else--toiletries, slippers/socks, an extra gown to wear as a robe, saline solution, heating pad etc etc. My hospital wouldn't let me use Any over the counter meds or anything so gas x or cough drops/lozenges were useless. I wanted lozenges so badly they wound up getting an ok from my surgeon and then gave me ones they provided.

I DID IT! I Reached My Goal!

    Congratulations!!!
  3. I'm sorry you had that experience. I had a hernia repaired as well and yeah that does add to the difficulty. Maybe my c section was harder than yours though, because the sleeve was still way easier for me. Though maybe it's because you actually get to rest after your sleeve, LOL. No crying baby/feedings round the clock!
  4. I'm with @@CowgirlJane no weight training? Ridiculous! Especially for the reason that it's heavy! Our goals should be health and fitness not a number on the scale. We should target losing FAT not pounds. Here's my thought--go for it! Why the heck not? What's the downside? You're six weeks out and cleared for exercise. I mean work towards that goal, but don't be heartbroken if you don't get there, just keep going for it for next time (do they only offer it once a year?). I don't see the harm in trying and then you will be even more prepared if you wind up having to take it next time to pass. One thing that hasn't been discussed--what level of functional fitness do you have now? I mean being an EMT can be a physically demanding job and sometimes even when we are obese we have a certain baseline of cardiovascular and muscle strength. Perhaps your base level is higher than we realize and it will help you get to that goal

    Today's WIN!

That is great! Can't wait for those results! You look amazing!Congrats in all the races you have been in also ???? Thank you!! Yes that's my bib wall in my bathroom, LOL!
  6. What is your sugar grams like? Is this really all the calories (you did say it was hard to log everything). If you are miss things your calorie count may be even higher
  7. Well for my program when I was in the losing phase (I'm in maintenance now) I would have had to have a much lower carb count and a higher Protein count. I needed at least 90g of protein (90-120) and fewer than 50g of carbs. Your overall calorie count here is about 1026. During my loss phase I averaged around 700-800 calories per day unless I ran 5 or more miles and then I added in 200-300 calories (or more if I was really running far). Lots of people on here say they can't lose on that many calories a day. I can, but tried to maximize that first year so I didn't. Plus it was just hard to get more than that in for the first year. You might try to lower your carb count. Play around with things

    Have I lost my mind?

You can totally do it! I did my first half marathon on a 5/1 run walk schedule! Great way to do it!

46 so I'm guessing 1984 is the year you were born bc of your screen name? Thus I would be (barely) old enough to be your mother! LOL

    Today's WIN!

Yay that's AWESOME! And what a great new idea for a thread. Here's mine for today... The towel not only wrapping all the way around my body (pre op, major gaposis) but wrapping literally 1.5 times around!

Wow! You look like 10 years younger! Yeah probably shouldn't say since I'm guessing I'm old enough to be your mom and I'm married ????
  12. Ok great that you've started tracking! What else have you noticed besides the water? What are your macros--fat/protein/carb percentages? What is your calorie total? How many grams of sugar?
  13. I always cringe when I hear this. I am so glad my program allows me to continue with protein shakes! Even at over two years out if I didn't supplement protein with shakes and powders and bars I wouldn't be able to get in all my protein

Post sleeve comfort foods -roll call!

Oh there's a whole thread on it been very active recently... If you search you will get better info, but basically--- I scoop Protein powder (one that has egg albumen as part of the protein works best like Syntrax Matrix) 1/4 tsp baking powder liquid to make the consistency of thick concrete Microwave in mug for about 45 sec I am at goal so I like to add about 1/3 of a ripe banana for most of the moisture... Or 2T pumpkin purée (not the pie mix, just straight pumpkin) plus pie spice and vanilla... Or applesauce and cinnamon... And I use fairlife milk but lots of options are discussed on the thread. SF whip cream or plain fage 0% Greek yogurt on top is awesome! Yes chili! Def a comfort food for me too

Post sleeve comfort foods -roll call!

Huh, fascinating! Thanks for sharing! Gonna have to try it
  17. eggs took me about six months to tolerate. meats other than fish or chicken about the same. The stuff I still can't tolerate I don't mind for the most part--bread, Pasta, it all gets gummy for me. Carbonation--I would love the very occasional beer, Kombucha, a Moscow mule. I can't do rice and don't mind it 90% of the time, but I do wish I could have it every once in a while in sushi. Dry anything is very very hard for a long time. Keep everything very moist and gradually you will probably be able to tolerate dryer things.

    Real Food!

I ate salmon every early on and had the same experience. Try a flakey white fish instead and put salmon off for a few months, I can eat it fine now! As for when are you full--don't think about being full. Think about being not hungry anymore or satisfied. Full isn't a good thing at this point (or maybe even ever again!). Eat to the point of satiety, not fullness. It might also help to measure your meals. Start with about 4 tablespoons of food. Eat that for a few meals or days and if it seems enough stay with that, or gradually increase to 1/4 c or eventually 1/2 cup until you get a feel for what satisfied feels like just eat what you measure.
  19. Of course like all generalizations there are exceptions. I had a two day and lost more than I ever expected--I'm 5'6" and lost from 271 to 135 and have been maintaining there for over a year now. So nothing is black and white. Just sayin so no one feels "doomed" by not having a two week pre op diet. It's all up to you! You can do it!

Tell me more about nutritional yeast! Roasted vegetables, especially root vegetables--turnips, carrots, beets, rutabaga... With a little olive oil and garlic. Good comfort food. Homemade turkey meatloaf. Add an egg, seasonings and no bread crumbs. Protein mug cakes
  22. Never tried any fermented foods to be honest, but Kombucha doesn't sit well in my stomach. Spicey stuff is no problem though

    When did you start exercising?

I started walking right away and started couch to 5k (with clearance from my doc) at six weeks out.
