  1. Check out the thrift stores...I didn't have much luck there...but I did get some jeans and shirts on clearance at wal mart. Heck I still do. Now that I can wear clothes that aren't plus size...I rack up on clearance!!! Don't buy but a few things at a time...you will not be in them long. I had one pair of jeans and one pair of dress pants and a few blouses....Best to all of you!!
  2. I tried to post this question to the vet forum, but would not let me ..said I had to be a year out which I am...so not really sure what's up with that. Anyway, when starting this journey, I had a weight in mind that I wanted to reach...somewhere between 185 and 200. Over the course of my journey, I have reached 218. Could I lose more? Absolutely. However...it has gotten to a point that my friends and family are asking me when am I going to stop. You see...I have bones protruding on top...but skin at the bottom which I think makes we look "funny" to start with. Plastics are in my future...but no time soon as I do not have the money as I am still paying for my sleeve procedure. So I go back to my question...When did you know you had lost "Enough".. I thank you in advance for your time and answers, Terri:)
  3. I can tell you that I have heard it all since surgery!! I just have to stop and consider the ignorant souce! LOL Best wishes and Happy New Year to all!! Terri:)

  6. RJ...you have been an inspiration to me! We each have our own journey and unfortunately yours has been a rough one. I appreciate the experience and insight you offer to all. I have lost most of my faith in the medial community...I hate it...but it's currently how I feel. You are needed and wanted here!! You are a sucess story...don't let ANYONE bring you down. You are alive and here....not sure about you but I am not sure I could have said that with the weight still on. You WILL get control of the health issues!! Take care girl and thank you for being here!!
  7. I haven't has any soda since my surgery in October of 13. I have known people that have...those same people have stretched their sleeve back out and have gained some if not all of their weight back. I would suggest laying them down for good. Best wishes to you!

  9. I am on the go alot and eat out. I typically eat the inside of a hamburger or taco for fast food. I wll eat off my husband or one of my kids plates or just bring home leftovers from a meal if we go to a sit down restaurant. I still do not eat bread, Pasta, tortillas- they make me uncomfortable. Otherwise, I just eat a few bites till I am full. Food really is not a big deal to me anymore so I don't really put much time into worrying about it. Best to all!!
  10. My family and I went camping for Thanksgiving! It was great! I prepared turkey, stuffing, sweet peas, corn, and lemon ice box pie. I had a bit of everything and we went for a hike afterwards. I was surprised when I got home with a two pound weight loss! Still loving the sleeve!!
  11. I say "go for it"...you will be glad you did and never look back! It is so nice to really not "worry" about what will be served for Thanksgiving. My family and I will be camping and I will eat a few bites of whatever....lol Love my sleeve!!
  12. One year ago today, I was having my gastric sleeve surgery done. Today I am down 125 pounds since the surgery! My life has changed so much for the better. I am so glad I made the decision I did. My doctor claims I added 20 years to my life! No more meds for me!
  13. I will be sleeved a year this month and I still will get a pain in my back by my shoulder blade...I know it's time to stop eating. Best to you in your journey!
  14. Well...I wasn't much of a drinker before but now...one glass of wine and I'm tipsy...two and I'm under the table! lol Love my sleeve!!
  15. My doctor said as soon as I was off pain meds...however they are all different. Best wishes to you!!
  16. Absolutely not! And believe me...Im almost 50 and once weighed 385...I have much skin! But nothing control top panty hose and a good bra can't handle! I went to give blood yesterday and my blood pressure was 119/72 with no meds! I had been on blood pressure meds since I was 18 years old! I went to the beach this year with my family..I wore a one piece and swim shorts and had a ball!! Spent most of my time in the ocean with my kids on a raft...I haven't been able to do that in years!! I wear a size 18 now...almost a 16 and I am thrilled about it! I once wore a 36 pant! And I feel great!! So I say again...absolutely not! I took and still take Biotin for the hair issue...I have a head full again! Also, I take 3 stool softeners a day...you can get them at Sam's for under $10 I believe...problem solved. I wish you the best and pray that you become comfortable with the new you!
  17. I was 49 and 5'7" and 352 the day of surgery(Oct.21, 2013) . I am at 241 today with 41 more to go...maybe. I'm just going to see how I look and feel. Best to you!!
  18. Not sure if you can stomach this but sugar free gatoraide/poweraid helped me in the beginning. It was tough back then but no regrets! You will feel better...I promise!! Take care!!
  19. For me, honesty has been my policy. I tell everyone! I remember thinking back years ago when Star Jones had her weight loss surgery but wouldn't admit it...she knew she had it and everybody else did too! She just looked crazy with the "eating right and exercising" line. People who I work with, went to school with and so on know I have been big my entire life. I have absolutely zero problem telling them I had the sleeve and many ask me about the procedure. Hey...maybe I've helped someone!!
  20. Don't know if anyone has tried them but I did the Premier Protein from Sams. They got me thru the rough times of not being able to eat. I could not take the powder shakes either...I would just gag! When I was able to eat more...stewed chicken was my saving grace. I still cannot eat grilled chicken as it feels like it's going to choke me to death..I still eat alot of greek yogurt as that has always gone down well. You will make it thru...you are in the toughest times now...I promise you it WILL get much better!! Best to you!!
  21. You look great! Keep up the good work! You have found your groove. I think alot of people go in thinking it will be an easy journey...boy do I have news for them! lol Congrats on your wedding! You will be a beautiful bride!
  22. I took that drug three seperate times....oh yes I would lose ..but as others have said I would gain it back and then some. I lost 85 pounds the last time I took it...put back on 52...then got my sleeve. Best to you!
  23. Thank yall so much!! I wish everyone the best on your personal journey! We can do this!!!
