  2. Thank you. My body doesn't want to eat. If my brain didn't want to eat, I'd be all good. Good luck to you.
  3. My name is Shannon. I'm 44, married, with 3 sons. I had gastric bypass on 9/23/15..it will be 3 weeks tomorrow. As I am physically getting better, I'm emotionally getting worse. It is so hard to imagine not being able to eat my favorite foods again. I hate seeing food commercials, restaurants, or thinking about chocolate. I started this journey, 2 weeks pre-op at 253 pounds and today, I weighed 215.6. I'm happy about the weight loss but I'm so depressed about not eating. Any encouragement or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. I can relate. I cried today. I keep thinking how I won't be able to eat what I want again. It's so depressing, esp. while sitting in the living room listening to my family eat dinner. My surgery was 9/23..3 weeks tomorrow. Im 44 years old and i live in Richmond VA. My email is shannonmri2009@gmail.com if you want to talk.
  5. Hi..I need a gastric bypass buddy too. I feel alone in this. I have a wonderful husband of 21 years and 3 sons, my parents and friends, but they can't truly understand what I am going through. My surgery was 9/23/15. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks. My surgery lasted 6 1/2 hours because of adhesions and a hiatal hernia. I'm still hurting physically but dealing with this emotionally is much harder than I expected. Btw...I live in Richmond, VA.

  12. I'm on Day 4 of no soda! It seems to only bother me in the evening.
  13. today is Day 1 of me going cold turkey off of diet Pepsi..I'm making it but I really wanted some when I got home from work so I dumped it so it wouldn't bother me so bad.
  14. . Thank you for telling me this...more reason to give it up for good.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I am going to have to quit cold turkey. I did that with cigarettes. I know it will hard but I never have expected this process to be easy.

  20. Thank you for your advice. I'm going to switch from diet Pepsi to water. I think that will be my first hurdle.

  24. Thank you so much for your response. I was in the middle of the 6 month weight loss visits and I found out that if I switched to my company's insurance instead of my husbands'..then it would be paid 100% with a $100 copayment and there isn't a waiting period if I have the surgery with a surgeon associated with the Health System where I work, So, the new insurance starts on 1/1. I've had the psychiatric evaluation, a sleep study, and seen the dietitian at the first surgeon I went to. I have went to a seminar about getting the sleeve surgery with the new surgeon. I have an appt with the surgeon and their dietitian on 12/18. The Program Director told me they would then schedule me for an endoscopy. I might be able to have the surgery by late January or early Feb. I will probably not schedule it until mid- Feb so it will be after my son's birthday. I am excited and very scared. I only know what life is like overweight.

  26. Thanks. I need to get off the diet Pepsi. I figure if I quit smoking..then I'll get through my DP addiction.

  28. I was told no carbonated drinks after the sleeve. Is this true? I am very early in this process.
  29. I just joined Bariatric pal. I am 43 yrs old and 250 pounds. I am meeting with the surgeon on 12/18 and was told I would then be scheduled for an endoscopy. I am hoping to be approved for the Sleeve around the beginning of next year. I am very scared but I don't admit that to my family or friends bc they are scared for me. I would appreciate any pre-surgery advice. Thanks!
