  1. My pre-op diet was a little bit different. All I had to do was lose 10% of my body weight before the surgery, and so I did. For two months I pushed myself and lost 34 pounds, which was much more than i needed to lose. Then they scheduled my surgery and I ate well for the next few weeks and lost much slower but still it came off. Then a week before i had to start liquids I ate whatever I wanted. and Im glad I did. It was my goodbye to food. For a little while anyway. I felt like I needed it and for me it worked. I got it out of my system. Then I started liquids and was committed. However I had a much easier time of it than most because mine was only three days!

  2. Wow but @ 247 and 5'11 i wouldnt expect any excess skin cuz ur tall im 5'0 and 250 so now i can only imagine....are u gonna get it fixed?

No I dont think so. Maybe much later in life but right now i am pretty okay with it. Plus I don't have insurance so i paid out of pocket for my vsg. There is nothing left at all for plastic surgery

  3. Any excess skin? And what waa yur biggest problem since then?

I have some on my arms, stomach and upper thighs but it is nothing compared to what i thought it would be. It has mostly bounced back. My biggest problem so far has been lack of energy. I don't get enough Protein so i am constantly tired. Also I bruise EXTREMELY easily. There are a hundred little problems but it is nothing compared to my fat problems.. if ya know what i mean. :)

  4. I'm still pre-op, (surgery is in 10 days!), but I've got a few confessions...

    1. One reason I'm going to Mexico to have my surgery is because I didn't think I'd pass the psyke eval.

    2. I'm more afraid of the flight down there than anything about the surgery.

    3. I'm not telling my dad, or any of my extended family if I can help it.

    4. I'll be in Mexico while my 4th baby brother is being born.

    5. Sometimes I think I'm too young for this (18), but I didn't go to my junior or senior prom because I didn't feel pretty enough to wear a dress, and I don't want to let my weight take any more of my life away from me.

    6. I've been weighing myself several times a day since I started pre-op. I'm down 10 pounds, but I'm pretty sure most of it is Water.

    7. I ate an entire large pizza the day before my pre-op started.

    8. I'm terrified of loose skin and losing my hair.

    9. I've been so focused on my upcoming surgery that I've been slacking in my college classes.

    10. My biggest hope for this is that I'll finally be pretty enough to attract a mate.

My name is Olivia and I am sixteen years old. I was sleeved in June of this year and it was the best decision of my life. My surgeon told me that because I am so young i will have much less excess skin and my body will be more receptive to the surgery in almost every way. I am positive that you will do great and i wish the very best for you. Don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions or just want to talk :)

  5. 1) I confess that I eat fast food about three times a week (all low cal high protein) but i still feel bad.

    2) I confess that I think i eat way too much in one sitting and constantly worry if i am stretching out my sleeve

    3) I confess I only get about 45g of Protein on a good day.

    4) I confess I drink a soda about once a week

    5) I confess that when i look in the mirror i see a completely new person that i love. I am just terrified that since i had the surgery at such a young age (I am 16) that i will regain by the time i am 20.

Wow. That did feel good! I like this thread.

  6. This is not quite as healthy as other above suggestions but if you are just looking for a good crunchy snack there are a bunch of 100 calorie popcorn bags. I am three months out and can only eat about half a bag at a time. It is the only time i really feel like i am getting a whole lot of of crunchy goodness without feeling too guilty afterward

  7. Wow, thank you! I sleep on the couch right now because I am in between beds at the moment. I do not have a recliner but will def check sales! Did you stock up on Protein Shakes or anything before surgery? Im not sure what to get. They said to buy some now and try it so I would know what I like but I can not afford to just buy a bunch of them. I am planning on getting the bariatric Vitamins.< /p>

I absolutely DESPISE Protein shakes. I did not have any before the surgery and after they gave me Isopure which was terrible. The best I have found so far is the Unjury which is pretty popular. They also have a sampler pack which is relatively cheap and allows you to try a bunch of different flavors. My favorite is the chocolate splendor. Honestly I dont drink as many protein shakes as I should but when I do it is by far the best.

  8. First of all I would buy a recliner if you don't already have one or set up your bed with LOTS of pillows. Nobody told me how painful it would be after surgery when trying to sleep. It is impossible to sleep on your side and after about an hour gets very uncomfortable. The best solution i found was a reclining chair. I would also but some low calorie apple juice. It was the only thing that i actually enjoyed during the liquid phase. I would freeze a couple of ounces and then mix it with Water after it was frozen to make a slushie. It felt especially good after the surgery when i had a soar throat from the intubation.

  9. Hi, my name is Olivia and I am sixteen years old. I was sleeved June 25th of 2013 and this looked like a cool group. I have lost 78 pounds total, about 30 pre-op and the rest since the surgery. I have been consistently losing more than ten pounds a month however this last week i gained four pounds. It kind of freaked me out. I have been taking in more calories that my usual 700 lately but mostly not over 1000 and NEVER over 1300. It seemed to come on so fast.I usually exercise much more than I did this week due to bronchitis but it still seems like i should be at least maintaining at my calorie intake. Has this happened to anybody else?
