I understand your frustration but lossing 10lbs is still good!! Focus on the good!! I'm 1yr post op and not where I wanted to be!! I was 198 on the day of surgery so I started off with less to lose but had a reasonable goal of 145 after 1 yr!! I have struggle the last 5 months with little weight loss!! Due to life changes moving and stressors it's been hard to do right!! I have also STILL not reached the "green zone" and I currently at 7cc in a 11cc band. Just got to 7cc today!! The doctor is my new one since the move but he said not to lose hope!! Just keep with it!! I'm also taking meds that increase my appetite which makes my journey even harder!! I have to remind myself daily that I can do this!! That I'm strong!! And after 1 yr I have to remind myself where I was!! I was a sz 16-18 pants at the beginning and now I'm a sz 8 so although the scale isn't where I want the inches are going!! That's another good thing to do!! Measure yourself!! That way you can see the changes there sometimes there is no weight change but the are inches going!! Don't lose hope!! I remind myself still and we must continue reminding ourself a daily forever!! It's a life journey and you just started!! I recently got a tattoo..I'm a tattoo girl...lol but it was my way to help me remember to believe in myself!! And it's on my wrist so when I exercise and eat I see it!! It's my way of remember I can do it!! We all have our things that's mine...find something to help you keep the faith in yourself!! It helps!!! Good luck!! We all support each other!

I'm sure your doctor knows best but sounds like you could use a very small unfill. I see so many folks here with bands so tight they eventually evolve into a slip or dilated pouch or esophagus.
food should only stay in your pouch for one minute. If it's still there 4 hours later, that's a problem.

I recently just had the lap band done and I told everyone who didn't need to know that I had a hernia repaired....which I actually did have a hiatia hernia repaired during the gastric banding...just a thought... Good luck !! Being discreet is the hardest thing I have come across so far...since I'm so excited about my journey....

Hi, I had surgery on 9/19...almost 3 mos out. The amount of food is quite different from what I was used to eating. I had lap band with plication. I'm eating 3 meals and 1 small snack (sometimes between lunch and dinner)...Round about 1000 calories give or take. I bought myself a bunch of salad plates and that is what I use for my dinner plate.
You will get a ton of different responses from people....many say 1 cup of food per meal, others go by ounces and cups....others eyeball it....some are eating a few bites and are done. Much of that will depend on your docs instructions and how your restriction is after surgery. I still haven't had a fill and am doing okay....it is VERY individualized!!!!!
I follow my nutritionists instructions....most important is getting in your recommended grams of Protein (again, varies by doctor).
This is a great site with wonderful people who are here to support you! Wishing you all the best!

Ok...so my surgery was approved by tricare!!!! OMG!!!! So excited but scared! Now waiting on tricare to inform me if my fills will be covered...can't get the surgery if follow up care is not covered! Praying it is and I have the green light to go ahead with the surgery!! Well....question to all....can someone give me an idea on how much they eat daily? So I can start wrapping everything in my head!! Thanks again for the followers and support!

My journey has been great so far. I've lost about 66lbs in three months. I'm one of the lucky ones that didn't feel ravenous following surgery. My real hunger didn't really return until last month. I've not yet needed a fill. I eat maybe 4 meals a day. I came off my blood pressure meds about a month after surgery. My arthritis pain is manageable. I sleep better. I smile more. Life is really good.

Congrats on your decision and we are all pulling for your approval. That was the most anxiety provoking thing for me initially...waiting and fretting a rejection from the insurance co.

The LB program at the hospital I'm using and my insurance require an overnight hospital stay. This was my first time admitted to a hospital so I was a little nervous, but it was a very good experience. I walked a lot in the night -- every time I had to get up to pee I walked. With a saline drip, that's a lot of getting up for the bathroom! I slept on and off in the night and then this morning was taken to radiology for a barium swallow. This was not the big deal I imagined. Two sips of chalky tasting liquid are swallowed as the radiologist captures the images to make sure band is well-placed, no leaks, etc. That went well and I am back in my room drinking tea. nurse has been in for a second Heparin shot (one yesterday, too). I've seen the nutritionist about the diet for the next two weeks before I see her again. The surgeon will do rounds in a while and then I will be released. And I'll see him again next week, the week after, etc. My incisions are a little sore and my throat is dry and a bit sore. The tea feels great on that. I wasn't able to have liquids after midnight because of the swallow so that didn't help the throat and dry mouth. The stiffness in the shoulder area and the feeling of weight on the chest got better with every walk, and I also remembered something another bandit shared about trying the happy baby pose. This really helped open up the chest. I am getting my regular clothes on soon. That's the report for the morning! Good luck every one and very best wishes.

Countrysweet - most every single person who had WLS, was able to stick to a diet and lose lots of weight. The issue is ALWAYS......maintaining that loss. For me, I've lost and gained the same 90-100 pounds several times. And that is not to mention the smaller losses & gains in between. Now, being older, it was painfully clear that anything other than divine intervention, I needed this surgery to help me get my weight down to a healthy place. If any of us were able to stick to a diet long term, and/or maintain that loss lifelong, we wouldn't be here. But we can't.....and we've proven that over and over again. I've dropped 56 pounds since March, and I have absolutely no regrets. I would do this a millions time over!
Having WLS is a very personal choice. People in your life are going to say what they will, but at the end of the day, it's all about YOU, and what you want/need for YOUR life. I agree with the above posters, in that all of the feelings you are having are completely normal. It's a huge step, and not one to be taken lightly. I also had all the "what if's"; what if I go through all of this and either don't lose, or gain all the weight back? It's important to understand that the possibility is always there. The band is a tool for us to work with, not cure us. But I have to say, I was feeling pretty hopeless before this surgery, and now I'm elated.
Sending the best of luck to you

What you're feeling is TOTALLY normal! I too had second thoughts. I remember the night before surgery laying awake, and asking my husband "WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING?!?!?"! This decision is really life changing, and as with anything life changing there's always going to be a whirlwind of emotions, along with 'what if's'.
For me, I just had to step back and remember what brought me to this point in the first place. I had to think about all the years of yo-yo dieting....yes, I could take weight off, but the second I fell off the wagon I always gained it all back. I also had to think of my well being. At 300lbs I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without being winded, or I'd sit on the floor to play with my kids but couldn't get back up. I wasn't living the life I knew I wanted to live.
I can tell you that the band has changed my life. I'm 9 months out and have lost 120lbs. Yes, I still have a bad day every now and then, and in the past I would have given up and put the weight right back on. Now, I have my band as a reminder...not only there to remind me how to eat, but also to remind me of where I've been and where I never want to go back to again. I have no regrets.
At the end of the day, you need to do what's best for YOU! Don't let anyone else's reaction influence your decision. It's your life, and you deserve to live it to the fullest! Wishing you the best of luck!
