  1. That is awesome to hear that I inspire somebody. It wasn't long ago that I was in your shoes!!! Keep up the good work!
  2. Congrats!! Keep the great mindset especially without having a fill. I'm at 7cc in a 10cc band and STILL I sometimes find myself going back to old habits. Back on track now. You are doing great keep it up!!
  3. Look at you girlfriend!!! HUGE difference! WAY TO GO!! I am the same with my loss too... I don't see it unless I look at side by sides of myself. Decided to do that today and I was shocked!!
  4. Finally in onederland and feeling happy yet scared that I'm going take a quick trip back to twoderville. I hate being on the fence. I think I'll feel better at 180 at least to know I won't slide back into the 200's with just 1 meal.
  5. I don't count cals. Only carbs. It seems to be working for me so far
  6. Yeah I'm sure that's okay. I ate a panini as my first meal after my 1 week check up. I ate half first and half a few hours later and chewed it insanely well but hey I lost 17 lbs the first month which isn't bad. My loss is fairly "slow" but I have made mistakes. This is an addiction to overcome so it takes time and takes some stumbling and getting back up. I finally got to onederland today!!
  7. Okay soooo I have been having an insane time drinking this summer. Too much partying because my theory is that I work hard and once I start the nursing program in the fall, I won't be able to do anything for basically two years. I am on new meds though which makes drinking a little dangerous so now I have to slow down. Anyways... I usually drink Apple Martini flavored crystal light with apple Bacardi (used as a mixer while downing shots of bacardi). When I low-carb, vodka and Bacardi doesn't kick me out of ketosis if I mix it with crystal light or another low-carb beverage like Powerade zero or something like that. The only problem with drinking and low-carbing is that while your body has alcohol in it, it won't burn off any fat until it burns off all of the alcohol. Drinking isn't really the reason for my weight loss stalls but I'm sure it hasn't helped any because I did for awhile go back to eating crappy junk food and whatnot and that made me have the "whatever" mindset that I could drink sugary drinks too. Fall two times, get back up three, that's what this is about. As long as you pick yourself up you are fine. I am finally back in ketosis (I believe) can't test yet because I'm on meds for a uti which stain the ketostix. Anywayss...don't feel bad...you aren't the only one who has been there. I also have broke the rules at the bar and had vodka tonics even though we aren't supposed to have bubbles. Lemme know if you wanna go out for a drink this summer!!
  8. MEEEE!!! But you already knew that : )
  9. So let your doctor know and ask if you can switch to soft foods and just chew them really well. I went straight from liquids to solids the week later and was just advised to chew well. I never had any issues.
  10. pre-op I wish I didn't allow myself to gain 10 lbs before surgery day. Post-op I wish I had been sticking to my low-carb plan the whole time. I have strayed and did not lose a thing the entire month or March or May. Back on Track now. Time to stick with it!!
  11. Okay so about 1-2x per year since I was 2 years old I get severe migraines to the point where the vertigo is so bad and I can't do anything except for lie in bed and puke for 24+ hours. I get severely dehydrated and usually end up in the ER. I'm wondering if anyone has had headaches like mine and survived with throwing up with the band. I'm going to call my dr but it didn't occur to me until it happened that this vomiting is violent to the point where I will throw up bile if there is nothing left in my stomach. Worried :-/ everything seems to be normal now 3 days later, eating the same and everything. Hydration is my main focus of course right now.
  12. I have finally hit the -50 lb mark. I'm about 1 lbs to onederland but I just don't see it. I don't feel much different. Is it because I'm only half way there? Idk maybe it's because I haven't been doing the best with my diet and haven't lost any significant weight this past month. Feeling down that's all ????
  13. I am sorry but if we accepted being fat then we wouldnt be on here, having surgeries to change it. I am all about self-confidence and I know that I will never ever in my life be what society considers "thin" but I am not going to accept my fate of being fat. I'm going to try like hell to change it. It's okay to accept people of every body type and shape, as we should but I, personally, am not accepting the fat. That goes for me about myself. I am currently seeing someone who weighs 320 lbs and I find every bit of him to be sexy but if he wants to change it, that's his prerogative not mine!
  14. I thought that Sharon Osbourne also had the lap band because there was big controversy over her having it removed.
  15. Welcome to Bandster hell
  16. Try low carb dieting or at least upping your dense Protein intake. It seems to be the only thing that works for me. My Dr has told me that the band is like a sand timer, whem you put sand in the timer it goes through slowly but if you put pebbles in the timer it will go through much slower. We look at the carbs as the sand and protein as the pebbles. Protein will fill you quicker and keep you fuller longer. I have to stay away from carbs and sugars or I will go on a never ending binge. I carb cycle though (2 weeks low carb then 1 week normal) it seems to be working for me. I am down 46 lbs in 4 months.
  17. My dr is the same way. Always in a hurry with everything. That is why we all have each other here!
  18. First and only consult with surgeon Oct 28. Nov 15 Nutritionist appt. Nov 25 recieved letter of Medical Necessity, Dec 6 psych eval. January 23 surgery date. So less than 3 months total. Out of Pocket cost $509
  19. I'm sorry to say this but I am on a low carb high fat diet and I don't have cravings. I do treat myself to a sugar free ice pop or candy every once in awhile and I do have weeks where I carb up for the week. Maybe thats why on my low carb weeks my cravings go away pretty much completely idk
  20. I have some friends who are recovering heroin addicts (yes I used to float with the "bad crowd", no I never personally got into it, I had other addictions, food being one of them.) I was visiting with a few of them for a couple days and I told them about my low carb diet and they tried to say things like "oh just one slice of pizza wouldn't hurt". I told them that was like saying "oh just one bag of heroin wouldn't hurt and you wouldn't become addicted all over again." They got my point but one of them said to me "don't tell me your food addiction is the same thing". Well no its not the exact same but they are both addictions that are extremely hard to overcome. Chances of relapsing are very high with both. Both addictions could eventually kill you. Am I really wrong for using that exact analogy?
  21. Fresh dill the spice and I chop the shrimp into pieces it's so awesome you have got to try it!
  22. I just made this this morning and remembered how much I missed it. This is my step mom's recipe. 1lb shrimp- cooked, peeled, chilled 2-3 stalks of celery chopped Dill- chopped (I use dill singles, used to taste) Lemon (about 1/4 lemon ) Mayonnaise (1-2 large scoops) Salt and pepper to taste Combine ingredients and enjoy this is great by itself, on a roll (if you are able to eat rolls) or on a bed of romaine!
  23. Okay I'm following you as WendyDarling19 on Instagram
  24. Trying not to trouble my thoughts with the unknown is not something I can do very well lol. That's all I ever do with everything hehe. I will try my best. My asking because I'm curious and I seem to see a little bit of rippling in my belly already and I'm not even 1/2 way to goal
  25. Maybe you should move your question to the pregnancy with the lap band forum to receive more replies
