  1. No occasionally I really slip towards the junk like I had a small piece of cake at an office party. Or I would sometimes have bread in a sandwich or toast with breakfast or a wrap with breakfast. I try my best not to mess with these foods at all though. Before when my band was looser I was eating a lot of junk still just in smaller quantities. Now I really try to stick as much as possible to the proteins. My problem is no time!!! I just ran to the food store real quick and bought some rotisserie chicken salad just to have in the fridge for these times I need to just "grab and go"
  2. So when it comes to eating the good stuff (protein, veg, fiber etc) I eat very little and am satisfied very quickly and don't get hungry again for a few hours maybe even as long as 8-12 hours!! I have noticed though if I eat carbs I can eat unlimited amounts basically and feel hungry right away. My surgeon told me before I had the band that it doesn't work for carbs so try not to eat them... Being a carbaholic... A do indulge sometimes. It really is harboring me though I feel. I'm not losing as quickly as I was in the beginning. I went the whole month of March with no loss. Now it looks after my second fill and losing 7 lbs 3 weeks ago almost immediately that I've stopped again... It's frustrating but I'm not jumping to conclusions yet. I thought I was in the green. I just need to pay better attention to my band but I honestly don't even have time to go food shopping between working overnights and going directly to school and studying. I barely have time for sleep as that is a luxury. I'm hoping to get into a better routine when school ends in a month.
  3. Forgot also to mention surgery was outpatient and I went food shopping on the way home. I used a motorized scooter and was kind of exhausted (also because I worked overnight before surgery) but surgery wasn't really bad at all. Just to give you an idea!
  4. It could also be gas stuck in your chest. It happens to get stuck there so often. so make sure you walk around as it's the only way to re-absorb and get it out
  5. Started at 250 now at 223
  6. Surgery 1/23/2014 -27 lbs!! Yay! Just reached my sweet spot about 2 weeks ago at 5.5-6 ccs
  7. Dr Ward is great IMO. The only thing I was unsure about was he had me back to work on 1 week and as a nursing assistant it was a little rough for the first few days (I had to ask for extra pain meds) I was back to school after 5 days. My only issue with work was bending though for maybe 3-4 days. I call him speedy Gonzales because he gets you back to normal life as quick as possible. I did liquids/softs like puddings etc for a week and then at my 1 week post op he told me it was okay to have solids. I was surprised but also excited because I wanted food haha. The swelling didn't allow me to eat too too much though. His advice is to eat slowly and chew well which I found to work pretty well. Also if you see a NUT, try to remember the guidelines and go by that: protein first then veg then carb if you have room. My first fill was 4 weeks post op and he is generous w/ fills. I had about 3cc or so put in. It helped but I was still able to eat a significant amount (def not as much as pre op though). Another 4 weeks (about 2 weeks or so ago) I had fill # 2 and I'm at a total of about 5.5-6cc and I believe I'm at my sweet spot. If I take too big a bite or don't chew well enough with some stuff it seems to go down too rough but other than that I feel pretty good. I can go all day with only eating 1 significant meal sometimes and maybe a protein drink or a naked juice to keep the energy up. Also, make sure you weigh yourself before surgery because they didn't weigh me. I had gained 10 lbs pre op between my 1st consult and surgery day (3 months) and they just go by my first weigh in. I think they said I lost 5 when in reality it was like 12 or something. Also, he didn't do a pre op diet for me which some people say sucks because they have to pump you with more CO2. I have to admit I had a ton of gas pain but if you move around a lot post op the gas pain will be gone after day 3. I relaxed day 1 and was up showering day 2 with the help of bf. Moved around some more on day 3. Any more questions feel free to pm me
  8. Mine was a chicken cheese flatbread panini. Took me awhile to eat it. I ate 1/2 at first and saved the rest for another day. It was a week post op. I did 1 week liquids then straight to solids. My dr told me as long as I took small bites and chewed well I would be okay. So far so good, 2 months out.
  9. Thank you! I hope I'm in the green! Only time and more weight loss will tell. I don't think I'll be truly convinced unless I lose a little more
  10. How big were you when you started? I'm worried because I'm 225 and having a hard enough time with Pilates
  11. Not sure if you read my whole post. I'm pretty restricted. Def not in bandster hell anymore. It's not that I KEEP eating. I eat very little and am not hungry often at all actually. It's just that everything seems to go down as it should (pretty much) I have had a few uncomfortable episodes but no stuck episodes
  12. I am a little over 2 months out -26 lbs. I feel good with my restriction however haven't encountered anything I can't eat. If I eat slow and chew well I can eat anything just not as much of it. Is this bad? I am sort of expecting to not be able to eat certain things but I'm not so sure I need another fill. I have somewhere in between 5.5 and 6cc. Any thoughts?
  13. are your knees shot from crossfit or just from other things?
  14. I'm still in the morbidly obese category as I was only banded 2 months ago. I'm -25 lbs so it's working slowly but surely. I am doing Pilates in school 2x a week but am thinking about trying crossfit in the summer because it's high intensity and I need someone yelling at me lol. I like that kind of workout style. I am just wondering if anyone has tried being SO overweight still and has been able to keep up.
  15. Turned 23 in December, my birthday present to myself was my band. I was banded Jan 23. Sorry it didn't work out for you these complications scare the crap out of me especially knowing they are very common! So far so good though. I just hit my first short term goal which I wanted to do -25 by the end of March. Hoping for -25 more by the end of July. Don't know we will see! The sleeve is very good. I know a few people at my work (hospital) who have it and have lost a ton of weight. It melts off because they physically can't eat as much. They don't have to mess around with bandster hell and adjustments. I am just too chicken about the fact that they cut 75-80% of your stomach off. One of the main reasons I am doing this is to become body ready for a baby in a few years. I had a son 1 1/2 years ago who was stillborn due to many complications which aren't necessarily attributed to weight but definitely didn't help the situation. I want to be able to have an unfill when I do become pregnant. Good luck!!
  16. My doctor pokes around for a bit. I'm surprised your gave up after poking only twice. Mine poked about 5 or so times 2 days ago for my second fill. The first time he got it on the second try. Trust him though. Maybe there truly is too much inflammation. He IS the professional afterall.
  17. I had my 2nd fill today for a total of 5.5-6cc (dr said somewhere in between) I know I'm probably still a little swollen (that happens after a fill right?) but I am just curious what I would be looking for as far as being in the green. I assume it'll happen soonish since I'm a bit more than 1/2 way filled. Also, if you can please share what you are filled at (not that it truly matters since everyone is different, just curious). Thanks!!!
  18. It doesn't make sense to have so little in your band. Ask the doctor why they are putting so little in. I had my surgery Jan 23rd and 4 weeks later I had my first fill at 3cc. I go Monday and hopefully getting another which is again 4 weeks later. My Dr. does move along quickly though so idk.
  19. I had a fill about 4 weeks ago and still feel ravenous. I have an appointment with my Dr Monday but I'm not sure if he is doing another fill or not. Is this too soon or is it adequate time?
  20. Hello! Awesome you live so close to me!! My doctor only gave me a week off because he is like speedy Gonzales. I had a rough time bending the first day or two because I'm a nursing assistant in the maternity unit and I still had some pain meds to get me through. I was fine well after 2 weeks. So far, I have lost about 20 lbs and its been almost two months. Haven't seen any weight loss in a few weeks though. I have an appointment Monday though and I'm hoping for another fill. I only have 3 CC's now but I feel hungry all of the time which kind of sucks : /
  21. OMG!! I cannot for the life of me stay away from sweets! I really had no problem and I was low -carbing but as soon as I start PMSing I need sugar!!! I just finished off a piece of cake. How in the world was I able to even eat that? I feel crappy and I don't want to do it again. I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue and how they take care of it
  22. thanks! At the end of the day I go by the scale because I know the certain weight I want to be. That's just what works for me. It keeps me in check to weigh almost every day. I don't get discouraged I just use it as I guide. My clothes are fitting much nicer now too! But years ago when I lost weight I had a hard time serif that and believing the smaller sizes because I still saw myself as fat when I totally wasn't! The number on the scale tells me it's working because I can't see it on myself. Idk it's weird lol. I know it fluctuates though so I absolutely take that into consideration
  23. Okay so according to the scale this morning I'm 2.7 away from my first short term goal of -25 lbs. I have been stuck in the 230s for what feels like forever! Yesterday I saw 231.0 but it was midday and I had already eaten. Today I just woke up and haven't eaten yet... I weighed at 227.6! Awesome! And yes I weigh almost every day... Don't judge, you know you do it too! It helps me keep on track. Anyways... I think it's lying to me! I haven't seen this weight since pre-pregnancy with my angel which was 2 years ago! Idk
  24. I too am a bandster. I would really like to see my first short term goal of 25 lbs down by the end of March...which is another 6 lbs away. I don't think thats too much to ask for. Yes I weigh and measure but I dont trust measuring as an accurate way since you can never measure EXACTLY the same place you did before. I have always been dependant on the numbers because when I lose it seems to show, for some people it doesnt. We will see how it goes when I start exercising though. My opinion may change. As of now, I just did a keto-stick and I am on the borderline of moderate and heavy ketosis...woohoooooo!! To me that is exciting to see! Now I know I am burning fat and not muscle : ) hoping to see those 6 lbs melt off! I have always wanted to stick to low-carb for longer but felt so darn hungry. Now with the band I dont have to worry about the hunger : ) awesome!
