    Death and sadness.

I know what it's like to lose a child, only in a much different way. There are still many similarities. I gave birth to my sleeping angel Anthony John "AJ" October 21 2012. I was only 21 years old. It's not an easy thing for anyone to have to go through. That's part of the reason I had my surgery. I want to better myself for future babies. I had a placenta abruption due to pre-eclampsia. Although my weight was not a factor in my illness, I'm sure it didn't help. So sorry for your losses. I know the pain all too well. It's different but still, being a parent and feeling responsible and feeling like it should have been you instead of them... that this is unnatural and unfair...I understand that very much. From there, I just look at him as my inspiration for everything positive in life. He keeps me going. I live my entire life, every single day, in his honor. Every thing I do is still for him, just as if he were here on Earth because I know he is out there somewhere watching me and I want to make him proud.

    Alcohol

I usually try to stick to spirits if I drink and believe me...when I drink I binge drink out of control... It's summer and I'm 23. Last summer free before I have to buckle down for nursing school so you do the math! I do drink until oblivion but I also low carb and I usually drink bacardi and crystal light. I end up in the morning with little to no hangover. The first time I binged after my surgery I had drank vodka (smirnoff lemon) mixed with crystal light lemonade and the volume of it itself had me throwing up the next morning. Be careful with that! I am careful to only have one or two mixed drinks and just do shots along with them if/ when I drink. I also didn't drink any sort of alcohol until 4 months post op. The alcohol hasn't affected my weight gain/loss at all and I usually drink like that about 1x-2x a week.

    My 11th Year Surgiversary!

Congrats Alex!! Way to go and way to keep inspiring all of us and allowing us to inspire each other!
  4. Finally in onederland and feeling happy yet scared that I'm going take a quick trip back to twoderville. I hate being on the fence. I think I'll feel better at 180 at least to know I won't slide back into the 200's with just 1 meal.

    Wendy in onederland!

We have similar stats as well! Except you were banded after me! Way to go wow!!

    Wendy in onederland!

We definitely are band sisters. Our stats are so much alike!! Let's keep it going, we can do it!!

    Wendy in onederland!

That is awesome to hear that I inspire somebody. It wasn't long ago that I was in your shoes!!! Keep up the good work!
  8. Congrats!! Keep the great mindset especially without having a fill. I'm at 7cc in a 10cc band and STILL I sometimes find myself going back to old habits. Back on track now. You are doing great keep it up!!
  9. Look at you girlfriend!!! HUGE difference! WAY TO GO!! I am the same with my loss too... I don't see it unless I look at side by sides of myself. Decided to do that today and I was shocked!!

Alcohol + summer = slow weight loss

I don't count cals. Only carbs. It seems to be working for me so far

    Autism and sensory issues

Yeah I'm sure that's okay. I ate a panini as my first meal after my 1 week check up. I ate half first and half a few hours later and chewed it insanely well but hey I lost 17 lbs the first month which isn't bad. My loss is fairly "slow" but I have made mistakes. This is an addiction to overcome so it takes time and takes some stumbling and getting back up. I finally got to onederland today!!

Alcohol + summer = slow weight loss

Okay soooo I have been having an insane time drinking this summer. Too much partying because my theory is that I work hard and once I start the nursing program in the fall, I won't be able to do anything for basically two years. I am on new meds though which makes drinking a little dangerous so now I have to slow down. Anyways... I usually drink Apple Martini flavored crystal light with apple Bacardi (used as a mixer while downing shots of bacardi). When I low-carb, vodka and Bacardi doesn't kick me out of ketosis if I mix it with crystal light or another low-carb beverage like Powerade zero or something like that. The only problem with drinking and low-carbing is that while your body has alcohol in it, it won't burn off any fat until it burns off all of the alcohol. Drinking isn't really the reason for my weight loss stalls but I'm sure it hasn't helped any because I did for awhile go back to eating crappy junk food and whatnot and that made me have the "whatever" mindset that I could drink sugary drinks too. Fall two times, get back up three, that's what this is about. As long as you pick yourself up you are fine. I am finally back in ketosis (I believe) can't test yet because I'm on meds for a uti which stain the ketostix. Anywayss...don't feel bad...you aren't the only one who has been there. I also have broke the rules at the bar and had vodka tonics even though we aren't supposed to have bubbles. Lemme know if you wanna go out for a drink this summer!!

    Sussex/Passaic County Banders?

MEEEE!!! But you already knew that : )

    Autism and sensory issues

So let your doctor know and ask if you can switch to soft foods and just chew them really well. I went straight from liquids to solids the week later and was just advised to chew well. I never had any issues.
  15. pre-op I wish I didn't allow myself to gain 10 lbs before surgery day. Post-op I wish I had been sticking to my low-carb plan the whole time. I have strayed and did not lose a thing the entire month or March or May. Back on Track now. Time to stick with it!!
  16. Okay so about 1-2x per year since I was 2 years old I get severe migraines to the point where the vertigo is so bad and I can't do anything except for lie in bed and puke for 24+ hours. I get severely dehydrated and usually end up in the ER. I'm wondering if anyone has had headaches like mine and survived with throwing up with the band. I'm going to call my dr but it didn't occur to me until it happened that this vomiting is violent to the point where I will throw up bile if there is nothing left in my stomach. Worried :-/ everything seems to be normal now 3 days later, eating the same and everything. Hydration is my main focus of course right now.
  17. I am sorry but if we accepted being fat then we wouldnt be on here, having surgeries to change it. I am all about self-confidence and I know that I will never ever in my life be what society considers "thin" but I am not going to accept my fate of being fat. I'm going to try like hell to change it. It's okay to accept people of every body type and shape, as we should but I, personally, am not accepting the fat. That goes for me about myself. I am currently seeing someone who weighs 320 lbs and I find every bit of him to be sexy but if he wants to change it, that's his prerogative not mine!
  18. I thought that Sharon Osbourne also had the lap band because there was big controversy over her having it removed.
  19. So I had between 5.5-6 ccs and wasn't totally where I wanted to be and I went in for another fill today. Now I'm between 6.5-7 ccs. Out of a 10 cc band. My dr said I seem pretty tight so make sure I chew everything really really well. Just wondering if anyone out there has finally found their green zone with a higher amount of fluid.
  20. Who has got it? Who doesn't? Is it inevitable? I did not realize before my surgery that it is pretty much inevitable, especially because I am looking to lose a little over 100 lbs. this scares the crap out of me! Especially because of my overnight work schedule it makes it a little more difficult to get my butt to work out than it would for someone who doesn't. I don't want to have cosmetic surgery. I do have age on my side but I already have the body of a 45 year old woman at 23 years old (not joking). I'm going to try to make more of an effort to at least get my booty outside to walk up the hills on my road if I can ever wake up after my shifts! Anyway... Please share how much you have lost and whether or not you have a lot or a little or no loose skin thanks (also I know SOME will happen but I'm hoping it will be an amount I can emotionally deal with). Better than fat in my eyes!

    Cannot find green :( HELP!

Try low carb dieting or at least upping your dense Protein intake. It seems to be the only thing that works for me. My Dr has told me that the band is like a sand timer, whem you put sand in the timer it goes through slowly but if you put pebbles in the timer it will go through much slower. We look at the carbs as the sand and protein as the pebbles. Protein will fill you quicker and keep you fuller longer. I have to stay away from carbs and sugars or I will go on a never ending binge. I carb cycle though (2 weeks low carb then 1 week normal) it seems to be working for me. I am down 46 lbs in 4 months.

  25. I'm sorry to say this but I am on a low carb high fat diet and I don't have cravings. I do treat myself to a sugar free ice pop or candy every once in awhile and I do have weeks where I carb up for the week. Maybe thats why on my low carb weeks my cravings go away pretty much completely idk
