Body by vi is it a fad?

I have a friend doing body by Vi. She has just completed 90 days and lost 64 lbs!! No lie she looks fab! Yes she did have a LOT to lose that's probably why she lost so quickly but maybe it's worth a shot. She never had any WLS. I was just banded and I plan to first do Atkins/low carb as it has worked in the past for me.

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!

I had been craving Italian food yesterday because I have been realizing so many things I can make that would be low carb and Italian just knockin out bread and pasta so I was looking at recipes. I ended up sending hubby out for some tomato basil soup. I sprinkled a tiny bit of Parmesan cheese though and it has been my savior so far! So goood!

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!

I am also wondering if it is normal to be THIS hungry! Or maybe it's not even hunger... Maybe it's just cravings... Things I need to learn!!

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!

So rough but I'd be way to scared to eat something not in the liquid phase. It just sucks opening the fridge to get a jello and seeing bagels rolls and pastries and cheese and deli meats

    Hello everyone!

That was the worst part for me! The first two days were absolute killer! Today it's the head hunger struggle and opening the fridge to grab jello and seeing rolls and bagels and cheese and deli meats! Thank god for tomato soup though!

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

Also, good luck to everyone being banded tomorrow and the rest of this week! If I could do it you could do it! I'm the biggest baby ever lol. Luckily my pre-op nurse was awesome and my OR nurse was great at talking to me to ease my mind and distracted me at all of the craziness going on when we entered the OR. I felt so comfortable!

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

I was banded This past Thursday. First few days was in so much pain from the CO2 they fill you with! Yesterday most of that was gone and I'm just a bit sore still from incisions. I'm getting worried because tomorrow I go back to school an 8hr day and Friday I'm back to work (as a nursing assistant). Also working on getting all of my fluids in because I feel a bit dehydrated this morning! I'm sick of liquids but hubby brought me some progresso tomato soup yesterday and that was to die for since I was craving Italian food haha. The head hunger will be the toughest thing but luckily a lot of great Italian food can be low carb just without the pasta!
  10. I watched my step-mom struggle for years with the band. She only lost 60 lbs (looks great though) and vomits every single time she eats!! She was banded in 08 and hasn't had a fill in years. She also eats whatever she wants even if it's not band friendly. Learning from everyone else in joining this forum and my personal decision to be banded, I am highly relieved that when I am banded on Thursday, this won't be my fate after all! I believe she has some kind of mental illness that causes her to always want to be sick (always having unnecessary surgeries and such) which I'm sure has something to do with it). It's very good to see that not only does vomiting not happen every single time but it should almost NEVER happen!!
  11. Is this acceptable as a liquid? I'm craving something with flavor but not sure because there are those egg chunks that are in it..
  12. I am finally banded and so super excited! I feel like crap though! This gas pain is a real killer and my mouth is so dry and my throat hurts from intubation. Pain killers are a blessing though! I am so excited to start my journey! Right now I'm taking it slow just excited now to go buy some gas x hahaha! This pain isn't unbearable with pain meds and it's so so worth it!

    Finally banded today!

Thanx everyone! Been feeling much better! Still tryin to work out my gas pains though. I am hoping to be back to school by Tuesday and work by Friday. Haven't been hungry and kind of eating at my own pace. I'm on liquids so lots of Popsicles and water and Gatorade broth and pudding! Can't wait to eat normal food again though and really get started! Hoping the dr clears me for puréed or soft foods on Friday
  14. I had my band placed yesterday and the nurses were giving me my pain meds whole. I was told not to crush the percocet. Is this okay? Should I continue this way? It has been ok so far. Also..: every once in awhile I feel a slight gagging (not related to taking the meds) like I am going to burp but it won't come out and my stomach contracts a little but once I sip something I am okay. Anyone know what it could be?
  15. Wendydarling19

IMPORTANT! Can I swollow pain meds whole?

I asked the nurse when they called to check in on me and they said I may crush the meds because this pill was huge and it felt like it was stabbing me in the stomach when I took it. I'm in so much pain. This whole gas thing is a doozy! I hope this pain stops soon! I'm using gas x strips but not helping much and moving around is still very rough.

    Stupid 6 month diet requirement!

All it really is is a requirement from the insurance company...not necessarly the dr. requirements for ANY bariatric surgery covered under my insurance were for 1...Yes only ONE meeting with a NUT, 1 psych eval, and a letter of medical necessity from my PCP. This may have something to do with the fact that I work at the hospital where my surgery will be performed...so it's their insurance. Also, I had NO pre-op diet at all! I am however getting the band not the sleeve! This 6 month diet WILL help you in the long run if you are determined!! Good luck!!

    another 'new' weight loss device

It is already being tested in the US. I saw this back in October when I was researching surgeons. At first I thought it would be great but then I read no not for sustained weight loss! However, what it will be used for is to help people who are too overweight for weight loss surgery to lose their weight safely in order to undergo the surgery that they need. Also, used for people who may only have 20 lbs to lose! Not everyone is a candidate for WLS...some people are still very overweight but don't fit the correct BMI! I had to hit 233 lbs before I was eligible for the band and for insurance to cover it! It does not have to be removed at the end of 3 months. It is what's based on what your dr tells you. Yes, I think it's a little bit stupid but surgery isnt for everyone.

    fill or not

Although I am not banded yet (being banded today at noon), my advice would be to talk to your doctor and see what he says about it. You may just need a small adjustment. If worse comes to worse you can always take out that little bit if it bothers you. Good Luck Terry!

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

Today is the dayyyy!!! 9 hours to go until my appt at the hospital and 11 until actual surgery time! Soooo excited but so scared! AND so hungry!! I made the mistake of not eating before my midnight cutoff
  20. Tomorrow is the day finally!!!! In about 30 hours I will be on the table : ) so...that only gives me a little bit of time to make sure I have EVERYTHING I need. Any suggestions on what else I may need will be greatly appreciated!! Shopping list includes (and will be tweaked) -Gas-X strips -Sugar free popsicles -Beef broth/ chicken broth -More G2 -Cranberry juice -Skim Milk
  21. I am obviously still going to have my surgery regardless. I however was just trying to NOT think about the possible risks and side effects so I don't work myself up before surgery...Grandma just brought the anxiety out in me! I have explained to her that its a tool to help me and she just thinks that I can do it on my own without the band. I explained to her that I would be eating less and of better foods and she says "why don't you just do that and NOT get the surgery?" She is very thin so she does not understand why it is not that easy! Oh well...I can't dwell on it. I know she is just worried as am I so I will just try to get through the rest of today and onto the big day tomorrow at noon!
  22. Ugh! I am so super excited for my surgery Thursday! They even called to tell me my appt was pushed up an hour! This thrills me! My grandmother however is not thrilled at all. She called me to tell me how I don't need it and eat healthy and blah blah blah! I am scared and stressed as it is...as most people who be for their first time surgery! To make matters worse, I have to go spend the evening at my grandma's house because it is snowing and I need to be able to make it into work (she lives 1 block from the hospital in which I work) so I'm going to have to hear it! While I appreciate her opinion, I have no idea how to explain to her that it's not as risky as she thinks. My grandma is a very "green" person and has been this way far before I was born into her life 23 years ago. Idk how to calm her to make her stop pestering me!! I am scared enough as it is from my anxiety!
  23. I keep hearing the same thing! I'm 5'4 and 250. Yes I am a very beautiful girl fat or not but to me it's not that. I am doing it mainly for my health. Disregard what these people are saying and focus on you and if you believe the band is best for you then go for it! There is no shame! I had some b!t@h laugh and say "wow how did your insurance cover cosmetic surgery!" I would have smacked her if I could!!
  24. I am getting the realize band. I am wondering if there is really a huge difference between the two and if the (in my opinion) second-rate band will be just as good as the lap-band. I know they are just brand names however they differ slightly.
  25. I know it's based of many factors but I'm super worried about this. I have 100+ lbs to lose and I'm so scared of the possibility of lose skin! (not enough to scare me away from getting banded though) I mean I'm young so I have that on my side at least but MOST of the women I look at who have lost with a band and I see them and say "wow that's amazing!" have also had cosmetic surgery... I don't really want/ or can afford cosmetic surgery. I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself and that everyone is different but it seems all these women have had it!
