So I bought my first bottle of wine since having the operation last night, planned on a quiet glass by myself after dinner... Turns out it takes WAY less plonk for me to feel tiddly-pop! I was very happy and red faced after half a glass... I think the thing with being banded is common sense. I'm not going to drink the whole bottle of wine and vomit my guts up... I mean, I wouldn't have done that before but there's even more reason not to now. If you think you're the kind of person who can't stop drinking before you pass out on the side of the road then maybe consider giving up for good, but that goes for everyone, not just banded folk.

    350LB + in your 20s - Excess skin?

Have you already had the band put in? Or just checking out your options?

    350LB + in your 20s - Excess skin?

I had a little girl 14 months ago. Before I got pregnant I was always around 190lbs and actually shrunk back to that in the month or two after giving birth. I put on 60lbs didn't get any stretch marks and my tummy returned almost immediately to its pre pregnancy flatness...(well, it was never flat, but you get the idea...). I put on the 160lbs over about a year and still have no stretch marks on my tummy, I do have a few on my arms though. Do you think all this is a good or bad thing for the goal weight skin?

    Before and after photos....

That is how I saw it - I could struggle for another 20 years, or I could take control now. I was ready to give up before I had my daughter, but I started thinking about all the things I couldn't do with her, and all the ways she would miss out if I stayed on the same course. She saved my life!
  5. I was banded 16th Sept, weighing 365LB with my weight sitting mostly on my butt, thighs, titties and arms. I'd be really interested to talk to other "heavy weights" in their 20s who might have some tips so I can get this right from the start. My main concern at the moment is excess skin. My mum was banded 3 years ago and subsequently had a tummy tuck 2 months ago. She had major complications and spent an extra month in hospital - so understandably I would like to avoid having to have anything tucked once I reach my goal. I get that each body is different but surely there must be some things I can start doing now that can help minimise my chances!

I was wondering the same thing! Like you I'm not a heavy drinker, but I still want to be able to get drunk on occasion - I was worried about the amount I would actually be able to drink! I really don't think a bit of pot is going to cause any damage either keeping your gear clean will help with coughing and you could always look into a vaporiser if you want a gentler experience. I'm recently banded and remember having a joint the day I got home from hospital. It took away all the discomfort. Haven't had an issue with munchies either...
