  1. Hello everyone I am only a month shy of 2 years. The journey has been fairly well. No nausea, pains or anything else. My weight loss was steady for 8 months or so, but then it stopped. It just stopped, although I lost on inches but never on the scale since then. I still need to lose 20 lbs. I must say my capacity has also increased as compared to people who have a VSG. Now, I am 4 months pregnant with my second child and am scared. Although, I've gained only 2lbs so far, I don't know what's coming next for me. I am feeling hungry more often now. I don't want to gain much as it will leave my going for the surgery a big failure. My only advise is (which I didn't do) EXERCISE. It will help the stomach to not stretch.

    Post op

Hey It's just normal, the first month passes by in apprehension. Don't worry about stretching up but at the same time stop when u feel its enough. Initially, it's not possible to suffice the required Protein intake, and that's perfectly fine; your kidneys will get some rest. Treat this initial period as a detox diet and you'll not worry anymore. Hope this helps..

    Alcohol

Alcohol is a big NO-NO if you want ur surgery to be a success.. It not only adds calories but will eventually increase the stomach capacity much more than it should go. So be careful, the side effects are what we want to avert and why we chose plication in the first place... I am 14 months out and can say that the possibility of increased capacity in plication is much more than a sleeve. So, the ball is in our and our hands only. We stay careful- we lose; we let ourselves lose- we gain..why would we want something like alcohol to rule our lives, when life can be much better without it..

    Incision sensitivity

Hey cammy That's the incision that takes longest to heal. It comes on the skin fold and yes falls on the bra strip. And the hole factor will go away slowly. But yes it'll leave a big scar:( mine took almost 2 months before I got comfortable with that particular incision.

    New to page

There is no fix rule. I would sip on clear liquids every now and then whenever I felt like. Avoid any liquid either very hot or cold. As for the pain it will go away slowly. Patience dear. Take rest for at least a weak. But move frequently. Good luck...

    Stomach getting larger

It's been a blessed journey so far. I had no issues with nausea, acidity or belching. I lost weight very inconsistently but kept losing. I am still 22lbs. away from my goal. My body has caught up with a tough platue and I am working on it. I think plication or any WLS can contribute only upto a certain point after that its up to us again. Still I am happy. My blood reports have come out normal although I don't take any medications or supplements. Incorporating yoga has truly been life changing as it resulted in building up great stamina. The only problem left is lots of loose skin hanging around.

    Stomach getting larger

I kinda agree with you guys. My capacity as compared to the earlier days post surgery has definitely increased. I can easily get down 8-10 oz. at a time if I eat very slowly. If I eat fast then i can take down only 5-7 pz. I don't know if it's too much or otherwise. Jun 14 will mark my first plication anniversary..;D have lost 48 lbs. and I feel great.

    exercise routines

I walk for 25 mins on my treadmill twice daily. Also I've incorporated "surya namaskar" aka sun salutation, a set if yoga postures that includes core conditioning, body weight exercise and cardiovascular workout( when done in a faster pace). These are my at home routine cause I don't have time to go to the gym.
  10. Hey me too... It was nothing related to this forum. I think it's a hacker..;p I didn't respond...phewww...
  11. Hey! That's ok... I was in extreme pain when I got discharged. I remember I couldn't even move without my eyes going wet due to pain. My upper right incision hurt the most because it fell on my stomach fold and that one took the longest to heal. I slept straight on my back for several nights as sleeping on sides was painful. We must not forget we've had a major surgery and that the incisions go right through our belly walls, which of course is thick enough in our cases. You'll be normal in no time. In take of fluids in such small quantities is ok, make it frequent that's it.. I had coconut water for first 3-4 days because I was so apprehensive. Keep us updated..

    4th Week Stall

@bos123: well counting calories always left me confused and baffled, instead I focus on the proportion of carbs, Proteins and fat in each meal I take. I always try to keep my carb intake less than 70 gms per day( I always prefer whole grains) and my Protein intake around 50-70gms per day. Rest is raw food. The sources of fat for me are fresh whole cow's milk, nuts and two tsp of coconut oil. Another thing I've noticed is constant intake of carbs bring about major platues and we'll need to constantly keep cutting even on whole grains. If there's a stall in your journey try cutting down on carbs and increase the fat intake a bit, focusing on natural fat sources. This works. As for me now, I've been struck with a major platue which might take a while before I can see my scale move. @tc44055: I can easily handle 2 cups at a time now. So, yes two cups each meal, that's it. I use to work out(only walking and sometimes yoga) but since last 3 months haven't been into a routine due to a lot of travelling. That too could be a reason for "the great stall".

    4th Week Stall

I can eat almost two times of what I could eat when I was fresh out of surgery that means almost 2 cups. ya I've made mistakes here and there and I guess that's the reason my capacity increased. this might go further if I take things for granted and this thought keeps me on track. I am planning to go on post-op type puréed diet for a couple of weeks again and hope this might bring about a minor shrink in my stomach. At the end of the day it's still about making the right meal choices...

    4th Week Stall

31lbs and 32lbs is a great number to start off... I hadn't lost even half of it during my first month. Have patience. There were times I thought my weight won't go down any further but it did. Although, my weight loss was inconsistent but was regular. I started off at 215lbs in jun last year and am down at 165lbs now and haven't lost a pound since January. Now, the effort is all up to me. I guess my plication could do only so much for me and I am kinda satisfied.) so far.
