    I GOT A DATE!

@@MBM1Forever, OK, girl. Your surgery countdown tracker got me! 6 more weeks!
  2. I just had an awesome and VERY promising interview for a promotion...same employer...different division. My surgery date is 1/15/2015. When the person giving the interview asked at the end of the interview if there was anything I wanted to tell them, I thought, gulp! should I have mentioned that I have an elective procedure scheduled for January and would need 2 weeks off (all I was planning to take at my current job).???. Should I wait till the offer is made to disclose? Or should I request the FMLA once in the position or should I say I already have a vacation planned at the offer? I've always thought requesting FMLA is best policy but I don't won't to have that chip on my shoulder with a new employer. It may be a moot point but they are making offers today or Monday and I don't know how to proceed. Thoughts? Advice?

    P.S. Those boots! Love.
  4. Wow! Blood pressure meds give right after surgery? That's what I'm talking about! That's inspiring!
  5. I scoured the threads and forms and all I could was a couple of AA VSGer threads.....So, question: Did the RNY resolve your high blood pressure? Completely? Was it the change in diet, less sodium? I've seen the research on the general population on the resolution of hypertension but never broken down by race. So, I'll take the anecdotal evidence gladly because of its predisposition factor with us.
  6. YES! I'm rolling...I'm on my phone and can't see your pic but for Beyonce we might need some airbrushing!!!

I Have No Motivation That Pushes Me

Love the advice given on this thread! My first thought was depression and sometimes it is not a "snap out of it" type of situation. It can require medication and some good old CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). Also, not to make this a class war or anything but I would also find a vet closer to your start weight to get some realistic expectations for what your journey will look like. I always say you cannot put a weight limit on misery. A person with 80 to loose can be as miserable as someone with 200 pounds. Your journey might require more professional help. No shame. No judgement. Do what you gotta to make this work for you! You are already heading in the right direction by asking for help! Keep us posted on your progress.....
  12. Wow...I'm sorry you had to go through that. Sounds awful. I would DEFINITELY get a new doc. Medical doctors who are trained to look at things objectively are still people with prejudices, biased, opinions not always based in fact and still get a lot of power over people in vulnerable situations. He knows that you are dependent on him for treatment and pain relief. A power he should not take advantage of. He is welcome to his own personal opinions but medical evidence may place you as a prime candidate for bariatric surgery. Others in his profession would see things completely differently....Go get your surgery and come back in a year or so and do a pain-free whirl around his waiting room!!!

    OA (overeaters anonymous) anyone ?

I did OA HOW several several years ago. I lost 140#. I've gained back all but 60 of those. I'm thinking OA combined with a surgical tool could be very effective for the truly metabolically challenged. You can message me if you want to chat.
  16. Anyone seen this before? My doctor a naturopath gave me this at our last appointment. It's an amino acid based therapy that is FDA approved so could be covered by insurance. This particular one is indicated for obesity and hypertension and chronic pain. The idea is that people who are in chronic pain like fibromyalgia and arthritis are depleted in the amino acids that trigger feelings of satiety because they are being upregulated for pain relief.....I'm trying it, I feel less hungry, but I'm still having the surgery.... curious if anyone had seen/heard of this before...
