    Here we go again!

Continue to follow what the surgeon and nutritionist gave you as a plan for getting and staying healthier. Do exactly what they say with your protein, water, etc. That's the only way it's going to work for you. Exercise at least four to five times a week. It's very important and change it up to challenge yourself. Take all your vitamins and supplements. It might not be easy at times but it sure is worth it to stay with it. Come often people here are always willing to help if they can.

    Fluid retention postop

The fluid is from the IV. It will leave your body in a week or so. Keep drinking your water and it will help flush your system.
  3. I've used since after surgery Jay Robb Whey Protein Powder. It comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and one other flavor. I get it from Amazon, but it is sold directly from the company and at Whole Foods. I mix it either with Torani sugar fee syrups which I get directly from the company or PB2 peanut butter powder or the PB2 chocolate peanut butter powder. Torani comes in a multitude of flavors. PB2 can be gotten at Target or the grocery store. I find it silly that you must purchase from the surgeons office. I have never heard of that before.
  4. You are doing wonderful.... Congratulations....

    Had surgery june 23

Bloating is normal because of the IV fluids still in your system. Walk as much as you can several times a day it will help with the bloating and gas. If you want you can call the surgeon and ask if you can use Gas X strips to help with the bloating and gas. Congratulations on taking this step towards a healthier you. Feel better.
  6. I use Jay Robb whey protein powder. I've used it since after surgery. I have used the vanilla and the chocolate. It also comes in strawberry and something else. I play around with it using Torani sugar free syrups. I also use PB2 regular peanut butter powder and the peanut butter chocolate powder. Now you can add it to sugar free pudding the protein powder or the PB2. Unjury chicken soup IMO is very good and it packs 20 grams of protein in each serving. I agree to get samples of things one for before surgery and one for afterwards to make sure you still like it. Some peoples tastes change mine didn't. If you like Jay Robb Amazon IMO is the cheapest way to go. Torani sugar free syrups I get directly from the company. PB2 I get at Target or the grocery store. Good luck with your surgery.
  7. Bypass surgery was the greatest gift I gave myself. I once was a size 34/36 and 350 lbs back in 2006. Slowly over a seven year period I lost some of that weight but I still needed to do something or I'm sure I would have gotten back up there again. I had diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol and a few other things that came with being big. I finally made up my mind last year to take care of me. I no longer have those health problems. This surgery helped me be able to move around better even though I have fibromyalgia, osteo arthritis, stenosis of the spine, RSD. I'm still in pain but not as much with less of me. I don't have to use a cane any more to get around and I don't have to use the electric carts in stores any more. So yes I have a better life because of this surgery.

    Dehydration

Call your surgeons office about things running through you and see what they say. You can call your nutritionist and ask if you can start a day early or when you call the surgeon ask then if you want. You'll get better answers.

    Weight loss on pre-op diet

From May to September which is when I had surgery I lost 40 lbs. It was more then I was required to loose. I exercised also.
  10. I use Torani sugar free syrups all the time in my protein shakes. What you make sounds really good.
  11. May I suggest Quest Protein Bars. They have no sugar, high fiber, low fat, low carbs because of so much fiber and they have 20 to 21 grams of protein in them. They taste really good. I don't no what stage you are at but Almonds make an easy thing to carry just get them with no salt or sugar on them. Make yourself a protein shake in a thermos and carry that with you. I also have a card from the surgeon that says I can only have certain foods due dietary problems. Something like that will help you. You could have a grilled chicken breast, small hamburger just have these without the bun and just vegtables. If you need to use a condiment only mustard while you are out. Ketchup to high in sugar. If there is a sit down restaurant try egg white veggie omelette made in cooking spray or the above things I suggested. Have a turkey sandwich with out the bread and have vegtables. Just a few ideas. Have fun with your family.

    how much does hair weigh?

I been taking biotin since I could start vitamins after surgery and I lose hair but not as much as if I didn't take it. Plus it helps with nails too.

    Allergy Medicine

Well I don't know about Claritin but I have used Benadryl with no problem. I would ask your surgeon or the pharmacist at your pharmacy. Feel better.
  15. Look at The World According to Eggface it a website for WLS patients who want to eat good tasting foods with all kinds of recipes. There are many cookbooks that are for WLS patients on Amazon. If I were you I would try some out before surgery and see how they are. Now to your list I would say no for at least six months after surgery and then be careful. You are going to have a hard time eating any more then a few bites of things with out causing discomfort. I know this even though I had bypass I know many people that had the sleeve and they all same the same thing. Those foods have attendance to be high in carbs and sugar. Be very careful. I would say the only thing on your list that would be okay with saltines is peanut butter and that I would buy without sugar in it or make your own with dry roasted nuts. All natural almond butter is very good too. If you do eat a slice of bread it must be toasted or will be to hard to digest. Now this is just advice and you really need to talk all this over with your nutritionist if you want to be successful. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.

    Airline Weight Limits?

I was very big in 2005 and had to purchase two seats because I would not fit into one. Unfortunately I'm would say for your boyfriend at his size would be more comfortable having the two seats. Now if I were you I would check with them and see what their rules are about this and use that information in determining which airline you go with. With that said have a nice time together.
  17. My surgeon and nutritionist have me take children's Flinestones complete chewable vitamins. I take two with a meal. They have iron in them that is easier to digest. I buy them at Costco because that's the best deal but you can find them at Target, Walmart or any pharmacy. Also Celebrate Vitamins has chewable multi vitamin, they also have calcium citrate chewables and soft chews (I use these). They have B12 that I use. These are just suggestions.
  18. I have Quest Protein Bars or sugar free Popsicles. The Quest have 20 or 21 grams of protein in them and they are made with Stevia. I buy the sugar free Bomb Pop Popsicles. Sometimes I might have some almonds.
  19. You have to go through a period of supervised reducing your weight before surgery. This is to shrink the liver. You probably will have to have a sleep study. You probably will have a stress test. You might have to have a scope of your throat and stomach. These are just some of the things your insurance and your surgeon will require. What surgery are you having? These are things you and the surgeon and nutritionist should have discussed. Good luck with your future surgery.

    Disappointed

That's ridiculous that they are playing around with this. If it was me I would check with them often to find out if they did it or not. I might even talk to the office manager or the physicians assistant and ask why there is a delay in them submitting the paperwork. You tell them that you were promised a speedy submission of it and now you're being told that it will be sometime this month and that that's unacceptable. You were also told that surgery would be next month and now they don't know when. I'm sorry you might have already done all of this and I'm preaching to you. I just dislike hearing of people being mistreated. Good luck and best wishes.
  21. I'm in shock. I just put on a pair of size 10 Old Navy jeans and they fit. These were my work into size and now I'll have to return them for size 8. LOL
