  1. You will have some similar protocols as I have seen in many posts. Check with your surgeon or the dietitian associated with your surgical team. Your surgeon can only suggest what you can eat. You have to be diligent. Your surgeon cannot be with you 24/7 but you should have access to him or one representative on call. You may want to have something but just because you can don't. I am five and a half years out. Some things that I have done besides many trips with my grandchildren are trips to foreign countries. I was away for five weeks in 2010. Good luck next Friday.

    What ya eating tonight?

    When I know that I have something to eat that is simply soft and will probably eat too fast, I get up from the table and do make work. Like get containers to put remainder of dinner in for my husband's lunch. I slow myself down and his lunch is ready.

    I cooked steak in crockpot five hours on high with onions celery carrots in a beef broth. In the last half hour I added roasted red peppers for added flavor and garlic. The steak was tender. My husband loved it. High protein and low carbs

    It's finally here surgery day

    Good luck. I had my surgery five years ago January third. I was sixty.
