Exhausted!
I know I am only 1 week out, but I am so tired! And with eating 600-800 calories a day from now on, how does ANYONE ever have any energy to do anything????

August 2013 surgeries
I have no problems getting down liquid - like there is no restriction, so I don't understand when folks say they can't get the protein shakes or water down (besides being nasty).....I hope he did the surgery right!!!!???

Anyone else newly post- op feel down in the dumps?
I am 1 week post op and don't know what to do with myself. I am depressed I guess - liquids suck-, but also my whole routine is changing....so much of my life revolved around food. Stopping at chick fil a every morning for a biscuit and coke is what I did. Today I stopped by for a water. Seriously. I couldn't pass up the drive thru and had to get a water! My tummy is not hungry - not at all, but my head , my head will play games with me all day long making me think I need this or that. I have to be stronger than those thoughts!

Ideas for mushy stage
Tomorrow I get to start scrambled eggs and mushies - I am so excited! Any ideas of what to do - I really want to get some good Protein in, so I can cut the shakes down to once per day. I have some chicken and bean burritos - can I scoop out the filling, blend and eat 1/4c of that? What about spice at 1 week out? Olive oil?

Anyone else counting down the days until food again?
Omg this is so how I feel! My surgery was 8/19. Tomorrow I can have scrambled eggs!!!! I am so tired of all this sweet stuff - jello, pudding, Popsicles, shakes - all disgustingly sweet! Hang in there!

5 days post-op from band to rny
I am doing pretty good now with the exception of this awful cold I have now. I have to admit that the first 3 days were not as much of a cakewalk as the band surgery.....everyone is different! Now I am sick to death of the Protein shakes and any other fake sweet liquids like Jello, Popsicles, pudding. I cannot wait to add eggs and purées in a few days. Any suggestions on the purée of meat? Does it have to be liquified or just cut up super tiny like in a chicken salad? I don't feel any restriction with the fluids - I cheated tonight and ate a slice of Kraft singles and felt nothing (but happy to chew).....how will I know I am full? My nut. Says to aim for 1/4c per meal - that is 2 oz. is everyone actually measuring this, or listening to your body? Already experiencing head hunger....my tummy has not been hungry once in 7 days, but I dream about and actually salivate when thinking of food! This will be hard I think!!!!

Surgery 8/19 - Can I really Succeed?
I am having a band to bypass revision on Monday and I am so worried that I will fail yet again! I have been eating horribly (don't have to do a pre-op diet) - my liver is probably getting fattier by the minute! What if I can't do this - I mean lose weight? What if this doesn't work for me? What if I can't change my lifestyle? I want to be healthy and fit, but food is/has been so important in my life. I am just plain scared.....Am I gonna go postal when I can't eat an oreo? Will I be happy eating 5 bites of Thanksgiving dinner? I am going with it, and hoping that in time, with every pound I lose, this new lifestyle will develop and I will gain a healthy relationship with food......Is that possible?

Revision on 8/19 - Cold Feet!
Whoops - pushed post by accident......Anyway, I am eating so much crap right now since I won't be able to eat this crap ever again......Or, I should say, I am hoping I will not be able to eat this crap again, and I am hoping I have the willpower to change my eating habits for good! If I had changed my eating habits before, with the band, I wouldn't be in this situation! I certainly don't want to end up losing 100 lb just to gain back 125 in 5 years. I am so afraid I can't do this, but I am trying to appear calm and nonchalant to my husband, so he doesn't tell me I should cancel surgery! Any words of wisdom??

Revision on 8/19 - Cold Feet!
I am having my revision in 3 days......I am getting really nervous......Not about the surgery so much, but how I am going to feel emotionally when I lose my "best friend". I have been eating everything in sight
-
Stressed!
I sooooo feel the same way! I am having a revision from Lapband to bypass on 8/19, and I feel like I am eating everything in sight because I won't be able to have it afterward. I am very nervous too that maybe I am not ready for this lifestyle change. I have actually gained 2 lb in the last month! Not Good! I just keep telling myself that come Monday I will have to comply....I won't have a choice not to.......

Surgery in 4 days and I am in a funk
I can totally relate! Kudos to you for having such a successful pre-op liquid diet this far.....I kinda wish my dr. Makes his patients do a liquid diet, but he doesn't. I am considering doing one for a week on my own to get kick started, but my 2 year old says to keep eating up until the last bell tolls at midnight 8/19! Best of luck on wed. - I am looking forward to hearing how you are doing!

Recovery from band vs. bypass
I am getting closer to my revision date of 8/19! I am excited and nervous.....how much harder/longer was your recovery from bypass vs. the band? I think with my band I was back to work after about 4 days....I am guessing there will be a lot of muscle soreness at the site of the port removal....I was banded in 2005, so there will be a lot of scar tissue.....

Krispy Kreme
So my band to bypass revision is 8/19. I joined WW 2 weeks ago to kick start my weight loss, and as a structure for changing my eating habits, but in the last two weeks I have eaten so much crap - stuff I will never get to have again - including 8 doughnuts today! I am so afraid this means I will be a failure! I can't spend $21k and go thru this surgery to fail yet again, but why can't I get it together????
-
Afraid to Fail... AGAIN
I totally feel the same way! I am having a revision from a band, but unlike you, I gained all my 60 lb back that I lost. My willpower is nil, so I hope someone can give us some encouragement - when is your surgery? Mine is the 19th.

Dumping with fat
Do you dump when you eat high fat food like cheese? Butter?

New and 8 days from surgery
I hear ya! I am so afraid this won't work, or, if it does, I will gain it all back! Lets face it, if we had good eating habits, and were willing to change our lifestyle for goos, then we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with! I am a band to bypass revision and my surgery is the 19th. I lost 60 lb with my lapband prior to getting pregnant. I have since had two beautiful boys, and gained all that weight plus some back. I don't have to do a pre-op diet, so I find myself going back and forth in my head "go ahead and eat ice cream, a Big Mac, pizza - you will not have those things ever again", and "eat healthy now, practice the new rules you will have to follow, lose a few pounds before surgery." However, the former usually wins out, and I will probably end up gaining 5 more pounds!! I don't have any words of wisdom, but at least you know you are not alone!!

August 2013 surgeries
I don't have to do a liquid pre-op either!

Are you REALLY full?
Is it a full stomach feeling, or up high like you have heartburn? I have a band now, so I know that full pouch feeling, but my stomach down below can still be growling and hungry....I pray it feels like thanksgiving every day otherwise I may fail!

August 2013 surgeries
Is everyone eating healthy before surgery (or before you have to start liquids)? I am having a hard time making good decisions - pizza and ice cream tonight.....having some food funerals which is terrible! I am afraid I will not be able to change after surgery and will be fat forever and a disappointment to myself once again!!!!! Help!!
-
August 2013 surgeries
We are bypass buddies! I am having a band to bypass revision on the 19th! Do you have to do a liquid diet beforehand?
-
Food funeral
I am fighting the urge to start eating all the things I will never have again.....Krispy Kreme donuts come to mind!!! So afraid of living without sugar, but know that is best!
-
Why do revisions lose slower?
I have read several comments that revision patients don't lose as fast as "virgins". Why is that? I am back at my pre and starting weight, so it's not like I only have a little to lose.....
-
Band to bypass scheduled!
16k is awesome! I am in Atlanta and it will be nearly 22k for the removal of the band and revision (all one surgery) including 2 nights in the hospital.
