why do i keep eating!?
I hear ya - I am two months out, and have also found out that sweets don't really bother me much, but I am doing pretty good staying away. If I need a sweet fix I get a Chobani flip that has dark choch. Or candied pecans. The protein is good, and the sugar is like 18. As for exercise - if you can take a walk on your breaks at work - or walk the stairs, even if it is only 15 minutes, its better than nothing. it will also make you feel good about yourself that you are accomplishing some exercise everyday. that is what i do - i have a 1 & 4 year old, so i understand being tired at the end of the day, and there is no way i can get up earlier to workout before the kids get up! This surgery is definitely not a silver bullet - we must change our relationship with food if we are to succeed! I want to friend ya'll on MFP - I don't have any......

What are the "foamies"?
I am sure this is a stupid question, but I have seen this term mentioned several times within a list of negative side effects, and I am clueless.....when I have a BM/diarrhea while dumping it is kind of oddly foamy......is this it? Sorry for TMI!!

Blueberry Muffin - Minimal Dumping
Okay, so I know it was not a wise, or healthy choice, but I just really wanted some carbs/sugar this morning. I ate the muffin from Dunkin Donuts - I think it had over 40grams of sugar in it.....I did have diarrhea twice within a few hours of eating it, but no other symptoms....is this dumping? I am bummed that I don't have really bad dumping with cramps, sweats, shakes etc....the awful thing is now I know I can eat sugar in moderation with little ill effects, so I will have to go back to "white knuckling it"....I really did myself a major dis-service today!!!

B12 Injections
I had my initial injection at the hospital, but it is time for another one. I am seeing my PCP tomorrow, but I don't know what the dose is. Can someone fill me in?

Insurance declined. Must self pay - who else has?
I have lost 21 so far....a little slower than I was hoping, but it is going in the right direction!

Insurance declined. Must self pay - who else has?
I was self pay to the tune of 22k also. I am now almost 5 weeks out. I do not have regrets per se, but I am putting a lot of pressure on myself because we did pay so much. I am terrified I won't lose it, and will be out such a huge chunk of money! Good luck with your decision!

Fast Food
So when you have to do fast food what choices do you make? I decided on subway turkey on wheat today. I only ate a quarter of the bread along with the turkey and veggies. Boring....

newbie here.
I agree with soccermama - life without the band is soooo much better. I am only 3.5 weeks out, but so far I am very happy I made the decision to revise to rny - good luck!

Putting so Much Pressure on Myself
Dave.....what can I say, but thank you so very much for taking the time to reply to my "freak out"! I will be re- reading your words of wisdom daily. Thank you!

Putting so Much Pressure on Myself
I am about 3.5 weeks out from revision of band to bypass. I feel like food, thoughts of food, exercise, MFP, Fitbit are consuming every waking moment. I just can't relax and enjoy the journey. I was self pay, so that is part of it....I am just so afraid that I won't lose this weight. I have "tested" myself in the last week with fat and sugar to see "what would happen". I think my dumping is more of a general feeling like crap, headache, cramps, super tired. I ate a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup yesterday and today I gained 1.5 lb. I am going to Overeaters Anonymous trying to get my addiction in check. I am just practically paralyzed with fear that I won't lose 100 lb in a year. I have no patience at all. I need a major reality check!

What Did I Do? Dumping On Fat?
Thanks everyone! Matter spending some time in the bathroom last night I felt a lot better this morning. Taking it slow and easy today with lots of good protein!

What Did I Do? Dumping On Fat?
Oh lord, I really screwed up tonight, and feel like the "old" me and I am so pissed at myself. In laws in town, out to dinner, ate too much.... 2 shrimp with garlic butter/Parmesan cheese, tomato with blue cheese crumbles, and a few bites of mashed potato with cheese.....I feel HORRIBLE - physically and emotionally! I threw up and it was basically oily yuck - no food! My belly hurts down low, like under my belly button....how long will this last? I never want to eat again!!!! I hate myself right now!!!! Is this fat dumping???

How did you feel 10 weeks after surgery?
Today is 2 weeks out for me and I am feeling almost back to 100%!

Stall? Already?
I am two weeks post op today. I have lost a total of 14 lb, but that was as of last wed., so I have stayed the same for 5 days! How is this possible when I am eating well under 1000 calories a day. I am getting right around 60 g of protein per day. I have not been exercising yet though.....is this what a stall is?? I am just so impatient, and now I think I am never gonna get 100+ lb off!
-
Malabsorption
What % of the macronutrients is not absorbed from the beginning if it ends up being 10% after 12-18 months?? I am 2 weeks out and trying to keep my calories to 800.....how much of that is absorbed?

Puree Ideas Please!
I cooked up an oz of chicken and added some buffalo sauce to it, put it in my chopper and added some ff blue cheese dressing to the top - yummy, low cal, good protein!

August Post Ops
I had a band to bypass revision on 8/19. Doing pretty good - especially now that I am out of the liquid stage - I was so ready for something not sweet! I had a bit of a binge last night that I posted about, but I am back on track. Still sore and very tired, so I don't feel like doing much. My post op appt. is Tuesday. I am down 14 lb, so I am happy with that. Just still so so afraid this won't work for me and I will be fat forever. How many calories is everyone getting? My nut. Said 600-800 , but that seems kinda low to me.....I have been able to stick around 800-900 fairly well and get all my liquids and at least 55 grams of protein. That is with still doing a protein shake for breakfast though.....I really don't mind the unjury brand I am using, and now I can purée fruit into it. When I make it with skim milk it is 29 grams of protein!

Reassurance needed!
Thank you all for your support! I am back on track today, and planning to discuss my behavior in therapy. I want more than anything to change my eating habits and learn to live in a normal size body and eat healthy food - to fuel my body, not my darn brain. My inner 2 year old was throwing a tantrum and I let her have her way - not again!!!
-
Reassurance needed!
I am 12 days post op, and have followed the rules fairly well up until tonight. I don't know what got into me, but the old me was like, "lets see if you really feel full" because I have a fear my pouch is large due to band bypass conversion...I ate about 1/2 c of Kraft Mac n cheese followed by 5 Pringles, a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese and 3 chessman cookies and milk! Wtf was I thinking.....a no traditional binge, but a binge none the less. I did feel full, and cramps, but no puking or diarrhea. Now I am so afraid I am going to screw this up to and not lose the weight....please just tell me all hope is not lost?!
-
post op liquid diet
I was officially allowed soft foods 1 week out, but I did have incredible cravings for American cheese, so I had some at about 5 days out.....nothing has gone wrong that I know of......
-
Calorie range
What calories is everyone trying to stick to? My nut. Says 600-800.........

1 week post op eating
At the one week mark I was able to graduate to purées/mushy. This is what I ate today: scrambled egg with a little cheese, protein shake with frozen peaches blended in, 1oz deli turkey with 1 oz deli Swiss and 1/2 oz avocado blended to purée - looked gross, but tasted divine! Snack of 1T peanut butter off the spoon!
-
Post op vitamins
Is there any way to get around doing chewables of the multis? They seriously male me gag - is there a swallow able multivitamin that can be taken specific to bypass patients?
-
Anyone else newly post- op feel down in the dumps?
Thanks so much - that really helps, and since I have a 2 year old, I can really relate!!!!
