I was always slender - through my 20s, 30s, 40s, and early 50s. I don't think I went any higher than 135. I quit smoking at age 50. The following year 5 family members died, including 2 of my 4 legged babies (all rescues). My husband had heart issues and was hospitalized, I had emergency appendectomy surgery, broke my foot just to name a few. I ate. I had a very stressful job and the hormone cortisol also kicked in., I was going to school full time for my Doctorate, running a business, working full time to pay for the Doctorate because I did not want school loan bills after I was awarded my Doctorate, had the house, 3 more dogs and the list goes on. I also was teaching at University of Missouri. I had done well to loose about 50 pounds but then my thyroid quit working and a whole 'nutha set of issues showed up and I could not lose any more weight. I tried for 2 more years and when 2012 rolled around I said that was enough. I started researching, started going to free seminars are the bariatric center and began the journey in April of 2012. In December I had my surgery. I am 6 months post-op and feel better than I have in years. I feel like I am in my 30s again.
