Competition Amongst Women
I suffered from really severe postpartum depression with my last child . I was hospitalized and had to go on meds. I have a militant breastfeeding friend who told me I was "being selfish and was sacrificing my child's health for my own selfish needs. "This is a quote! It ruined our friendship. Oh, and my bottle fed son? He's 6'5" and highly gifted. Good thing he wasn't breastfed....he' d be a giant...lol

Baked oatmeal
I make this a lot now that it's cold. It warms my son up before he braves the cold , and it really fills me up...a little goes a long way:)

Surgery 12/3
I used eas advantage, because I could have more shakes throughout the day. I also broke up the constant sweet flavor with occasional glasses if V8... Of course it all depends on what your preop diet allows... I know you're struggling, but it's only a few more days...you got this! It will be worth it.

November 2013 Post Op
I needed stronger pain meds my first four days....and then after a week, I was able to use normal pain meds....it does get better. It's a very personal thing: some are back to work after a week, some take longer to heal. Keep moving your shoulders and walking. You'll feel like yourself before you know ut.

Family
My husbands family is so overweight, but they all comment in my weight, up or down. My mother in law used to work for weight watchers ( oh the irony), and is now about 100 lbs overweight....she keeps asking me for my diet secrets. They don't know about my surgery; they've made their thoughts on that well known. The weird thing us, they comment about weight in a very shaming way, but they also make a ridiculous amount of unhealthy food, and then comment as everyone eats it. It's like a family if alcoholics having an open bar. Very weird and dysfunctional.

What ya eating tonight?
I can't eat reheated meats....I often freeze uncooked meals as I cook, so meals are ready to cook. I can then pop things in the oven or micro to cook quickly. It helps with some meals. I also have a mini crockpot to make myself mini stews, etc. It would be nice to be able to eat leftovers for lunch.... I get sick of my usual cheese and nuts.

I made the mistake if eating while I carved....didn't chew well enough, and was sick to my stomach at dinner. Refunded later ( sorry, tmi). Had a miniscule bite if apple crumb pie later...new recipe, hadn't tried it. I was shocked how quickly it triggered cravings. No more for me!

Advice For A Youngin
It's such a personal decision. I had surgery for health reasons after trying every diet plan known to man. You really have to ask yourself if you're ready to commit to life long behavioral changes. The surgery is only the beginning.

I sure hope it's just part if healing, but it would be nice to hear for sure, wouldn't it? I'd call again before the end if the day; the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Did he venture a guess in Tuesday, or did they do more tests? As far as my brain goes....the best doctors are in Pittsburgh. .. Not happening. Going to talk to the surgeon at the Medical College, and then maybe go to Mayo...I'll see how many surgeries this dr has done, etc. The condition is very very rare; I'm lucky they figured it out as quickly as they did. By the way, I just wanted to say how thankful I am that all of you came into my life. You guys rock, and I'm very grateful for all of you. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
