  1. Fish chowder:

    1/4 medium onion chopped

    1 1/2 tbsp of butter

2 small red potatoes cut into chunks

1/2lb of cod' date='haddock, scrod (any white fish will work)

    Salt/pepper

    1 tbsp of Thyme

    Bay leaf

    1 5oz can of 2% evaporated milk

1 1/2 cups of milk (I use 1% but skim works too)

1 8oz bottle of clam juice

Sweat onions in butter until translucent. Add potatoes and clam juice. Add Water if needed until potatoes are covered. Add thyme, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Let summer covered for about 10min. Lay fish on top and cover again. Cook for another 10min. Add evaporated milk and regular milk and simmer for about another 5-10 min. Stir gently so you don't break the fish up too much. Season with salt/pepper to taste. Enjoy!!

I have to mention this is always better the next day. And I get about 4-5 my size servings out if it. If your cooking it for your family I would maybe double the recipe except for the clam juice.

    Thank you!

  2. A lot of people get a Dilaudid pain pump. If your pain isn't controlled make sure you let your nurses know. They are there for that. I also had a "medicine ball" which was a catheter of lidocaine placed underneath the top layer of my skin in my stomach and I carried the bottle around. There are many ways to manage your pain along with the narcotics. Try not to worry too much about that part. Good luck!

  3. As of today' date=' cooler weather is moving through my area (YAY!!!!) and I have this master plan to use my crockpot more this fall and winter. Monday we are starting off with taco Soup in the crockpot but I'm looking for other tasty, reasonably healthy recipes I can throw together before work and leave unattended all day.

    Any suggestions?

I looooove my crock pot. I make so Much in it! chicken and dumplings, chicken and noodles, chili, lasagne, BBQ ribs, pot roast, beef stew, white chicken chili, lentil stew,

I've even cooked a whole chicken in it. I realize some of this is not WLS friendly but at 4 months P/O I enjoy cooking for my family and then making something for myself later.

  4. how far post op are you...my nut said no salad for 6 months' date=' well i felt ready and ive had it twice this week with no problems...just wondering if anyone else had salad this early..im 9 weeks post op...ty[/quote']

I'm 4 months post-op. Neither my old surgeon or my new surgeon gave me a definite time to try salad. I just took a chance and try to keep my Veggies soft as possible. I like baby spinach with chopped tomatoes, kalamata olives, cheese and light dressing. (If I'm feeling brave ill throw on a couple banana peppers)

  5. I've been Doig ok this week and decided to try salad. I used baby spinach per someone's recommendation on here. Very soft' date=' went down well. I've added tomatoes, olives, artichokes, cheese and FF ranch ( not all at once) seem to be doing on with this! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> now I'm Gona try to add I. 7. Struggling tonight... I've been dealing with exhaustion (and I KNOW its because I've been lacking in protein)' date=' well.. Needless to say, I gained 5 lbs!! Ugh. So discouraging. So today I got back on the wagon and have had 93 grams of Protein today and did a "Couch to 5k" work out.[/quote']

I know the feeling! Chin up darling!

  8. So far I've had an ok week. (I hope I don't regret saying that!) I'm looking forward to starting my new job in pediatric orthopedics on Monday and moving in the next week or two. Hope things keep moving forward. Both Bari doc and uro said to wait everything out, they think I'm on the up and up! Needing some prayers just in case!

  9. Ok so in 4 days I will be 4 months out. I'm 66lbs down. Went from 211 to 145. I have been having kidney stones and colic so they told me to switch from whey Protein. Not easy. I wasn't good about shakes before. Lately I've been eating a lot of steamed edamame which are high in soy protein so that's nice. I've had 3 esophageal dilations for a stricture and I finally meet with my urologist today. Wish me luck! Kidney stones are a you-know-what!

  10. FYI' date=' if ya wanna know, There actually is a tablet form of toradol (ketorolac) it's not something we prescribe often and typically only for 2-3 days at a time....because it causes ulcers and GI bleeds (surprise!!!). Also there's now a form of IV Tylenol (acetaminophen) I think the brand name is Ofirmev. It's really gaining in popularity because it isn't an NSAID or a narcotic but has decent pain control. Tylenol arthritis is not an NSAID either, it's just a different strength of acetaminophen.[/quote']

Good to know! Thank you for your advanced knowledge!

  11. I honestly still can't see any difference. In down nearly 80lbs now since surgery. The dark hair is before surgery and the blond hair was yesterday.

What do y'all think? Please be honest...saying I look the same WON'T hurt my feelings.

Preop weight 389 current weight 314...that's 75 lbs lost since RNY 6/11/13

I can tell a difference. It's a bad angle for us to answer that question tho!!! Doesn't show much!
