I went to a support group meeting tonight and they had Protein tastings. Isopure is NASTY! I found a few I think are tolerable. Any favorite suggestions out there?

Im a nurse and work for a GI practice. Uou can safely take Miralax up to 4 times a day if need be. I did not have any issues immediately following surgery and an impaction snuck up on me. I was taking colace 3 times a day. I had to manually disimpact my self use an enema after that and took Miralax 4 times a day for 2 days to get cleaned out. Now as maintenance I take it twice a day to stay regular.

1 head of broccoli, florets trimmed and stalk peeled and chopped
    3 slices turkey bacon
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 tsp dried tarragon
6 cups low sodium fat free chicken broth
1 cup fat free half n half
1 Tb cornstarch made into a slurry with 1 Tb Water
    6 oz shredded chicken
4 oz low fat sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Cook bacon in pan coated with cooking spray. Remove when crisp. Add onions and broccoli stems. Cook over medium heat until onions are translucent. Add garlic and tarragon, cook one minute. Add chicken broth. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer for 15 minutes. (At this point I purée the Soup because my daughter won't eat the broccoli stems, but you don't have to.). Add half n half and cornstarch slurry. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce to simmer and add chicken and broccoli florets. Cook 10-12 minutes until florets are tender and Soup has thickened. Add cheese and reserved bacon. It's so good. I attached the mfp stats.

If I didn't start each day with 1/2 a shake and finish it in the afternoon there is no way I would come close to getting my Protein in. I'm staying clear of starch and carbs because that is how I wound up being big in the first place. I like the boca burgers with 15g of Protein or the morning star sausage has 10g. They are meatless, but I like them.

Just thought I tell you more I had a blood clot in my LAD in 2000 they sucked it out and put in 2 stents I also had mild heart attack I have not had any problems since with my heart at that time I weighed 222 sounds good weight but that was kilos so its 488 well after I did Medfast and lost down to 250 keep most off but since 2005 I've went back to 398 Nov 2011 got insurance and went to dr to get help he did a lot of blood work especially on Thyroid and get my dosage up and put me on Metform cause my body didn't use insulin efferencently and in 10 months dropped to 369 and the pa is was seeing left so I decide to seek out on my own My Lymphedema the therapist had told my she was starting to work with a Bariatric dr a while back so called and asked who made my appointment but had to do simanars first I did and made my appointment I had already talked to my cardiac dr about this he is who I trust for guidance and he told me to do it he said talk to Bariatric dr and see what he suggested but he thought RYN cause of history so Feb 14 I did it everything with surgery went great no neausea little pain but the next day had some trouble went into A-fib el-regular heart beat So a few extra days but one morning my cardiac dr come and I guess knew I was feeling down as he was leaving my room he stopped turned around shone his finger at me and said I know what your think and to stop he said this was the best thing I had done for myself even with these problems and not to worry it was probley just stress from the surgery that caused it from worry or just being scared . There are more risk just getting in your car and driving I think the odds were 1000-1 so you need to be there for your kids and to be healthy so many do this and get rid of high blood pressure diabetes and many other problems and its much better then the other chance you leaving if you stay as you are So put it in GODS hands and he will lead your Dr down the healthy path for you and your family

So, I've been trying to decide what to do to "reward" myself. I told my husband I would like to get a charm Bracelet. Well he went out and bought me one for my birthday. Now every 25lbs I loose, I get a charm! I love it and I love rewarding myself with something other than food!
How do you reward your success?

Hi, I am in Raleigh. I had my surgery on saturday, 4/13, so I'm home resting, or trying to! Its hard to be still when you are so used to doing several things in order to avoid being social. I had the best experience, my doctor is Dr. Bruce, with Bariatrics of NC, and I was at Rex Hospital. I haven't had too much pain, and now that I'm moving around, the gas is finally appearing. I'm glad I'm home! Follow the doctor's orders, I did to the tee, and I found it to be very helpful. The surgery was less than 2 hours, my family said, and the doctor updated them when I was finished. In Cary, there is a nutrition center on the bottom floor of my doctor's office and I picked up all my meals for week 1 and 2 post surgery, so I am set! Good luck! Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing or feeling.

I'm in Charlotte, surgery was in Rock Hill SC on 11/27/12. I've lost 76 lbs & go for my bloodwork tomorrow. Kind of anxious to see if I have any Vitamin deficiencies. Best advice I can give is to plan your food & always have a backup plan & something good in Protein in your purse or backpack. I use My Fitness Pal to track protein, etc. I miss a good hot dog but it's worth how I feel now to give them up (the pouch hates them). Glad to see so many Carolina gals on here.

They can take time if it is big and slowly moving around. Plus all the Calcium you have been taking. Most docs can do a urine test some will do an x-ray or CT Urogram. depending on their capabilities. Most people can pass them if under 7mm with mild to moderate pain. But above that its should probably be lithotripsied.

Awesome! It is great to have some local peeps to chat with. Winston is not too far from here .W106fox, thats great, how long ago was your surgery and do you have any personal pointers for us newbies? Kwagner01, I went to college at UNC-W in mid 90's and as a child spent every summer in Emerald Ilse We are huge beach goers, but now we mostly go up to Corolla and Carova.I am looking forward to being not only healthy enough to fully enjoying the beach again but also not being the largest woman on the beach. I always said it didn't bother me but being honest with myself it really did.
