    My changing body

It feels like my body is starting to "settle". I don't know if anyone else has experienced this feeling or if it's just me. Don't know quite how to explain it. My clothes are not fitting right - almost everything is too big. It's a weird feeling to have underwear that's too big. If I wear it to bed it slides off when I move. TMI, I know but it's just weird. Believe me I'm not complaining I just don't want to spend a ton of money on "in between" clothes. My massage therapist says working on me is like working "on a completely different body". That's awesome to hear. I've created a huge bag full of clothes that I can no longer pull off as presentable. They are just too large. That's so nice to say! I'm looking into joining a gym now to start to tone since I'm getting some definition in my arms & legs now. Yep, even starting to get a figure! Although at my 3 month post-op I was only awarded a C- by my surgeon because I'm not drinking enough according to him. Well, it's really tough to get down 80 ounces while not drink during or 1 hour after meals! I'm trying, I swear! Keeping track of food & liquid like this is almost a full time job! 53 pounds down - 73 to go... GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

    SURGERY IN 3 HRS...

If you're anything like me the day of surgery will be a complete blur. I was zonked out - I haven't slept that well since before my children were born! General anesthesia was a doozy. I remember they tried to make me walk & I could barely stay awake. Gotta say that nurse was not on my good side....
  4. Congrats on an amazing gift you have given yourself!!!

    No turkey No chicken

I have the same problem with hard boiled eggs if there's not enough mayo. It's just too dry & gets stuck - it's a horrible feeling...

    50 pounds!

I'm so excited to be down 50 pounds!! I can see and feel a big difference in my clothes - I'm amazed how baggy my clothes are on me. I would love to buy new ones but financially it doesn't make a lot of sense. I've bought some here & there as I've needed them. Like this new dress in my picture. I had a cocktail party for my company sales meeting & yes, I bought it in the regular size section! Who was happier than me in that dressing room? No one!!
  7. My nutritionist & doctor said no soda or anything with bubbles ever again. That's okay with me since I don't like soda.
  8. I lied because I knew I wouldn't be allowed the time off. But that's only because my office completely doesn't care about their employees. I'm not there anymore by the way! I've told everyone at my new job and people are incredibly supportive.

    What comes next?

It varies greatly! I had my first seminar with my surgeon in February & had my surgery in April! When I received approval the surgeon was ready to do surgery sooner than I was ready to have it done. Everyone's experience is different.

    April 2013 Post-Op Group

So happy with my progress! It seems that a lot of people are losing weight faster than I am but I'm happy with it. I've lost 46 pounds since 4/15/13. I had to buy some new clothes because the old ones just look way too big. I even bought a cocktail dress for a party next week and I bought it in...wait for it...the REGULAR SIZE SECTION OF THE STORE!!! Who was a happy girl when that zipper went all the way up? ME ME ME!!!

I'm such an 80s rock girl! I wish I could join you! Who's the front man for Warrant now that Jani Lane died? Have a blast!

    Unjury products

I only use unjury & I buy it off their website, too. I love the strawberry in lemonade, too but I also add that one right to water. The Chocolate Splendor is great with skim milk. I'm not a fan of their vanilla as it is pretty bland. They have a chicken soup one that I haven't tried. Their shipping is pretty fast. Good luck!
  13. You will be just fine. The surgeons all have different diets. Mine did not allow any solid food except a small salad once a day. I would have killed for a frozen dinner! LOL. I didn't stick to the diet completely either. I have heard a lot of people that slip up. Just shake it off & do the best you can! Good luck
  14. Boy that sucks! The one place you don't want to shrink! Mine seem to be sagging - just as depressing. I don't think there's anything you can do to stop loosing boob volume. That happened to a friend of my mom's too when she lost a lot of weight. Maybe we can get a 2 for 1 boob job together? Lol

    just a few questions

I feel real hunger too. I mean when your tummy growls it's real hunger. My dr told me to just watch the portion sizes. If you can only eat 2-3 ounces of food at a time you HAVE to eat more frequently to get all the protein you need. This was a complete switch from preop when they said "3 meals a day". Everything is individual. Drink all your liquids and measure your food. Good luck

    Discharged !

Generally speaking you should use ice not heat on a new incision but make sure you don't apply it directly to the skin. Put a towel in between. Good luck!

    Discharged !

Are you feeling better now? I didn't have a whole lot of post op pain except on the left side. Hope you had a good holiday

    bought a bike yayyyyy

I bought a bike, too I've been having a blast riding with the kids. Well, I was having fun- now it's mid 90's in Florida and a little too toasty for biking! Looking forward to some cooler evenings! Have fun!

    Getting there...

I told very few people about the surgery before I had it done. Now that I am visibly losing weight I have told others. Most people are incredibly supportive & actually proud I would be so brave. I hope you have that same result. I felt like I should have been able to lose the weight myself, too but guess what? All those failed diets, yo-yoing, insane exercise & starvation landed me right back where I always started. This surgery is a tool to help you lose weight. You still have to work at it. Lots of people regain the weight if they don't make lifestyle changes. I still fight everyday to make good food choices. Don't let anyone tell you this is the easy way. Let them know that this is simply a tool to help you be healthy. Be proud of yourself & be strong! Good luck!!
  20. I would definitely check with your MD. I had severe gastric reflux before surgery. The only thing that helped was Nexium. Now I'm off the med completely with no acid reflux. I was told that the surgery should eliminate the acid reflux so talk to your dr. I'm almost 3 months post op, too.

2 and a half months out

So 10 weeks out and I've lost 38 pounds. I could have lost more if I was exercising but I haven't been. I bought a bike & was riding with my kids every night after school. Now the temps here are around 95 every day with high humidity and rain. The joys of summer in Central Florida. I should be working out indoors but I've been lazy. I'm determined to start now that I am settled into my new job (started 2 weeks ago) and am lighter. I had a great surprise today! I have a cocktail party to go to in 2 weeks and had nothing to wear. All my clothes are too big (Yahoo!!!). I went to Kohl's and found a dark navy lace dress that I thought was just gorgeous! I also thought "no way am I going to be able to wear this". Well, I had to have my daughter zip it (damn back zippers!) but IT FIT!!! And I looked amazing! I wanted to dance around the dressing room! I can't wait to knock 'em dead in 2 weeks! Inspiration to work out, too! I would love to see that dress a little loose next month! Good luck everyone!

2 and a half months out

Thanks for your note! I'd love to keep in touch & share accomplishments! Dr Kim did my surgery in Celebration. Who is doing yours? I am also ready for the weather to break. I do sales & I'm in & out of my hot car all day. I'm always out of it long enough for the car to heat up again and the leather seats are NOT nice this time of year. I make sure I pack a cheese stick and fruit & bottles of water to take with me. Food on the run is not that easy. I really don't do too much sugar free snack food. The only things I have & am grateful for is: Weight Watchers fudgesicles (not sure what the name is) and sugar free Klondike bars. The frozen treats are great! I was also happy to see the little ice cream carts at Disney have no sugar added Strawberry bars that are super yummy! What part of Central Florida are you in? I'm in Winter Park. Stack up on popsicles and broth for after the surgery! I am still using the protein drinks every day for breakfast. I really like them & they give me a 30 gram boost of protein right off the bat. Good luck & hope to hear back from you soon! Michelle

    Ok desserts never again

I've had a few minor dumping episodes and I don't enjoy them at all. I sweat, shake, feel nauseous and all I can do is lie down. I try to be really good when I'm out somewhere because I don't want to be anywhere but home when that happens! Actually, I am very grateful for dumping because if I didn't I would be cheating. I refuse to try things I used to love (cake, sweet tea, candy, etc) because if I don't dump I'm screwed. I will go back to eating the way I used to and I have gone through too much to go back to that.

Back to my normal happy self!

3 and a half weeks post op & I feel so good it's hard to believe how crappy I felt. I fit into pants that were too snug before surgery, too! I am able to eat almost anything without trouble - have not tried breads, etc yet because it's on my "no-no" list. That's okay - don't need it I even had a few sips of iced coffee today - 5 days early because I'm such a rebel - lol! I've eaten out a few times, too & managed to find good choices that didn't bother me. Oh and the best find: no sugar added Klondike bars!!!! OMG!!! Thanks to my mom for buying them for me!! Only 3 grams of sugar & they taste fabulous!! I hope everyone is feeling as good as I am
