  1. I was scheduled to have surgery on April 1st but it has been changed to April 9th due to surgeon scheduling issues. It actually works out better because of Easter but I just want to get in there and get it over with. I was supposed to start my liquid diet but they put that off a week or so too because I am a "lightweight" patient (I have under 40 bmi but 5 comorbs) so they don't want me to lose more than 15 lbs before surgery. I need to lose a total of just over 70 lbs and I am getting a lot of people telling me that they don't think I need this surgery. I have been overweight since 4th-5th grade. I lose weight and have been down to 120 lbs but have never been able to maintain for more than a year or so. So am I taking the "easy way out", if they knew the way this surgery changes your life, they wouldn't think it was easy! But I am just tired of defending or justifying my decision. I am 39 years old and I take 6 different meds a day for hypertension, high cholestrol, GERD, etc... I don't want to be 40 something and have a heart attack like quite a few people in my family! So maybe this is an extreme way to go but I know in my heart that this is what I need to do to get off the meds, get healthy and STAY THAT WAY! Thanks for listening to my rant, please let me know if there's any of you out there in the same situation. It would be great to hear what you think (good or bad) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

    April Dates

It is definitely a tool, and a lifestyle change too. I have many friends and family that have had different weight loss surgeries and there are a few that have gained some or most of their weight back. My mom had her DS over 17 years ago and has managed to maintain but she knows her limits. Other family members have actually talked about having another surgery because they have gained back their weight but all of them went back to their old habits once they were able to eat normally again. This is our chance to make a change - a permanent change. I want to set a good, healthy example for my kids and I don't want to take all these medications everyday. I know it will be hard but nothing worth fighting for ever is. Stay positive but be real with yourself. Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

    April Dates

I am scheduled for April 1st!! So excited but kinda freaking out too. Not only is that April Fools Day but its also my 18th wedding anniversary! LOL what a way to Celebrate. I told my husband he's getting a new and improved wife for his anniversary present. Has anyone looked into getting their kitchen ready for post op. I ordered some sample supplements but I have no idea what else to get. I meet with the Nutritionist March 5th so I am assuming they will let me know then. I am so thankful for this forum, its making this whole process easier knowing I'm not walking into this blind! THANKS EVERYBODY AND GOOD LUCK!!! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
