BethAnn-IMO you should get it taken out on your scheduled day. You certainly don't want to wait until it starts hurting again. You've already been through enough without more pain. Good luck!

I guess you can figure out my name is Mary! I grew up in a small town in Illinois and move to Southern California when I was 23. I'm 54 now. (How the hell did that happen?). I work for a large health insurance plan in Los Angeles and enjoy helping others. Anyway, I am gay an have been with my partner for 24 years and we adopted 2 kids 10 years ago. The kids are siblings and since I had a hysterectomy at 25 (severe endometriosis) and my partner had fertility issues we felt this was the best way to make our family. Anyway, after the hysterectomy, the weight came on gradually, year after year.
Our son is 18 and just graduated from high school last week and our daughter is 17 and will be a senior this fall. Our kids are one of the best decisions we've ever made!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and had 2 surgeries, 8 chemotherapy infusions and 37 radiation treatments. During all if this fun I also developed a large blood clot in my brain that could not be dissolved by drugs and it is not in a place that they can safely remove it so i am stuck with it! That whole year is a bit of a blur but I have been cancer-free for almost 7 years and am thankful for every day. This surgery is helping me be healthier and lower the risk of a recurrence of the cancer. I had to have an IVC filter surgically placed below my heart before the RNY surgery to catch any clots that may have developed. It's all part of the process and just needed to be done.
I too read all of the posts but do not respond to many but I really appreciate everyone's honesty and ability to share. I have had great support at home and I really am thankful for the group of April friends.

I have been in a 2 week stall after gaining a few pounds. It has been interesting but I am not letting this deter me. At least I start to workout next week and I know that will get me out of this stall.

MaryMitchell got a reaction from nagrin in May surgeries!
Hang in there May ladies (and gents)! My surgery was 4/9 and it wasn't a picnic. We are freaking our bodies out an they react in different ways. I have my energy back and start 'regular' food today. Even though i've been grumpy at times,, teary, frustrated and just plain tired, I would NOT change my mind about having this surgery. I am down 43 lbs and loving it! Hang in there and keep your eyes on your long range goals of a healthier life.

High weight and current. Not much difference since surgery, but I can start to see some from the beginning of my journey. Note to self: clean hallway mirror!

Me two weeks ago and today
So even though it feels like I am losing super slow, at least I can see a difference in my tummy.

MaryMitchell got a reaction from jackie-o in Week post op today and full of regret.
I am so sorry you had such a horrible time. It sounds like the appendix was the big culprit. Regardless of your RNY on Monday, you still would have needed an appendectomy. Now you just need to take time to heal - it'll be harder with the app'y pain but hang in there! You CAN do this so stay strong and lean on your family, friends or this board for support. We're here for you sister! Healing thoughts coming your way!

Back to work today. Surgery 3 weeks ago and it was time to get out of the house. I brought my "lunch" today. I found out how to scramble an egg in a microwave and I think that'll be my lunch for a while. I just cracked the egg into a coffee cup, scrambled it with a fork and nuked it for 50 seconds. Sprinkled Mrs Dash and I was done! Mmmmm. I'm still struggling with knowing how much to eat and find it easier when meals are 'plain' and not a lot of choices. Lots of fish, cottage cheese and steamed veggies are on the menu. Down 31 lbs as of last week. I don't own a scale so I'm not sure if its changed since last week!

Rem - sleep as late as you possibly can. I've had late in the day surgery and I've take a sleeping pill at midnight and slept until noon. It helps! Good luck Monday.

I am in the doctors office to get my staples out this morning! I am READY! Hopefully to full liquid diet today too! I am also worn out! It doesn't take much! But according to my nut and the literature, we are on track. Our bodies are making so many adjustments now that we have to just be patient and keep working towards our goal. I am so sorry that so many folks are in pain, hopefully heat or cold will help and the 'binders' should too. Hang in there! Good luck to our surgery folks this week!

Had surgery at 730 this morning. It went well, no complications and not much paid. About 4 out of 10. Anesthesia was great and NO vomiting. I as worried about that. I am waiting for my next Dilotid shot for pain. Also had a Heparin (blood thinner) in my tummy and it stings! no have already taken 6 laps of the 30 they want you to do each 24 hours. Started slow but getting better. Some gas pains in left shoulder but the incisions and drain don't hurt. Just tender. My doc does not do the swallow test unless there is a problem. Do not forget to bring Chapstick for after surgery. Thanks for all of your good thoughts. Scoot over....I just took a permanent seat on the Losers Bench! BTW lost 22 lbs on liquid diet! WooooHooo!
