  1. I'm sure every surgeon has their own guidelines but mine says 800-900cal a day. Trying to make 60-80grams Protein and 64oz Water. Hope this helps.
  2. Sometimes eating a high calorie meal will trick your body into something funky. It's happened to me. I had been stuck for a few wks. Then I said heck with it and ate some Pasta from market place and did my same gym routine and kicked some lbs the next day. I doubt that's probably the best way but it works

Yes, the encourage you to use skim milk but I personally would rather have it with Water. Everyone is different though.

You girls are sweet. I am so glad that I can give you encouragement and inspiration!! It is such a crazy amazing thing that we get to experience. I really give credit to The Lord for making my surgery possible. I know there are so many people who want surgery but it is just nearly impossible for so many. I look forward to watching both of your journeys unfold. Congratulation Janifer on your surgery date!!!! I will never forget that day I got the call saying "it's been approved!!". It's an amazing feeling. I did a lot of blogging at the beginning of my journey. Once I got back to work and gym, I sadly quit blogging bc time just honestly got away from me. But I tell you that it is awesome to have those to go back to and read. In the beginning, my one thing I always said was I wanted to be able to read my blogs and remember exactly what I was feeling and going through at that particular time. So I very much encourage you both to do the same. You'll be so glad you did. Another thing would do is to measure! I sadly, never did this and I so wish I had. There will be times where you don't see the scale move but the inches are still melting away. I'll try to find my blog address so that you could read them if you'd like. They are not much but a very real view of what life is like before and after gastric bypass surgery.

    1 week post op RNY

Hi Beth, my name is Ranee. Indeed we have used the same surgeon who I like to call my "life saver". Dr. Roller is absolutely amazing in every way. I am 10.5 mo post op RNY bypass. I currently weigh in at 155lbs and was 298 pre op day of surgery. So that's 143lbs lost so far. Even still as I type this it seems soooo surreal. Congrats on your new journey that has only just began!!! You are absolutely right in saying that gbs doesn't change your mind. I think this is one of the many reasons we are all called to do mental evals. It's take a whole heck of a lot to NOT eat when you want it that badly. I too cried when my husband and daughter would eat in front of me. I actually had them eat in the room away from me MANY times bc it was that hard. So your not alone. I am currently at a 10.5 month park in my journey. Being out this far, I can give you a promise that it will get easier and better. Once your able to eat(chew) food, even if it's not that appealing it will be the most fabulous thing lol. I feel like I have so much I could share with you but there may be a cut off on this thing lol so, I'll just leave the question asking for you. I have always been an open book when it comes to my gastric bypass. So if you ever have a question feel free to ask. On your Weightloss thus far, I think it's fabulous! I'm pretty sure there is no "right" amount you should be losing-everyone loses weight in their own way and own pace. Trust me, it'll pick up before you know it!!! Congratulations again, Beth. You have one amazing life transformation ahead of you. ???? ❤️ Ranee

    Gallbladder attack

Thanks ladies for the replies. Ill be having an ultrasound done next Tuesday. I had my gallbladder checked just weeks before my surgery and everything was fine or so they said. Dr said that even though it looks fine, it may not be functioning fine and we can do a hida scan after the us if needed. I have not tried the med actigal. I guess my current dr is almost positive it's no good now. So for now, I guess we wait and see what the tests show next week.
  7. Just curious to know how many of you suffer from this unGodly thing as I do? I am currently 8mo post op and everything seems to be going wonderful BUT suddenly I've been having this terrible upper back pain (nothing, not even drugs makes go away) and flank pain. Oddly enough back pain is more dominate than the other. Hopefully ill get this checked out today. But like I said, just curious to know how many of you suffer from this as well.
  8. thanks so much!! i was actually thinking of getting the pill holder earlier this morning. each morning when i get to work, i dig out each bottle and take out what i need. its such a hassle sometimes and was thinking it was about time to get one! Do you know where you can get a food scale? I think thats another thing i need to invest in
  9. I was just wondering if anyone has found some awesome tools/gadgets that help us make things a little easier?? You know food scales, measuring devices, etc?? I'll admit that I dont measure as much as I should and this is probably why its so hard to get in my protein recommendation. Anyone got some "CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT DEVICES" besides the iphone?? heheh
  10. Oh dear!!! Have you tried drinking the muscle milk? its got the same thing as the bariatric protein drinks but taste 100x's better!!! My only advice is to constantly remind yourself why you are doing this. it will pass but no doubt is it the hardest thing to do. I can assure you, it is SO worth it. Good luck
  11. the connection it has is the calcium. if you arent taking your correct calcium supplements as you are supposed to your body is going to find a way to get it and that will be from you BONES AND TEETH. Only way to prevent that is take the supplements as told by your surgeon and all will be well!! good luck

    Sleepy!

I am actually 9wks post op as of Wednesday. I would say things were great week 6-7 then bam 8-9 has been crazy wicked exhaustion. I really get tired after I eat anything. Someone said maybe our bodies take alot of energy processing our food now so that's why I'm so tired. Literally after I eat my eyes get heavy and hard to hold open. It's the craziest thing ever!! Anyway, I hope we all get some energy soon. It's a shame too cuz we can't even drink coffee or energy drinks lol so sad
  13. Anyone getting sleepy after you eat?? or maybe just in general? lately, i am tired ALL the time but more so after i eat. Seems like a child thing to be dealing with..i started to regain energy but the last few weeks have definitely been anything but energized. any suggestions??

    Dumping syndrome.

I am one of those less fortunate patients who DO have the dumping syndrome anytime I consume sugar or eat just one bite too much. Even milk (sadness) can make me ill. it's absolutely the most miserable i have ever ever felt in my life. I did manage to eat super yesterday, and NO SICKNESS!!! It seriously felt like a miracle. I am 8 weeks out as of Wednesday so it was SO SO NICE to not be sick while trying to go to sleep.
  15. Sending my love and prayers this morning!!! I pray The Lord gives you peace and comfort as he gave me my surgery morning. It's such an exciting time knowing when surgery is done life as a big person will forever be different. The journey starts today friend. Yay!! Congratulations and good luck ❤❤
