What ya eating tonight?
Wendilou replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink about 8oz of broth at a sitting. The liquids just go right through my pouch. I have yet to feel hungry. I've got more than a week to go on clears. Can't wait for a creamy protein shake and some real soup! -

I've almost lost all the extra weight I put on in the hospital--it was about 8 pounds. It's not as exciting to lose those pounds. It feels like they don't count. -

Yeah I get a lot of burps when I eat and I'm passing gas way more than I used to. My intestines feel full of air most of the time. I do take the maximum GasX I can, who knows how bad it would be without it! OMG that liquid lortab is retched! I'm not taking it every 4 hours, maybe every 6 to 8. -

Nella, I'm wondering the same thing. I feel like I can drink as much as I want without getting full or sick. It seems to just go right through me. I'm still on clear liquids and I can eat sugar-free popsicles one after the other. It makes me really nervous, but I keep telling myself it's good to have lots of liquid. Here's what my doctor's orders say word for word: "Drink a minimum of 64 fluid ounces of water a day. It is OK to drink steadily throughout the day, but if you feel full or nauseated you are drinking too fast."

My surgery took about 3hrs and that includes him fixing my hiatal hernia. I'm so glad my experience is helping someone! I couldn't get enough info in when I was Pre-op, so I'm trying to give lots of details. -

Well I finally made it home. It's so nice to be in my own space. Catheter came out today, which wasn't too bad. I couldn't feel the drain tube coming out at all either--I was surprised. I walked a whole bunch today at the hospital to fend off boredom. The soreness in my tummy is slowly going away. I have 5 incision sites as well as the one from the JP drain. very little bruising noted. I did take one dose of liquid Lortab when I got home, but I don't feel like I need to take another one yet. Unfortunately I did gain about 8 pounds in the hospital, I guess from the IV fluids. Hopefully that will go away quickly. I have been having no trouble at all getting my liquids in...I hope I'm not doing anything wrong. -

things you need for the hospital: toothbrush, paste , floss pillow to hold tummy on ride home comfy, loose clothes for the ride home slip on shoes phone and charger chapstick books, magazines, iPad deodorant and powder Stuff I have on hand for my first two weeks post -op at home are: sugar free Jello sugar free popsicles broths (chicken, beef, veggie) Many different flavors of Crystal light and Sugar Free Hawaiian punch Clear protein drinks--Isopure, unjury unflavored, Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel and Twisted Cherry. Extra strength Gas-X Celebrate Bariatric vitamins (multivit, calcium, B12, Iron) Second Stage or "Full liquids" weeks 2-4 strained soups (cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of celery, tomato bisque) Milk based protein shake mixes like Syntrax Matrix Strawberry Cream and EAS vanilla Skim milk or soy milk Hope this helps! I'm sure you will get more info at your pre-op appointments. Every doc has different guidelines as far as what they want you to eat when.

I got my drain out--didn't even feel a thing. My IV blew up a bit so they took that out too. I'm supposed to be discharged this afternoon. Hopefully I can take a shower before I leave. Breakfast is chicken broth, sugar free jello and crystal light. I'm still a little sore in my tummy area, and now I'm taking liquid lortab for Pain. Excited to go home today! I've continued to walk the halls and I finally passed gas this morning. Yay! -
Vanna, you are gonna do great!! That dry mouth sure is gross, but you'll get through it Best Wishes!!
