    January 2013 Post Op

I had my surgery January 16th, and to date, I've lost 62 lbs. I honestly thought I would have lost more by now. It has settled down to a pound or two every week. I really shouldn't complain because when it was coming off fast, I was really seeing wrinkles in my hands and arms. Now that it's coming off slower, my body is adapting much nicer. I would like to add that due to both knees being bone on bone, I am not doing much walking. I did get dvd's of chair exercises. One is for yoga, one is Pilates, and one is strength and stretching. I'm not ready for more surgery yet, but I am hoping to build up my muscles AND lose all of the weight I want to lose.

    Hair loss

I spoke to my Dietician just yesterday about this. She told me that one of the people who had WLS was a dermatologist and said that people could come to her and pay her big bucks for what she sells, or they can go to Wal-Mart and buy the cheapest hydrocortison cream. Take about a dime size amount and rub it on all of your fingers and then rub it over any balding spots, or just through your scalp in general. This supposedly promotes hair growth. I'm not using it, but my dh went out and bought a tube to try lol I have so much hair that it seriously takes my stylist cutting it 3 times every 4 weeks, so for now, I'm not worrying about it. I'm in competition with my white Persian as to who can leave much hair on the couch

    Crystal Light Saved My Life

My Dr has me chewing a couple of tums every day for Calcium. They are actually pretty good!

    Embarrassing ?

All I have had is water since surgery last Wednesday, so I wasn't surprised I haven't had a bm. I start pureed foods tomorrow and figured I would get back on track then. I'm starving!
  7. Had my surgery on the 16th and was home the next evening. Other than a fever, I'm doing pretty well. I don't remember Wednesday at all lol. Glad to be home in ny own jammies!

    January Dates

I have my surgery is on Wednesday the January 16th. I was in high gear anxiety mode on Saturday what was fine yesterday. Today I want to finish packing, paying bills, making a last minute phone calls to doctors offices, etcetera. I also want to make sure I have a good grocery list for my husband. Tomorrow I spend in the bathroom lol and then Wednesday will be here before I know it! My only fear at this point is of picking up the flu well I'm in the hospital. I swear I have never gone to the hospital without being sicker when I left!

    What Is The Best Flavoring...

Today I put 1/4 cup of cold coffee, 1 T. of Torini S.F. Chocolate syrup into Bariatric Advantage Vanilla Powder. I added water to the cold coffee until it was 8 oz. It was a delicious Mocha drink! I've been having fun with using extracts and the Torini S.F. syrups. It's the only thing that has kept me sane! lol
  10. One more thing. My Weight Management Clinic told me to bring a pillow to hold over my stomach as apparently the hospital doesn't hand out any to take home with you in the car. My dh went out and bought a pillow that feels just right (the baby bear pillow - not too soft, not too firm, would normally be used as a couch pillow), and he picked out colors he knew I would like.
  11. I have surgery on Wednesday the 16th. I'm taking along Ocean nasal spray and hand sanitizer. I'm afraid of the flu going around! I was also advised to listen to Successful Surgery by Belleruth Naparstek. Having the earbuds in my ears helps block out the noise here at home so I'm hoping it does the same in the hospital. I'm also taking a book on CD, as suggested by a friend who also had GBS. The surgery tape is great and I'll be listening to one by the same author for pain after surgery. Good luck everyone!
