  1. How are you doing? Haven't seen you post in a long time
  2. I don't think its such a big deal once you're further out but the risk of ulcers in the beginning is high because you're still healing..same reason not to smoke...i have up both for the surgery...I've also dealt with ulcers before having surgery and they can be very painful
  3. I've tried the Atkins...the ones I looked at seem so high in carbs which is odd to me cuz Atkins diet is low/no carb! There's a lean cuisine one I like but can't remember what it is....some oriental one
  4. I have not been in a relationship for a few years now and have not been looking for one...well about 1 1/2 month before surgery I met a man online..not a dating site...we began talking thru email everyday...i kept telling myself I'm not going to get involved because I want to spend this time working on me and don'T want to get sidetracked...i didn't take long tho for us to feel we are in love...we have not met yet in person but we talk daily on the phone...he asked me several times not to have the surgery as he was concerned but I had to do this for me and my health...of course he knows what I look like....we plan to meet very soon but I have to admit I'm a little nervous! I'm hoping my fears don't get in the way...anyone have any advice for me?
  5. I've been wondering how you feel when your blood sugar is low? Do you feel weak? Shaky? It's so hard to eat a balanced diet now..i was borderline diabetic before surgery
  6. I've Had mine for over 3yrs...i really haven't noticed any change yet but I'm only 8 wks out and down 32lbs....that's something I'll have to pay more attention to..sure hope it doesn't affect how good it works..I'm supposed to get it flushed monthly but I let it go longer...may I ask why you have one? Mine was put in during cancer treatment
  7. I have a power port in my chest...any blood draws or ivs are run thru this...i don't think this is the answer you're looking for???
  8. I rarely need a shake anymore
  9. I just don't like to eat things that I don't know the what the calories and protein is in it...i don't even want to cook anything yet cuz it's too hard to calculate so I've been sticking with alot of basics....whatever I can read on a label haha...funny but before I never bought much ready made processed food. Did more cooking from fresh food..now im in the freezer dept in the store all the time and I don't like it
  10. I ate 2 other pieces of jerky also..they are small pieces..i had a couple bites left but my dog enjoyed it! ....i always try to add cheese to whatever I eat when possible. I'm a meat eater so I never have trouble meeting my protein. I try to eat about 5 small meals a day..since I've been doing this I've been losing at least 1 to 1 1/2 lbs a day
  11. For example for breakfast I had 4 sliced up soft turkey jerky with 1 scrambled egg with 1/4 c moz cheese...that gave me 230 cal and 20 g protein!
  12. More likely to develop ulcers from what I understand..i do believe it may dehydrate you as well??
  13. I haven't even had decaf coffee yet...i gave it up about 4 months before surgery...after surgery I could not stand the smell of it! I do have decaf tea tho...that really helps get my fluids in
  14. I totally agree...i get 800-1000 a day,exc at least 30 min a day and the weight has been coming off....i know most of you use mfp...i prefer to use my tablet so I have a visual of what I'm doing...easy reference looking at the days I'm losing and not losing...it helps me be more accountable everyday...guess I'm"old fashioned" with my pen(glad I looked as I just spelled porn not pen!) And paper....my problem is eating too fast...i CANT make a meal last 30 min! I often don't chew good enough and food gets stuck..I'm still working on that
  15. I hope it eases up for you
  16. I'm still trying to learn to eat slow...but I can tell when I'm getting full. I experience food getting stuck too often ...i think I do better with things that are harder rather than soft cuz I must be more aware of chewing better
  17. Is the pain from over eating or is something stuck?
  18. it will be interesting to see how this plays out....are you feeling any better yet?
  19. I hope I remember to ask at my next appt...I've forgotten 2x already lol! On the plus side I finally am down 31 lbs...5 in the last week.
  20. You'll get passed this...a little patience ..relax...everyone here has or will stall..your body needs to catch up sometimes. I know the frustration tho..i myself am losing slow....I've had moments where I told myself I may as well eat whatever cuz I'm not losing but then I remind myself of everything I've been thru to get to this point and I'm not going to blow it...try to put the scale away for a few days..hang in there!
  21. Hope you both feel better soon
