- Chewing and swallowing HELP
We all think that but you will be ok.- Chewing and swallowing HELP
Yea think we all do that. Trust me i havent been able to swallow anything but my vitamins and one of my pills are huge and even cutting it up to swallow is still to big and my throat knows it. I am not at the stage to eat foods yet i am post op still liquids right now. Next week will be puree foods. Its all about retraining yourself. Just like a baby. We will be ok- Question about gum
They said no gum no cigarettes no caffeine ever after surgery. Gum and straws cause gas and air in your new stomach. And that will cause irritation and un needed pain.- Pain after surgery.
I went in for surgery December 31st 2012 and was released January 1st 2013, I had very minimal pain. the nurses said I did good because I only used the morphine pump 3 times after surgery. I still have not had much pain mostly some soreness around the wounds. but its tolerable.- You women with small children
I have my hubs who i dont cook for because he is all about greasy crap and on a hot wing kick. He believes the best meals come from a drive thru window. Because when i used to cook it was veggies and baked foods. So i don't have to cook for him. He has been fat all his life and doesn't know what is normal. He is over 400 lbs. nothing his parents and i haven't tried to tell him. He is 47 and a grown man. Hopefully me changing will encourage him. Blessings to all- December 2012 Post Op Group
They gave me 2 insulin shots in hospital. My sugar only got to around 165 they said was high. Considering the highs i used to have over 200 i thought 165 was ok. I am supposed to take my metformin at home but have a hard time with it getting down even cutting it in half's. But i think its running ok. I need to get in habit of checking it 2 and 3 times a day- You women with small children
I want to tell you i admire you for taking back your life and doing this surgery with small kids up to teenagers. Having to cook for them. Wow!! Gotta be hard if you fix something you liked. There is no way i could do it. God bless you for a speedy recovery with lots of strength- Ok here is a question
Once you have the by pass surgery. I know the surgeon doesn't remove your stomach, but what happens to it? Does it shrink up? Does it just lie there flopping around. Very curious that i will ask him at 2 week check up- December 2012 Post Op Group

It's so scary though. Even if I think I am doing it right I am so afraid I will have a problem like so many of you have had. I don't want to puke never liked to puke and sure don't want to now. I hope we all feel good by our 6 month status and we never have to worry about all these hiccups in the beginning.- December 2012 Post Op Group
Oh Lisa meds can you believe it? All my meds seem ok to go down except the huge ass metformin pill and I still cut it in to 4s and still feels too big. It feels like right when it goes to the back of my tongue it gets stuck but I keep sipping water and it's down. When did you ll take your calcium and iron pills? I know when they sent me home they said doc said start the multi vitamin Next day. They didn't mention the other vitamins.- December Dates
I did try a SF Popsicle today was very good. I am having chix broth this evening. Already got my protein in Don't seem to have a problem with it. Don't have a problem with water either. So hope it keeps going like this for another week.- December 2012 Post Op Group

Jodi I told dr roller when he gets in there to see if he could find the alien in my stomach. He thought that was rather funny. Lol I know alot of you said you were sleeping in a recliner I tried and can't. I sleep in bed with alot of pillows. And they told me in the hospital I could sleep on my sides which I do. Just not on my stomach which I don't. Sending hubs to store tomorrows more water. Gas x. SF jello. SF applesauce. A themometer . What else should I get?- December 2012 Post Op Group
Yea not sure if it's gas pains I hope so. It's all my upper back area really. Tomorrow I will attempt a shower and try to do more walking. Of course in my sub conscience I think I am having heart pains. But know I am not. Lisa hope you get to feeling better- December 2012 Post Op Group
The gas pains you all talk about where are they located. I belch more then the other way. But have weird pains in my back right in the center between shoulder blades. Sometimes under the blades. Could they be gas pains or something else?- Nsfw- I'm Sorry But I Have To Share This

So sorry Lisa. Hope they find out whats going on. This is what scares me the most so many having problems afterwards. Hope everyone gets to feeling better. Prayers all around to you. Jesus take our hands and heal us. Make us strong- Dec 31st surgery, hey I am ok
Oh i do walking. Its really cold and some ice on the driveway. But i do walk around the area in my house. Have a circle like living room kitchen dining room hallway. I just do it about 6 times. I move my legs and feet constantly when sitting or laying around.- Dec 31st surgery, hey I am ok
I feel good, I am doing what they told me to do. using those medicine cups to drink my protein drinks and my water. sip sip till all 5 are gone and fill back up and repeat. thought I would be able to have my SF Popsicles and SF jello, but not yet. able to start taking my vitamins, and my normal prescription meds I took before the surgery, everything seems to be ok. haven't taking anymore pain meds. I had to get that anesthesia out of my system. so 2 days post op I am fine - December 2012 Post Op Group
