Oh! I think remember you! I felt so bad for you bc you looked miserable! You have dark brown hair? Actually most everyone looked so miserable. I did well in the hospital but don't worry I got mine when I went home. It was night and day. I felt great on all the meds they gave in the hospital then the vicodyn dose you get at home is like half and I was chowing down on the zofran like crazy. I'm a wimp too I found out lol -

Seems like everything! Syntrax nectar( single serv and tubs), good assortment of bariatric Vitamins, Protein powder, protein pudding, protein Jell-O shots, Protein Bars and Snacks for later on in WLS. A helpful pharmacist that can steer you in the right direction. Oh and PB2 powdered Peanut Butter that you can put in your shakes. They also have medical supplies like bandages and abdominal binders and such. So many things I wish I knew they had before I bought them online and paid shipping. Plus if you go to the support group once a month on Wed. night they will give you 20% off your bariatrics purchases. Whew that was a lot to write -
Suggestions for first day/week of solid foods?
Kami63 replied to ninanew's topic in Food and Nutrition
Today was my forst day as well. I had Greek yogurt for breakfast, no sugar added applesauce for mid morning snack, cheese and thin lunch meat for lunch and beans with cheese with a small amount of avocado for dinner. All measured of course to not go over my surgeon's limit for oz. I had to supplement with a 30g protein shake to hit my protein. Tomorrow I will try a scrambled egg just go with things you like. I spent an hour in the grocery store deciding what to get based on how soft, protein and other nutrition content. I got enough for three weeks I think lol -
I was 6/25 and I am in the slow loser club but at least it is coming off. Lost 9 pounds since surgery. I had the dreaded week three stall. Transitioned from liquids to soft solids today. Yum! Yogurt and lunch meat and Beans were all yummy. Pain is still present in my left side but tolerable with twice a day Tylenol. Today I was really tired but I had been feeling pretty good. So far so good on this wonderful journey Artymama how has your pain and intake gone?

I had my EGD at Victory and my surgery at FP Dallas and I prefer FP Dallas. Beautiful rooms. The nurses and aids were all fabulous. And the cool thing about FP Dallas is Daugherty's pharmacy. Thy have a lot of the stuff bariatrics patients need and some things that are hard to find. Also you can sign up for them to bring your prescription meds to your room before you leave he hospital. It is a free and awesome service bc trust me, you do not want to have to fill prescriptions on the way home. I don't know if Victory has this service. Great overall experience there. The only hiccup I had there was that a staff member in the OR that sets it up was out sick that day, so they took longer than they should have to set up the OR so I did not go into surgery on time. Dr Nick was probably mad about that lol -

I had mine at Forrest Park Dallas and there were only 2 others on my floor. Everyone was pretty sleepy and we all walked at different times. I would have talked to them but we all seemed grumpy. There was a nutrition class we all went to but some slept sitting up lol. Oh and I was number 1 of the day on my day. I was a revision And my surgery lasted 50 minutes from wheel back to notifying my hubby. My hubby said 50 min later Dr Nick came out to notify another family. Efficient and great success rate with leaks! -

Congrats! Let us know how it goes -
The only opinion I have is that you may want to tell him about the surgery. He may be inquisitive if he sees your scars and if you take it to that level he may be upset if he sees the scars and you hid it from him. Just my humble opinion

Unjury and Syntrax nectar products ..where to buy
Kami63 replied to huligoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got my Syntrax nectar from BJ' s bariatrics on line. http://www.bjsbariatrics.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=bjb&Product_Code=synSamplePack&Category_Code= They also have the big tubs but you may want to get the sample pack to decide what flavor. I'm not much help on the flavor though. I didn't like them but everyone is different. A lot of people swear by Syntrax Nectar... -
Oh and forgot to say the most important thing! Good luck and congratulations

I packed light. Front closing wireless bra, clean underwear, socks, brush, tooth brush, deodorant, sleep shorts ( I stayed in their gown due to incision leakage) gas x and Chapstick. I also had my mini iPad for when I was not sleeping or walking. They gave me toiletries to shower with and a clean gown. Some people don't shower in the hospital though. All of it fit in a small tote. Hopefully that helps

Well the gas x strips for me were a lifesaver. Did you ask him why he did not recommend them? -
Who was a revision patient
Kami63 replied to Luv2bslim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm not sure if there are real studies on it I have seen a few people on here that are slower losers after revision. I'm ok with it as long as I can get the weight off -

I had mine done on 6/25 and for some reason I have taken it harder than the band surgery. I went back to work at two weeks but should have waited 3. The happy news is that I can already tell a difference. I get a real full feeling and have not vomited all. The awful pain I had in my chest from the band was gone right after te surgery. Weightloss is slower than others but I expected that bc I could not eat much before surgery either. So far so good! -

Oh my gosh! I had to take the potassium too. But mine was like crystals or something. You put Water in it and it doesn't dissolve all the way. I had the medicine ball too. I went home after one day so my husband pulled out the medicine ball. I am hopeful that my pain is going away. Last night was the first night I could sleep on my side without being in agony. Best sleep in two weeks bc I am a side sleeper -
How do you compare vomiting with the sleeve vs the band?

June 25th Sleevers? I need a buddy...

Is the Pepcid working for you? I have crazy reflux and was on Pepcid. They had to switch me to omeprazole bc I couldn't sleep at night. Anyone else having bad reflux? -
Well my 5 year battle with my band is finally coming to an end tomorrow. I have been trying to get approved to take it out for 3 years. Wow. I am ecstatic. I am hoping to wake up sleeved as well... Bye by band... I am looking forward to no ports no tight chest feeling, no throwing up all the time and a chance to gain my life back with the sleeve as a tool. Goodnight band, for in the morning you will be evicted forever. GOOD RIDDANCE

Me too! This is painful

Opinion of band to sleeve conversion
Kami63 replied to KaraColadarci's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Basically if they take the band out my insurance considers you a new patient for VSG so you go through all the hoops to get approved for the sleeve as a separate surgery. Mine did get approved all in one though. Maybe call the precert department at the insurance and ask specifically about two different surgeries maybe a little while apart. They may treat you like a new patient but they prob don't want to tell you even if they would. Also what others said. Call you docs insurance specialist and see if they can work some magic. Hope that helps. -

I'm a newbie but I am happy to report at two weeks out I have not vomited. Yay! Hope that doesn't change when I get to soft foods. -
First day back to work!
Kami63 replied to PaNailGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too. Today was my first day back and I'm two weeks out. I was so nauseated this morning and tired and in pain. I had to run a couple of errands after work and I overdid it. I had to take pain medicine. It was nice to see my friends at work again though. It will get better. I think I need to force myself to work though because I am feeling like I want life to be normal again. Work is the most normal. Can get right now aside frm eating with my friends. Hang in there... We Can Do This lol -
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You will be in my prayers as well in your time of need. Hang in there.
