    types of multi-vitamins

It's funny how different surgeons say different things. I was told under no circumstances should an RNY patient use flintstones Vitamins. I was told bariatric vits or Centrum silver (or its generic equivalent). Not using flintstones complete had something to do with ASMBS guidelines for bariatric patients. Here's also a write up about it .. http://wlsvitagarten.com/2011/01/16/guest-post-whats-the-fuss-about-flintstones I personally take centrum silver.

    Finally!

I'm the type of person that use other people's successes to push me. So I joined different weight loss surgery sites and just looked at everyone's profiles that had had surgery. Seeing all of the amazing results kept me excited and less worried. But I also read some of the less successful profiles and they helped me figure out what to expect if things don't go as smooth. Knowledge is power so I researched, researched, researched. Any night I couldn't sleep I was on the sites reading old posts. Any question you may have has been asked by someone before so I would just search for my question and read the responses. I felt so informed going into my pre-op appointment and into surgery that I was almost worry free! (notice I said almost, I'm human, and it is major surgery so some worry is warranted. Trusting your surgeon and his abilities is key). Another way I prepped myself my seem weird but I started looking at all of the clothes in magazines like Instyle and on different websites that I knew I could never fit anything in post-op. I knew that I wanted to be able to stop my emails from the avenue and lane bryant and start getting catalogs and emails from Victoria Secret and Express etc. Every time I saw a small outfit I liked I would tell myself, I will be able to get into that one day post-op... total motivation! And it worked! I walked in on surgery day READY!! And I stopped my lane bryant and other large size stores email about 2 weeks ago (not sure why it took so long I haven't stepped foot in one of those stores since surgery lol.)

    Constantly feeling cold

I am 14 months out, my thermometer says my house is 74 degrees and I AM COLD! At night when I get into bed my husband doesn't want my hands or feet near him because he says I'm freezing LOL! I am always cold, but then again I was always cold pre-op. But now I get to the point where my teeth chatter and everything. My labs are all fine so I'm just hoping once I get to goal my body will catch up and I won't be so cold anymore! I'm glad I live in the southern states now because if I still lived in NY I'd probably be dying!

    Finally!

Everything you're feeling is normal. As it gets closer to your date you'll get more excited and at times more worried. But it is so worth it! I feel so good now. I won't lie and say there aren't any hard days but there weren't many for me, and I am loving life!!!

    I dont like food:(

At a month out I was still nauseous and my surgeon prescribed ant-nausea medication that dissolved on the tongue so I didn't have to swallow a pill. The nausea got better not too long after that. Everyone is different, for you doctor to say you shouldn't be nauseated after 3 weeks is silly. Yes it could be something major, or it could just be that your body is getting used to all these new changes going on within you. In fact, I'm 14 months out and I still have days where I have bouts of nausea and I will take my meds.
  8. Chapstick Cell phone and charger I wore a loose dress there and wore it back home. Personal hygiene products Tablet w/ charger (some people don't use them in the hospital but I'm a techie so I HAD to have mine) If you're journaling your journey make sure you bring your journal to write down you feelings as they happen Listerine breath strips... I was in ketosis by surgery day so my breath needed lots of help A pillow. Not only for sleeping on but also as a shield against the seatbelt on the ride home

    confused!

Yes your tastes will more than likely change after surgery so even if you absolutely love something right now, post op you may hate it. Good luck on your search. Check around online. You can get samples of most of the protein shakes so you can buy some and mix them yourself (some syntax flavored taste good in crystal light).

    What ya eating tonight?

I had a baked chicken thigh seasoned with Mrs. Dash spicy seasoning (can't remember the exact name) and some collard greens. Simple and tasty!

    Thoughts on this liquid vitamin?

Looks good. I just take a centrum silver (or a non-name brand equivalent) as my multivitamin. When caught on sale you can sometimes get 2 for the price of one or buy one get one half off. It's not a liquid but it works.

Need diet advice pre op :)

Honestly no one can tell you what Protein shakes you will like. We can tell you which ones we like but you may try them and hate them. Also shakes that you like pre-op you may hate post-op because our tastes tend to change. Like others have said you will have to try different shakes so you may want to order samples this way you won't spend a lot of money on a shake that you hate. Jazz them up yourself. Some syntax nectars taste better if you mix them with crystal light. You can try adding fruit or flavoring to a vanilla Protein Shake, add ice, blend, and it becomes a protein smoothie. Add chocolate protein to your iced coffee and it becomes a mocha coffee. Experiment, I promise you it gets easier. As for sticking to your diet pre-op, I fell off the wagon a few times myself pre-op. it's a learning experience and like I said before it gets easier over time. You'll be surprised but you'll get to the point where you don't get hungry and you'll be forcing yourself to eat. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Energy drinks?

I do drink the absolute zero monsters when I need that added jolt of energy. I love them! And they actually taste good. Here's the nutritional content: I wouldn't say drink them everyday but once in a while shouldn't hurt. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    What ya eating tonight?

Yes I was told the same thing so I went in the store and checked for myself. And yes low fat did have higher carbs. So I too use regular mayo when I do use it which isn't often anyway.
