That's all I have, is vaca. I'm only part time and I do not get sick time and I don't have a lot of vaca time banked! So I'm going to be out without pay.

Approval But Work Issues!
I definitely have medical conditions that lead to this surgery. And our company is smaller than 50 employees. Thank you for the input!! Ill just have to wait and see when the surgery can be scheduled next week and just hope for the best.

Approval But Work Issues!
I should mention this is a very small company I work for. No HR Dept or anything. I don't think we even have FMLA here. I was told by a friend to obtain a lawyer if it becomes an issue because he said I could not lose my job over this. I just don't think it's fair that she dictates when I have my surgery.

Approval But Work Issues!
Ok, I'm suppose to be so excited now that I got my insurance approval but I got a call from my boss today saying that she's heard that I was approved for surgery but since its an "elective" procedure I cannot be out of work over the holidays. I didn't know how to respond at first but I don't think it's her call as to when I have my surgery. Just wanted to get other people's take on this. Is it fair she says this or not??

Everything In Sight
I didn't mean anything by my post. It was just my personal experience and I wish the best for everyone here. I just had a hard time realizing that a lot of my last foods had already happened. Good luck to everyone and I hope I get some lasts still before my surgery.

Everything In Sight
I told my husband that I wanted a "last meal" before I started this pre op diet I'm on and he said to me " that's your problem. Your last meal should've been yesterday and you're not realizing that." that hit home for me. All my foods got me to this spot that I'm in today and it needs to stop today!! I have to realize that I can't keep cheating at this cuz I'm the only one losing from it. My approval is now delayed because I quit dieting and didn't lose any weight. When's enough?? I'm having a hard time justifying any kind of cheating or eating once I can again. Food has a huge grip on most of us in this position and that's where the mental part of this comes into play. Maybe I'll need to see a shrink or something down the road but I need to get healthy. Try and remember your goal which is surgery and they can deny you if you haven't lost enough weight.

Feelling Very Discouraged
Stay with it!! We are here for you and like the other person said, it wasn't a no and in six months you'll have a date!! I'm so nervous that my insurance is going to do something like that. I have my last Psych appt on Oct. 17th and I need to lose 17lbs by then for the clinic to submit my info to insurance. I've been at this since July and expecting a date somewhere in Nov/ Dec timeframe. If I get told it'll be another six months out or it's a no I don't know what I'll do but I'll be very discouraged also. I will stick with it and do what's required but man will I be pissed!! Just sayin. So I understand where you're coming from but just know there's a light at the end of your long tunnel!! We're here for ya!!

Freaking Out!
Good. Glad to hear that you'll find things out on his end and I pray that you get in sooner. I think I'm going to try to get in sooner with my Psych to get the ball Rollin here.

Freaking Out!
So sorry to hear about this!! You are in my prayers. Just still take it one day at a time. You've come too far to stop now. You can do this and the insurance will be worked out, you have options so don't panic now when there's nothing you can do about it. Just remember what the goal is and keep working towards it because it's not out of reach!! Stay strong!!

Diet Thoughts?
I'm am pre op right now and doing high protein/ low carb and sticking to 1200 calories a day and trying to exercise 30 minutes a day also. No one is dieting with me either which makes it hard but we can do it together. Eggs are high in cals so I eat egg whites. Low fat cheeses, including cottage cheese are good sources of protein. I drink low calorie high protein shakes by EAS (whey) called AdvantEdge low carb whey protein shakes. They don't taste the best but I use them for a meal or part of a meal ( meals should be around 500 cals if no snacks) or as a snack. I also just bought whey protein powder because it's way cheaper than the drinks so I'll start making my own shakes. Just like other people said, eat meats (like chicken turkey and fish) then non starchy veggies. I stay away from fruit all together on a low carb diet and also avoid breads pastas and rices all together. But if that's too hard eat fruit like watermelon or cantelope and eat whole grains if you have to. Another thing that's totally helping me is myfitnesspal.com. It's a calorie and exercise tracker and a lot of people from here are on it. My username is amcdowell779. You should join if you haven't already it's an awesome app and everyone's so supportive!!

Pre-Op Eating

Ways To Pass The Time?
Exercise is a great way to stay busy but you can't do that ALL the time. I've found a lot of books online about wls and I'm sure you can find them at your bookstores like Barnes and Noble. I've also been staying really busy on this and another forum and myfitnesspal.com. I was told to start taking my meds now like I would after the surgery and start a high protein low carb diet. I'm also staying more busy these days by doing more stuff rather than sitting around like cleaning more, organizing, taking my two year old to the park and out for walks. Immerse yourself in everything you can right now that has to do with wls. Learn as much as possible but remember to always go by what the doctor says. I didn't listen to the dietician and now I'm waiting on my appointment for another month because I didn't start losing my weight like I was instructed to do. I listened to some others that said it might be too early and to wait so I did. Now I have one month to lose 17 lbs to have my info submitted to insurance for my approval. Pinterest always has millions of things you could do on there if you like to cook or if you are crafty!! Good luck!!
