  1. Hello, thank you for replying to me and I want to that you for your support for the military, that mean a lot.

I want to personally thank you for your post. I stopped logging and when I ate something bad I just said "its already done might as well eat bad the whole day" That was the wrong way of thinking. I also starting drinking, I lost my mother suddenly and my day 10 months later so drinking helped me cope. I haven't had a drink in 2 weeks but its a struggle. It's great having support, I really needed to read your post and glad I have a community to help. Thanks again.

First welcome back to the group and my family and I thank you and your husband for service and you for loving and supporting him!
Now down to your post - I had surgery just a few months before you and as we continue to live this life and struggle daily with our food choices it is important to remember why we had the surgery to begin with.
I could say remember everyday is a new day and get back on program, but I know that is not what I want to hear when I struggle. I want to hear I am not alone in this struggle. When you look around you and see everyone eating "normal" and you sit there and best yourself up over everything you eat can feel lonely. You are not alone. I have fallen off the wagon many times and after beating myself up for several days I remember that it is wasted energy. I had to find and remind myself what was important and why I did this. That helps me during these hard times.
So make your mind up to stop beating yourself up and take it one food choice at a time. If you are making bad choices at every meal just start slowly and replace one meal with a rny approved meal. Then make it two meals and so on.
Finally start logging your food. It shows the truth in black and white. While you document your food - log your emotions and stresses during meals. When I did that I leaned that my issue was stopping at gas stations during work. I drive all day and when I would stop to use the restroom I would buy junk! I changed that habit by keeping good Snacks in my truck. The temptation was tough and I was not always successful at resisting, but recognizing your triggers is a big part of the war!
Good luck and remember we are all here and behind you!!

  2. Thank you for replying and giving me the link. I'm going to do the pouch test and start new. Thanks again.

You've taken the first and most important step in reaching out. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've read others say you need to go back to the beginning and start over again. Also I've seen others recommend this link as a re-start point after a long stall: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/index.html

Hang in there, you'll get going again.

  3. Hello everyone,

I had my surgery in Nov 2012. I was active on the forum until after surgery. 6 months after surgery my husband received orders to a new duty station and I no longer had the support of my surgeon and his staff. I tried to do it alone..... up until now. I am struggling with food choices, exercise and motivation. I can't do this alone and need support from a community that knows what I am going through. I am weighing in at 170 and have been stalled forever. I decided to become active again with the forum. I feel like a failure because I know what I am doing wrong.

  4. Ugghhhh I hate stalls  I was in a 3 month stall 5 months post op. What I did to get out of it .... I increased my exercise from walking 45 minutes a day to jogging 1 hour 7 day a week. I also set goals that I had to reach by certain dates etc. That got me a bit more focused.

Thanks for the advice. You had a long stall... I know how you feel 5 months p. o and been on a stall for 2 weeks now. I'm going to set goals for myself. Thanks again, I will be taking your advice also.

  5. Well there are a few things that might help. One is track your foods. There are tons of apps out there for computer and phone- I have found this helps one truly see what they are eating in a day. Also with that go back to measuring and don't go over a cup a meal. Second' date=' Increase Protein decrease carbs. Third, go back to basics when you drink a Protein supplement for a meal or two and eat a meal and or a healthy snack. Or even go back to liquid diet for a week or two. Fourth, change up your exercise routine, your body might just have decided it likes your routine and doesn't want to let go of anymore weight. Fifth, make sure you are measuring yourself along with jumping on the scale. We often are losing inches and the scale might not be moving much. If you are really athletic and building muscle remember muscle weighs more so the scale might even go up a bit-however that is okay because muscle is good.

Other things to think about-how far out are you? How much have you lost? Are you getting close to goal? Are you taking any medications that can interfere with weight loss? As we lose weight we won't see the big numbers and might stall out a bit. Also if you had some great months of loss of 15-30 pounds you might have a month with nothing. Look at the big picture. Work the program your surgeon has designed for you. If you are really getting frustrated call your surgeon/dietician and see if they can game plan with you and figure out what is causing the stall. More then likely this is just a normal bump in the road. I think we all get to anxious and want to see immediate results. Remember we didnt put this weight on over night so it will take some time to come off. Plus, for me I would not have lost the 45-50 pounds I have in 11 weeks without this surgery. My favorite quote is "Slow and steady win the race." Good Luck[/quote']

Thanks for replying. I love your respond. So far I'm about 5 months p.o and have lost about 67 pounds. I don't eat a lot but I do workout a lot. My goal is to be 120. I started out at 246 and I'm currently 179. I hate being a slow loser and stalling. I have not measured myself. I will be taking your advice and setting goals and measuring everything. I'm actually going to print your respond... Lol. I think reading it often will help.

  6. Mine was 11/6/12 too!! Started at 218 and I'm 191ish now' date=' wish I was so much further along BUT wouldn't of lost even 5 without the surgery so I'll take it! I get down often but, there is no turning back so I might as well embrace it![/quote']

Yay... A surgery twin... Your right, I need to learn to taking the lost as a good thing.

  7. Just curious what other people are losing. Tuesday will be 8 weeks and I am only down 33 pounds. I feel like that number should be higher. Plus I am frustrated because I go back to the dr on wednesday and since it is afternoon and I will have clothes on it will probably read a higher number. Which is totally discouraging to me even though I know in my head why. I really thought at 2 months out I would be down at least 40lbs. I definitely stall way more often then I lose! Getting irritated like I will be the one person this surgery doesn't work on. Nothing has made me dump. I dont eat red meat. I don't drink anything carbonated. Ugh. Anybody a few months ahead of me that started around 240 have a similar experience?

Hi. Well, I feel just like you. My starting weight was 246 and now I'm 202 I'm going through a stall. My surgery date was 11/6/12 and I expected to be in the 190's by now. It's very discouraging.
