  1. Thought this was funny...my fiance's mother is against me getting surgery. She keeps trying to talk me out of it. She told me about some of her co-workers who had the surgery. She says "you don't want to end up like them. They throwup everyday after lunch"! So she then tells me they go to McDonalds often and get something along with a snickers lol. No wonder they're getting sick. At that point, I just nodded and didn't bother correcting her. She (and a lot of other people) also seem to say "omg, you are never going to eat again, do you know what that will be like? Not eating your favorite foods for life?? OMG"! Comments like these drive me nuts and make me want the surgery 100x more lol.
  2. I wanted to give my sister something for the gas pains, but the nurse said NO gas-x or anything else. She said nothing would help but walking. It's funny, because some are allowed gas-x or infant gas relief drops and others are expected to take nothing and endure it lol. Very confusing!
  3. Let me know how everything goes with UHC!
  4. Bacon cheeseburgers and kraft mac & cheese! Ohhh boy!
  5. Glad to hear you are doing better!!
  6. I know your a few days post-op, did your gas pain subside?
  7. I hear so many post-ops talk about gas pain and for someone who is pre-op like myself, how would you describe it? What does it feel like? My sister just got her surgery done on the 25th, and is experiencing gas pain. I'd like to know sort of what she's feeling! I also would like to know as a way to prepare myself for when it's my turn

  11. Welcome!! This is a wonderful site with plenty of support from great people I have just begun the process too, and am hoping for surgery in December. I have United Healthcare Community Plan, and they only cover RNY. They also require I do 6 months of supervised diet weigh-ins with my Dr. Every UHC plan is different though. Some require 6 months, some require none. Have you called UHC yet to find out the requirements? That's a good start. Comgrats on your decision. Glad to see someone else here with UHC and in their 20's, like me
  12. Oh boy. I'll miss carbs in general, fast food, french fries, and my beloved pizza! I'm more than ready to say goodbye to those things (for the most part, lol)
  13. How do you feel being a week post op? Oh yeah, has the pain subsided?
  14. Curious to know how you're feeling two weeks out!
  15. For those who have had the surgery recently...is the pain tolerable? My sister had her surgery yesterday afternoon and says the pain is horrible and she can't tolerate morphine because she throws up...shes so scared she has a leak because she threwup hrs after surgery but I hope not. She said pain is so bad! I guess it's different for everyone. She had a hernia repaired too. She also had vertical sleeve, not bypass. Hmmmm.
  16. Oh! By the way, keep us all updated!!! Hang in there
