  1. They put me on scapolimean (sp) patch for the excess saliva. It is the patch given to people before they go on a cruise.
  2. I got it when I started having issues. They gave me phenergren after surgery
  3. Every time I tried to cheat I threw it all up. It is not worth it, but I learned from it
  4. I went back after a week. I started a new job a week after my surgery and could not take off any longer. The only issues I had was the pain for the incisions.
  5. My doc told me there is no way to stretch my pouch and it is all a rumor about carbonation. However he said it is because of the way he does the procedure. He said other local docs sew in a place that allows for stretching.
  6. There are times I look at my clothes falling off of me and I can not believe it. I have had people say I look completly different and like a new me. The best thing is that my rhuematoid arthritis doc said my inflammation is the est she has seen it in years and I can start decreasing my prednisone dosage. I start playing soccer next week and I can tell my weight is down because it does not hurt to play.
  7. My doc said soda was fine, but I figure I have broken the habit and I don't want to get hooked again. I also struggle with staying hydrated and soda defeats the water I drink. To me it is not worth it.
  8. I am 10 weeks out and have had an occastional glass of wine in the evenings and had no problem. However it does go straight to your head. You can not drink the volume you did before the surgery. Make sure someone's with you the first time you drink as you may not know how you will react with your new body!
  9. I had to get an egd done, stress test, and psyc eval. My insurance only required the psyc.
  10. Pickles made me sick, but I am told pickle juice has good potassium. It was suggested to me to drink some before my soccer games.
  11. Sounds like your surgeons office is throwing all the road blocks. I interviewed two surgeons before making my decision. One of the key factors for me was that one office seemed very willing to help move things quickly and the other office was not. So shop around find the right office for you!
  12. As long as you are solid in your decision you have nothing to worry about it. I had hit my rock bottom so to speak and nothing was going to change my mind. Listen to their concerns and give them the reasons you are having the surgery. My mom asked me why I was getting the surgery and I was honest with her. I told her I could no longer effectively clean personal areas in the shower. After that she supported my decision. My doctor has billboards all over town and his statement is what is your #1 reason. Everyone is different, but knowing that answer will help you stay strong.
  13. I had the surgery in June and I found that being honest was the best policy. My hubby was so scared for me to have the surgery and we spent a great deal of time talking about it. I never wanted someone to wonder why I eat so little or losing weight so fast. Things like cancer can cause both of those symptoms so I have been up front with everyone. I feel like it is a statement of getting healthy. It is in no way the easy way out. You must be mentally strong to go through this. Family and friend support is great and those that give you flack or negativity are jealous you are helping yourself. I hope that helps some.
  14. I also wanted to add to shop around for bariatric doc. I interviewed two and the one I decided on understood auto immune diseases. I hope everything turns out well for you.
  15. The gas sort of stays with me, but gasx is great!
  16. I have rheumatoid arthritis and had no problem getting my surgery date. I am not 2.5 months post op. You will not be able to have the lap band though. As for the blood work - please keep in mind that 25% of patients never show positive for RA. I was one of those people and it took about 4 years for a diagnosis. Please make sure you do not give up finding an answer. I had to go through several doctors to get my answers. RA is something you can live with and the surgery has helped me so much. Keep your chin up and get second opinions from doctors!
  17. Went to my surgeons office and my official weight loss is 53lbs. Surgery date was June 5. I was told it is above the curve. Yeah!!!!!!
  18. I think you would find that if you had eaten something you should not have you would have gotten sick. There are lots of things I want, but throwing it up is a powerful motivator for me
  19. I was still on clear liquids at 5 days and my doctor said he was not concerned about my protein intake for the first week. He said staying hydrated was more important.
  20. Mine was playing soccer and not hurting or having to take pain medication so my joints would not hurt. I feel like I run a little faster now!
  21. With the cravings I just tell myself someday I can eat that again, but with smaller portions. I have been surprised about what I have been craving. I thought candy bars would be at the top of my list but I do not miss them at all.
  22. Remember as you begin to workout you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. I have stalls all the time when I introduce something new. This is a long race not a sprint. The weight will come off just be patient!
  23. IT was tough for me tonight. My mom and I went to see rod Stewart tonight and have been going to se him for 20 years. After every concert we stopped by ihop for a slice of pie. Well tonight there was no point in stopping so we kept driving home. It feels weird not going through with our tradition and got me thinking what traditions have you given up and what other am I going to give up.
  24. I think we all go through this period. I regretted my decision when I was hving a hard time keeping foods down. I was miserable and emotional. It was a real struggle to remember why I did this. It is hard to drive down the road and see all the places you used to eat, but now you can't. I hated hearing what I am about to say so please bare with me. It does get easier and the weigh comes off and you will remember why you did this. Keep your chin up! This is a temporary stop on this life changing event!
