Scared! RNY surgery on Monday 12/10.
I was fine with having the surgery, but my has band was scared to death. The day of the surgery he threw up several times that morning. Just relax and take deep breathes. I will tell you this your first few months are tough, and you need to remember your boys during that time. You did this so you could be healthier to be with them.

RNY on Monday, 12/10, Scared!
I was not worried about the surgery, but my husband was deathly afraid of it. In fact the day of my surgery he threw up several times due to the fear. Just keep in mind your goal. I will be honest with you the first few months are hard months, but they pass and are a distant memory now. Stay strong and find a picture of your heaviest weight and keep it near you. When it is a hard day pull that out!!! We are here if you need anything

Working out?
My job is physical - animal control officer. I also play soccer two times a week!

the scale is my enemy!
My weight loss has leveled off, but inches are still coming off. Remember muscle weighs more, and you might be retaining water. Those are the two big reasons I have stalled lbs wise, but keep losing inches. Don't get hung up on numbers - relax and it will come off!

National average surgery goals
My surgeon said when I have lost 75 pounds I was a success due to my medication I am on for my rheumatoid arthritis. I hit that about a month ago. Just celebrated 6 months post op

I can't stress eat, but I need something
Lisa, Sorry to hear about your grandma. Have you tried exercise? It will get your heart pumping and will allow you to channel your energy. My stress relief is playing soccer. Maybe check into a kick boxing class or some other class that interests you. When you start feeling the urge to stress eat try to imagine the new you. People say Yoga is a stress reliever, but I recently read a book that put it best to me - If God meant for our legs to be over our necks he would have made us that way. Find a hobby that you can do when you have that urge to eat. Hang in there and remember we are always here for you!

Wedding Dress....
I had my dress custom made. It was cheaper than buying at retail and having it altered. I went to a bridal show and they have dress makers there. The woman I found was wonderful. My dress is 100% original and fit perfectly. A dress maker can start with your design now and make the dress when you are at a more stable weight. Congrats and good luck!

Diarrhea
I have constant diahrrea, and have since the surgery. I wish I could give you helpful tips, but I rely on over the counter medication.

My Live In Mother In Law Works At Great American Cookie Co
I understand they do not get it. My husband does not get it, but he realized this was important to me and supported me by not bringing in things that would tempt me. Please speak to them again. Come from the angle of you may not understand it, but as my love ones and family this is what I need right now. Then lay out what you need from them. I am 5 months post op and I could not have come this far without the support of my husband. I do to want to scare you, but many people wind up divorced after surgery because they realize that their spouse was not supportive. Maybe seeing a counselor with them will help. You do not have to understand weight issues to offer support!

Pain When Drinking
When it comes to pain and something not feeling right ALWAYS call your doc.
-
Forcing Myself To Eat
It will pass. You are learning how your new body is. Things that make you sick now will eventually go down ok, but it will take some time. Make sure you keep drinking fluid. Call the doctor office as well. I got anti-nausea med to help me through that time.

Surgery Thursday ! Ahhhhhh!
Sounds like it could be the gallbladder. I knew because I saw my hubby go through it years ago. Milk based products will make it worse. Get in to see the doc!

My Live In Mother In Law Works At Great American Cookie Co
I think it is time for a come to Jesus meeting as they say. When I started my journey my husband and I had a long talk about sweets. I always felt when I was succeeding in my diets he would bring home some sweets and then say well just have self control and leave them alone. Hubby has never had weight issues. I was about one month post op and he brought home a chocolate pie. I would typically keep things bottled up with something like this, but we sat down and I said this is what I am talking about. It finally hit home and we had a talk about what sweets he could bring home. I hate coconut and he loves it. So he brought home coconut pies. I tell you that story because in order to be successful you must have the support of family. There will be a time when she can bring those cookies home again, and you will not want them, or can tolerate a small little bit and be satisfied. However right now you need support during this transition period. Stand up for choosing to be healthy and happy! You deserve it!!!!

Alcohol?
I have been able to drink wine, but make sure the first time you try it you are with people you trust. It will hit you faster! Do not drive after you drink!! I had a Cosmo for my birthday on Saturday and I got a pain in my stomach. I think it was the type of vodka they used.

Forcing Myself To Eat
That is normal feeling and it will pass. Just make sure you are getting your water intake everyday.

Horrible Smelling Gas
I do not eat the artificial sweeteners - they give me a migraine.

Miserable
It got better with anti-nausea medication that my doc gave me and learning about my pouch. Everyone is different and you must learn what food makes you sick. I would take my anti-nausea medication 30 min before eating and that seemed to help. Stay in contact with your doctor and tell them everything. My doc said that as we loose fat it releases toxins in our blood causing the issues. You will get through this!!!! Remember why you did this, and keep your eye on the prize. If you ever have questions feel free to send me a private message.

Horrible Smelling Gas
I am really tired of this. I have had it since surgery and kept hoping it would fade away. I had my gallbladder removed just 3 weeks ago and the smell is worse. The loose stools has become my new normal, but that two has a foul smell. Besides taking gasx ( as it can make things hurt some) what can I do to get rid of the smell or looseness.
-
Miserable
It does get better I promise. I went through the same thing. Have a good boohoo session and get the feelings out. I went weeks without being able to eat without throwing up, I regretted my decision to have the surgery, and kept thinking what the F$@& did I do this for. I talked with my doctor and I got through it. I am 5 months post op down 80lbs and 5 pant sizes. I can eat just about anything I want, but watch my portions. Just hang in there and remember why you did this in the first place. It will get better and better!!!! Don't ever hesitate asking questions on here!!!

Tomorrow Is Going To Be So Hard
Thanks everyone. Eating was fine - hubby finished most of my dinner! However I discovered that a Cosmo caused me great pain in the stomach. Besides that I had one of the best birthdays!!
