Am I too young? ADVICE!
I think if you wait until you're 18 then you're not too young to decide that for yourself. Will you still be on Mom's insurance then? I totally empathize with you coming from a family of skinny people myself. If your parents support the decision, it sounds like you will have a lot of support and can make it through the bandster hell ok. You will probably have great prospects to get down to a nice goal weight since you are young. Keep us updated!

Low Goal weights! Please respond!
For me, it's my "ultimate goal." When I met with the Dr he said my ideal weight was 126, so I decided that would be a good ultimate goal. I haven't weighed that since my junior year in high school, but I was looking good then! I hope I can get dang close to that by literally working my butt off with exercise & my new best friend: the band!

Meal Card...anyone heard of this?
I got one of these too. I prefer to just order off the adult menu and save the leftovers for 2-3 more meals...

Questions from others while eating out!
Maybe I have a weird view of this, but I LOVE to do this at a restaurant especially with the family. I am less hungry around them. I feel almost like I'm showing off! At the same time it sucks when my 118 pound sister in law pigs out and has two bowls of soup and an entree....WHY can she eat like that????

This may be a dumb question...
My doc says the tubing holds 1 cc of fluid...

Can you still eat out in Restaurants?
I made the mistake of getting a steak at Applebee's last night. I tried two bites, but I had to spit them both out on my plate because they wouldn't turn to mush in my mouth. I guess I'll be feeding that steak to my dog since my husband's a vegetarian...

Question for the female banders
1. Absolutely, I had no periods for 10 years without bcp. After the band I had the heaviest period of my life for about 1-2 weeks. Then it stopped on it's own. I am waiting to see if it comes again on it own. I hope so! 2. YES! and it is not just psychological....I had NO libido before the band.

I'm thinking about getting LapBand. Is it really worth it?
Hey- I just figured out at my fill today that I have the 10cc band & now it is filled to 3cc's.

Were you actually "starving"? My experience has been totally different than that. I used to feel like I was starving all the time before the band. I would get horrible stomach pain and nausea if I didn't eat. That is completely gone with the band. I haven't felt it even once in 6 weeks.

I was just sharing my experience. I didn't mean anything against anyone else & I don't think it sounded that way. Sure it depends on what size band you get- I'm not sure what mine is.

I'm thinking about getting LapBand. Is it really worth it?
I've only had the band for 6 weeks & I go for my first fill today, yey! I've lost 35 pounds so far. I have not honestly been hungry once yet. I think when people say that they are "starving" they are exaggerating. I have not thrown up yet. I was nauseous once after the surgery but got better after I took an antinausea pill. I only needed it that once. I don't feel like it's a forced diet. I feel like I'm eating like a normal person now instead of like a pig. I used to go out to eat with people who would get a taco while I got a big value meal. Now I also only eat a taco. After the post surgery diet you can eat whatever you like with a couple of exceptions. I don't miss soda anymore & not chewing gum isnt that bad either. My life is already completely changed and I would do the whole thing over again every three months for the rest of life if I had to in order to lose all the weight.

I'm concerned and need some feedback
I feel your pain. I also pushed my diet and hope everything will be okay. I didn't push it too far, and I never had any issues. I guess only time will tell if I did any harm to myself.

Documentation of weight for 5 years
Redd- I had about 7 different doctors in the last 5 years and I went to all of them and got all of my records. Everytime you go to the doc they weigh you in. Have you at least been to a doc or nurse practitioner in the last 5 years?

Don't ask...Don't tell policy
I told everybody once I actually had a time for surgery! I was SO excited. The only exception is I didn't tell my 7th and 8th graders because they can be harsh, but I'm sure some of them know anyway.

Haven't gone done any dress sizes yet...how long for you?
I just realized that I must have been wearing my clothes way too tight. I have lost 33 pounds but I haven't really gone down a full dress size. I can't wait until I actually get from a 22/24 to a loose 18/20! How long did it take you to have to buy new clothes? My wedding ring keeps falling off my finger and my shoes are getting bigger...this thing is awesome!
