  1. Congrats!! I know you're relieved to finally get that good news.
  2. Hi all. I am still pre-op, waiting on the insurance approval. In the past couple months, I've been trying to make changes in my diet so the transition post-op won't be so hard. Mainly, I've paid closer attention to my Protein intake and cut out (almost) all sweets and sodas. Typically I have only one traditional meal each day (lunch) and for Breakfast I have a Protein Shake and dinner another shake or greek yogurt...something super light. I feel great...EXCEPT that over the past 2 months I've been constipated more times than I have in my whole entire life. Have any of you experienced this? Is it possible that I'm getting too much protein? Or is it something I've cut out of my diet that's messing me up? Thanks guys! Bettina
  3. You all look wonderful! I just submitted everything to my insurance, so hopefully I'll join all you LOSERS soon! :-)
  4. ...just waiting for insurance approval now. My surgeon is very confident that I'll get my approval. I hope he's right. He also said based on my evals and med history that the surgery should be pretty much smooth sailing. Thank God for his confidence. :-). Say a prayer that my insurance approves QUICKLY!!!
  5. I'm still pre-op and I just had my IUD implanted about a month ago. I had light spotting almost every other day, and now I'm on my first official period since it was inserted. No pain at all, and the bleeding is much lighter than before. So I'm pretty happy with it so far.
  6. I'm in Littleton...teeny tiny town in the eastern part of the state. Closest "city" would be Rocky Mount. Anyone going to Nash Surgical Weight Loss Center?
  7. Here's something weird that I look forward to - I want to be able to not take up an entire seat when I sit down. I want to look small in a seat, as opposed to the seat looking too small for me. :-)
  8. Hi there. What part of NC? I'm near Rocky Mount. Congrats on your surgery. I'm still pre-pre-op. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  9. I have always wanted to get to a 14, since I've been bigger than that all my adult life. But I wouldn't mind being smaller. I'm curvy, and I worry about looking crazy if I lose too much. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  10. Hi all! I have met another little milestone here at the beginning of my journey. I went to my PCP yesterday, prepared to defend my decision to have WLS, but it turns out that I didn't have to! She totally agrees with me, after discussing my family history and my own history of yo-yo dieting. She said she would refer me right then if it weren't for all the hoops we have to jump through for the insurance company. So my 6-month medically supervised diet starts today! One step closer to my goal - a healthier, thinner me!
  11. Way to go!!!!! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  12. After about 4 years, I FINALLY HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE!! So now I can get started on my 6-month doctor supervised diet. I am so happy...slow progress is progress nonetheless. :-) Bettina Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  13. No more fat girl grunting when I'm getting up from the couch.... Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  14. I'm still waiting for my insurance to kick in so I can start my supervised diet. I can't wait to be as far along as you are. Congrats! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  15. Wow, that's awesome! Keep up the good work! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  16. Hello all. I have been feeling a certain way lately, and I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone else feels like this or understands... I feel trapped by food. It's a feeling I've just started feeling in the past few weeks or months. I am seriously just tired of eating. But if I don't eat, I of course would get sick. I start to feel like crap, headache, shakes, all that good stuff. So I have to eat. But if I try to eat healthy, a salad or something light, I don't get full. So when I'm cutting back, I still feel sick. Headache, etc. So I just try to stave off the sick feeling by eating a generous meal. No, typically it's not healthy, nor is it light. And what happens after I eat that? You guessed it...I feel sick. I literally have headaches almost everyday of the week. Not to mention stomach upset because I'm eating the wrong things. So that makes me not want to eat, which of course, leads me back to the beginning. This is one of the MAIN reasons I want to have this surgery. I want to eat less, but I also want to avoid feeling hungry. I know that RNY is the right procedure for me, because it will allow me to do both. And the idea of a liquid diet is really appealing. To be able to kick food to the curb for any period of time seems like an awesome idea. Anyway, if I sound crazy, please excuse me. I just really needed to get this out. Bettina
  17. I've always wondered if Soul City was a real city! :-) I pass that sign all the time heading to I-85. LOL
  18. That makes sense. I'll just check with my PCP to make sure. Thanks!
  19. I'm in Littleton...right near VA border in the eastern part of the state. Near Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount...they're slightly bigger so maybe you've heard of them. I'm glad to have some "neighbors" to chat with. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

  21. What if you haven't been approved yet? I am talking about the 6 month diet that a doctor has to supervise...
  22. I have the same question. I'm right over 40 BMI, with no comorbidities, and I'm wondering whether I can disqualify myself if I lose too much on the supervised diet. Realistically, if I do lose weight, I'll just regain it, but somehow I don't think the insurance company will care about that likelihood. :-/
  23. Littleton, NC...tiny, tiny little town. I'll be having my surgery at Nash General Hospital...no surgeon yet. Hello all. :-)
