    One Week Away !

I was a pack + a day smoker and my surgeon wanted a month smoke free. He told me this 10 months prior to my surgery and it was 3 days from my sons birthday (who also was begging me to quit - I blame those horrible comercials- anyways the last time I quit some one said "you're pregnant") so the next day I ordered the "Blu" electronic cigarette, it arrived on my sons birthday August 10... I had my son toss my cigarettes into the trash and I haven't had one since! The electronic cigs are GREAT! I used them for about 6 months and just quit all together..... I recommend them to EVERYONE! My mom, best friend, and two cousins took my advice and quit also!! however my husband just loves to smoke to much so they didn't work at all for him.... You have to really WANT to quit! and trust me ... I feel SO MUCH BETTER after I quit!! My advice -ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES
  3. !!!! Awesome!! Good luck!!! and best wishes on a speedy recovery!!!

    Exercise After Surgery

I'm still in pain when I walk for to long (actually, when I walk an incline my upper chest and right arm get heavy and sore) but yesterday I was cleared to start swimming and I looked up some "water work out tips" that I think I'm going to try today.... Here's a link if you'd like to check it out. http://m.wikihow.com/Work-Out-in-the-Pool
  6. Thanks!!! And LMAO!! You're right! Old habit to break
  7. I can not tell you how amazing it felt to take some laps in the pool (but I can try)... to just be able to stretch out my entire body and do lap after lap, feeling light as a feather was exhilarating!!! 3 weeks post op and I REALLY needed that free feeling! Plus I started the puréed stage today!!! 30 days w/ no food, just liquids and Protein shakes ... Sucks! I had a simple (testing out the pouch) crab salad (I know, no protein .... But that's what I've been craving!!) only ate a couple bites but I was fine afterwards!! Getting ready to have some tuna now!!!!! This makes me so happy! Lmfao A MUCH NEEDED DAY!!!!

    I Feel So Alone!

My husband was EXACTLY the same! We fought at the beginning of my journey about it all the time!! But he's 6 foot 2 with out an inch of fat on him! And had NO clue what it felt like to be fat! He would say "go for a walk" "go to the gym" then fill the cabinets and fridge with junk. After a year of hearing his crap I finally blew up and in that fight I learned he was scared.... He had been doing his own research about the surgery and was terrified something would go wrong .... or I would leave him once I lost all of my weight. He had his own insecurities about my journey that I had no clue about!! He still never let up about me getting it. But when my surgery date came he had never been so supportive and loving and even now three weeks later he is constantly making sure I am ok........ Sometimes men, manly men... Show emotions ALL WRONG... It's ok to be angry with him for acting the way he is... but remember... he loves you!! Maybe it's something else about your surgery that's getting to him ......

    Approved!

    That's great!! Congrats!!
  10. I'm learning that not every doctor is on the same page we're taught Protein is THE most important thing your body needs. Even before the surgery. In school I was taught your body NEEDS protein to survive. When I had my son his pediatrician drilled PROTEIN into my head when he began solid food.... So it's a little odd for me to hear doctors not advocate the necessity of protein post op..... BUT like I said, not all doctors are the same and being on this board and another one I've learned.. They're ALL different. Plus protein doesnt have to be in a "shake" put a scoop in your milk with a little carnation instant Breakfast stir it up ... Just like flavored milk.. and just as smooth.
  11. Hey everyone.... Just discovered this app!! I'm 18 days post op, full gastric bypass... and boy am I having a rocky beginning ... barely able to "eat" anything... Still on stage 2 for a couple more days and I'm so tired of all the sweet shizzz ... I've been sticking to pudding and sweet protein shakes.... Can't wait for stage 3!!!!!!!! My surgery was rough... Spent 5 days in ICU, 4 blood transfusions and my tummy was giant bruise.... Needless to say I live every day in fear of my complications.... But the name of the game is POSITIVE THOUGHTS!!! .... Happy to have found this board... I joined another one but i like that I'm able to do this from my phone!!!! Look forward to jumping right into the convos now!!!!

    I Week Out.

You're only on the first week so I wouldn't worry to much. However, I would ask your NUT when you can begin protein drinks and if they say "you don't need it" ask why not and if there isn't a medical reason or if they've prescribed you something ... I would just ask "when" if you aren't happy with their answers... I haven't been getting in enough protein and I feel like death..... I don't want you feeling like this because you weren't properly informed. Protein is VERY important on stage 2 liquid diet. Good luck!

I Have A Beef With My Doc!

I'd tell him just how you feel! I had a problem with my surgeon and when I spoke to him at my first post op apt I explained to him my frustration, face to face, he was more than understanding and very apologetic. It's easy for them to brush your complaints off via the phone ... Face to face is a bit harder. Write out all your symptoms, frustrations, questions and request.
  16. Yes, I mean prior to your cut off

    Salad

On another board a girl just posted how she ate lettuce for the first time in 8 weeks and thought she was gonna die... The replies were agreeing that lettuce is considered a stringy food? That is more difficult and commonly painful to digest...... Scared me away from salads.... But I guess it's one of those "try it and see" things...

Snacks For 1St Couple Of Weeks?

The gerber puffs, do they melt in your mouth? At whar stage did you eat them?? I start puréed food in a couple days and what I wouldn't give for a little crunch!!! 30 days on liquid sucks!!
  20. Thanks!!!! & mami, my experience isn't common ... Have no fear!! Just drink plenty of water before!
  21. I use the time release capsules and open them up and pour them into my protein shakes. I couldn't find chewable ones.... I would suggest taking them and even if you don't need them... What can it hurt :-)
  22. Thank you!!!! :-) Despite the rocky road I'm cruising on now, I try to stay positive and focused!!! :-)
